why does the save bookmark default to "other bookmarks"
when you click on bookmarks, you see your list of bookmarks
wonderful
but when you click to bookmark the current page it wants to put it in "other bookmarks"
I dont see a setting to change the default to Bookmarks
this is very frustrating ! ! !

To be honest, I don't know "why," it's just the way the star icon has always worked since it was first added.
If you want Firefox to default to Bookmarks Menu, you can use one of these methods to add the bookmark instead of the star icon:
- Ctrl+d
- right-click a blank area of the page > Bookmark This Page
- (menu bar) Bookmarks > Bookmark This Page
Is any of those convenient for you? Or convenient enough that you don't feel inclined to search for an add-on to modify how the star works?

This used to be the case for me but now since the last update to 58.0b4 (64bit) it's saving to 'Other Bookmarks' by default instead.
Ugh...
Well, someone created an add-on to replace the built-in star button with one that is more configurable. I haven't tried it myself, and there are no reviews yet:

Cheers, I appreciate your time & knowledge. My thanks.
As a matter of interest: Do you know why this change was implemented?
