Make saved bookmarks folder act like it does in internet explorer browser

more options

Hi, I really wish the developer's of the firefox browser would consider implementing a change to how the saved bookmark's act. The way it is currently is rather nerve racking, when using internet explorer 'remembers' the last opened bookmark which at least to me is a nice feature. With firefox when you click on the 'show your bookmarks' button, you have to start from the beginning every time, which is at least to me rather 'old fashioned' . Hopefully other user's of firefox feel like I do. David

Thank you for your feedback.

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.

If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues.

Hi Wesley, Thanks so much for your reply, of course I realized that what you stated was true " The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers. ", I was hoping that user's of this browser would comment about my statement and if possibly they might of discovered some method to actually accomplish this. Have a great day !! David

P.S. I took your advice and did submit feedback about this issue, hopefully I'll get some feedback from them.

Thanks for submitting your feedback, David. Unfortunately, due to the high volume of feedback that Mozilla receives, you may not receive any contact from Mozilla, although they will certainly look at your feedback.

Firefox ships with a number of smart bookmark folders which include a Most Visited folder. You may want to Restore the default Smart Bookmarks Folders in order to allow Firefox to display your most visited websites.

Alternatively, you may want to add the bookmarks that you use the most onto your Bookmarks Toolbar.

Also, please note that you can access your bookmarks by typing them into the Awesome Bar. If this feature is not enabled by default, you may need to enable it in your Firefox settings.

If you require further assistance with any of the alternatives that I have mentioned above, please feel free to let us know and we can assist you.

Hi Wesley, In the back of my mind I keep thinking that once upon a time I thought I remembered seeing some kind of extension that would cause bookmarks to act like they do in internet explorer and now the newer edge browser. Thanks, David

You may be referring to the PlainOldFavorites addon which looks like it uses the actual Internet Explorer favourites on your system.

Hi David, this might not suit your style, but since Firefox 3, one of the most efficient ways to load a bookmark is to type a few letters of its address or the page's title in the address bar and watch for it to come up among the suggestions. Bookmarks are designated with a blue star.

If you are working your way through a particular subfolder, it might be easiest, if you have a widescreen display, to use the Bookmark Sidebar. You can open that using either:

  • Ctrl+b (assuming the page doesn't intercept it)
  • Bookmarks menu button on the toolbar > View Bookmarks Sidebar

The sidebar is persistent and doesn't scroll on you, and you can't lose it by accidentally moving your mouse off of it.
