I don't use a proxy. I uninstalled the update. Firefox works fine now without any hangups where I have to close out the program. I am trying to delay installing this update by scheduling a restart far out in the future. Hopefully, Mozilla will have an update to deal with this crap from Microsoft.

I have seen others mention the Anniversary update without saying that Firefox is having problems, so whatever it is probably is not affecting everyone. We would have seen lots of complaints by now. My Windows 10 refuses* to successfully install the 1607 update, and I am in no hurry to look for a fix that.

* I get an error message something along the lines of other updates are running. I uninstalled the last previous It took quite a long time, but Windows still reinstalled that, and then attempted and failed to install the 1607 update. I did not try downloading the 1607 update and trying to install that offline. 

I wonder if the problem may relate to a Firefox 48 to Fx49 update rather than being a Windows issue, but if it went away when when the Windows upgrade was uninstalled that would appear to be proof it is a Windows update causing issues.

You mention Firefox crashes. Do you see the Firefox Mozilla crash reporter ? if so you mah have Crash IDs and should be able to get those by visiting about:crashes . Can you paste in to your next reply a couple of the Crash IDs they start with BP-

Can you tell me how to uninstall the updates that come from Microsoft? I cannot use Firefox or some of my other programs since the updates...

In reply to the crash reports, I checked out the list of the crash reports and the latest one is on June 26th. Having Firefox go into "NOT RESPONDING" may not create a crash report.

As far as uninstalling windows 10 updates go, I went to settings and then windows updates. Under advanced options, you will have an opportunity to uninstall an update. The problem will be that Microsoft will automatically download the update again after you uninstall it. I am delaying the installation of the update by scheduling a restart far into the future. My computer doesn't get turned off. It is just hibernated.

We get a lot of information from processed crash reports, and sometimes that information is very useful.

The not responding issues can be cause by various factors, and may be messages from Firefox or possibly from the Operating System. Messages from Firefox often include some additional clues.

Besides it happening after a few minutes are you able to pin down anything else that causes this. There is an extensive listing of potential causes in the [1] help article.

As to Windows Updater, you can remove any update you want. After this, that same update will return to the update list. However, you can choose to hide an update so it is no longer listed.

You have Windows 7 while the OP has Windows 10.

I wish I could generate a Crash Report for you, however I am unable to do so as Firefox is no longer on my system and every time I've tried an install of v.51+, it hangs up once the browser starts to open with the famous, "NOT RESPONDING" note in the top left corner. I'm running Windows 10 Pro v.1607 on a Lenovo ThinkPad E535 with 6GB RAM. Firefiox was my default browser and it is sadly missed. Would appreciate any help. Thanks, ssg978

If you have not removed the profile folders

you will have to do this the hard way. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozillacrashreporter Open the file browser / explorer on your computer. Note: You may have to enable Show Hidden Folders / Files. Enter this in the address bar;

Windows: %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted Win 7/Vista: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted Win XP/2000: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted

Mac OS: /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Crash Reports/submitted Linux: /home/<username>/.mozilla/firefox/Crash Reports/submitted

Copy the last 5-7 Recent File Names in the folder. Post the information in the reply box below.

Thanks for your reply. Luckily, I know my way around the file structure so I was able to play, "Peek-a-Boo" in File Explorer, than try to manually type in that address. I then highlighted the first 6 reports together and tried "copy & paste" into this window. But it failed to "paste" in here every time. I tried doing one at a time - same result. I tried copying one report name file to Word Pad and then to this window - same result. They are just the filenames for the .txt files, so I should be able to copy the name of a file to this reply box, so you can then read the .txt files, right? Any advice? Thank you!

Open the folder. Right-click and select Rename on the last report. Right-click and select Copy. Then Paste into the Reply Box below.

Now do the same with 4 or 5 other recent reports.

This is possibly caused by the multi-process feature that is enabled in the current Firefox release. You can disable multi-process windows in Firefox to see if that has effect.

You can disable multi-process windows in Firefox by setting the related prefs to false on the about:config page.
