I have a bookmarks folder with many links and many folders and subfolders to organize them (15+years worth). I am very good about deleting any unwanted bookmarks and I also even change the titles to make them more concise. But despite my efforts at organization, firefox freezes and stalls every time I try to make even the slightest change to one of these bookmarks (ie change the title or location of the bookmark using bookmarks manager) and then I have to wait 10 - 15 seconds for firefox to make the change and unfreeze itself so I can move on. As a result it is becoming intolerable to even use anymore. I imported the same exact bookmarks into chrome and it doesn't have any of these delays. I do not sign into chrome whereas my firefox has my account linked to several other devices. Is that why my firefox bookmarks are so slow to update (because it takes so long to send the updated info to the central server that then has the info ready for next login from that or another device)? If so then am I going to have to just stop using my firefox sync acct and to go back to a cloudless bookmarks folder with no ability to sync between my laptop, desktop &tablet just to avoid waiting 10-15 between adding or making any change to bookmarks before continuing to work? Would having the sync only apply to two devices make it sync faster than if I have 3 or 4 devices with my sync acct linked? Eliminating bookmarks is not an acceptable solution...like I said I am already good about renaming and organizing them (or at least when that function used to work in a timely manner). Thank you for your help!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Places Maintenance {web link} Allows to run Maintenance tasks on the database that drives Places, the bookmarks and history module behind Firefox.

Open the Add-ons Manager. Locate the add-on and press the Options button. Then follow the directions.

It still does the same in safe mode (just closed firefox and reopened in safe mode and tried to change bookmarks title in bkmrks manager and i got the busy cursor /no ability to scroll within page while waiting 10 sec+ for it to make the name change) I also use both mac and pc's synced together with firefox...would that cause any delays?

Are you have any problem on the other computers?

If you have sync, and there is a problem anywhere, Shut Down Sync Immediately to prevent the problem from spreading. Once the problem is fixed, perform the same repair on all computers before using sync again.

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?

It happens on any and all computers and devices that I try to use firefox. It has happened for years now with every version, update, refreshed and any kind of update you can do. it is a flaw with how firefox syncs i guess. i will try other browsers...sad to realize this after using firefox from its earliest years. i just can't wait 10 seconds to add or make any change to a single bookmark...intolerably frustrating. I know mozilla is providing this for free but the comlpete absence of a help contact for issues such as this is REALLY disappointing

Have you shut down sync? Any change?
