Removed password. But TB still asks for it. Why?

I use TB, Win 7, and my ISP is Cox Cable. I removed the passward from my Email Account using the path Junk Settings > Global Junk Preferences > Security > Passwords > Saved Passwords > and Removed All. But TB still ask me for a PW when I open it and I enter my previously used password. Only then can I see my email. So why is TB still asking for the password I thought I had deleted? I've included Troubleshooting Info, all the data above Important Modified Preferences.

Let's be clear. Your email account has a password, set up by or with your email provider. Thunderbird offers the convenience of storing it for you so you don't have to type it in every time you run Thunderbird.

Your email account provider requires you to provide a password to prove you are the legitimate user of the account. Telling Thunderbird to forget the password does not remove your obligation to provide it when you want to use your email account.

That's a strange interpretation. Thunderbird asks you for the password precisely because you have told it to forget the password. It doesn't matter what you set or unset in Thunderbird; the server demands that you tell it your password. You can't stop this; it's how email works. It's not Thunderbird so much as it is the website. When you removed the username/password, you prevented Thunderbird from accessing the website.

Thanks, but I did not remove the User Name, only the PW associated with it. But as I said, TB still recognizes and responds to the PW I thought I had deleted. That's the strange part. Why?

Your email account has both a user name and a password and you need to provide both in order to be allowed to get access to your email account. So you either fill in the password every time you want to use your email account, or you let Thunderbird remember it for you.

Choosing whether or not Thunderbird stores your password for you does not and can not change the way the system works. The server needs to see your password to grant you access.

Thanks again, but how do I set my PW for my Email Account. All I see is an option to Use A Master PW. Do I have the path wrong? Looking forward to your suggestions.

Once again, you already have a password for your account. You set up that password when you created that account with your email provider. Perhaps you've changed that password since.

Thunderbird will prompt you for the password when it's needed. You can then tell Thunderbird to remember that password, so that you won't have to type it again and again. You cannot use Thunderbird to initially set or change your account password.

Go to your email provider's website to change your password.

When you next use Thunderbird, it'll ask you to enter the new password. I'd recommend you tick the checkbox to tell Thunderbird to remember it for you.

By "email provider," you must mean my ISP (Internet Service Provider). I didn't know they control the email password. That shows you how much I know. Thanks to you Zenos, as well as christ1 and FredMcD, who shared your knowledge with me. I appreciate your efforts and the education.

The e-mail provider provides your e-mail. Some ISP have an e-mail service. In your e-mail address, everything after the @ is your e-mail provider.

Well no, it's the account that has the password. The website is just one of several ways to access the email account. I wouldn't call it the "website password".

But the point is that an email client, such as Thunderbird, is not capable of changing the password that an email account uses.
