Does that connection error page have an "Advanced" button? If it does, could you click the Advanced button and copy/paste the more detailed error message into a reply?

That information typically contains a specific code. Probably the most common code is addressed in this article:

How to troubleshoot security error codes on secure websites

Hey Jscher

here is the error that pops up : ________________________________________________________________________________

Your connection is not secure

The owner of www.kijiji.ca has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website.

Report errors like this to help Mozilla identify misconfigured sites

www.kijiji.ca uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is only valid for the following names:

 a248.e.akamai.net, *.akamaihd.net, *.akamaihd-staging.net, *.akamaized.net, *.akamaized-staging.net

Error code: SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN

________________________________________________________________________________ What is most frustrating is that you might post on Ad on kijiji and then you have to either try and reboot modem and router.... sometimes reboot computer.....

Hmm, it's not uncommon for large sites to use Akamai for their content distribution, but this doesn't come up very often.

Is the problem when you load https://www.kijiji.ca/t-login.html or when you submit your login, or when the site redirects back to where you were before?

Occasionally Firefox may mistakenly try to use HTTPS on a page that only supports HTTP. Obviously if the request involves sensitive information (e.g., account access), it should support HTTPS, but there are many pages on a site that might not be designed for HTTPS access.

Assuming the problem isn't on the login page itself, if you edit the address of the page where the error message arises by deleting the "s" from https does Firefox load the page over http or are you redirected to https with the same error?

So it happen again in Firefox as of this morning

https://www.kijiji.ca/m-my-ads.html?adId=1184911973&actMsg=DEL_MSG

I was deleting a Ad .... this is the error

as of today -- yes it is different each time

www.kijiji.ca uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is only valid for the following names:

Error code: SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN

I deleting the "s" from https does Firefox load the page over http and then reloaded the page only to be redirected to https with the same error

It is most frustration as it only on Kijiji

Thanks for your help and information

Is there anything special about how your Firefox connects to the network, for example, a proxy server, private VPN, Tor, Hola, or being "filtered" by security software?

You could check your Firefox connection settings here:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options

In the left column, click Advanced. On the right side, click the "Network" mini-tab and then the "Settings" button.

The default of "Use system proxy settings" piggybacks on your Windows LAN connection settings, but you could try "No proxy" to see whether that makes a difference.

Could you do a malware sweep of your system with several of the free programs listed in our support article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware. That would supplement your AVG scanning in case there is something AVG does not detect as a problem but which other vendors know to interfere with how Firefox works.

Please do the malware cleaning: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.

If you plan to do a thorough removal of Firefox AND all your data, create two forms of bookmark backup following these articles, and save them in a safe place (e.g., your Documents folder, not in a Firefox folder):

Yes, Firefox is not warning you that the address is HTTP instead of HTTPS, Firefox is warning you that the certificate sent by the site is for a different site, which implies that your login would be diverted to or be readable by a different site.

Since maintaining control of your account is probably very important to you, please do the malware cleaning now before potentially sharing any more personal information with the unknown intruder.
