I have three email accounts setup (2 gmail, and 1 for my domain at Host Gator). The gmail accounts work fine, but I'm unable to send emails from my Host Gator email. I can receive emails fine.

When I send an email there is no error message. It says it sends, it is moved to the sent folder, but it never is actually sent. I can log into my web-mail and see even there it's in the sent mail, but again, it's never received no matter who I try and email.

Things I've done: -I followed all the instructions on: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-send-messages#w_if-this-list-doesnt-help -Delete the account from Thunderbird and re-setup the email -Setup the account in Outlook on the same computer and it can send messages (Therefore I was able to to confirm it's not a problem with my ISP, firewall, or Antivirus) -I use Private Internet Access (PIA) as a proxy and have tried with it running and off. PIA has white-listed my SMTP serverand given me a specific IP and port to send my emails through. This works when using Outlook so I know it's not PIA. -Turned off PIA and used Host Gator's default SMTP and IMAP server settings and the same problem -Thunderbird in safe-mode with no add-on

My setup: OS: Windows 10 64bit Firewall: Windows Default Antivirus: AVG Free 2016 Thunderbird: 38.7.2 ISP: Comcast

Any help is appreciated

So the simplest solution seems to have worked. I uninstalled Thunderbird, restarted, then re-installed from a fresh download.

I didn't delete the database files or profiles so everything loaded as before but now my emails are sent with no problems.

Thanks for your help

re :account6 (imap) CORRECT INFO SSL passwordCleartext CORRECT INFO plain passwordCleartext true

this tells me you are not using any secure settings = SSL/TLS/STARTTLS So the ports for SMTP could be eg: 25, 26 or 587

Comcast = ISP, they will block ports such as 25, so the better port is 587.

Host Gator's default SMTP and IMAP server settings a secure connection SSL/TLS would use port 465 More info etc

Thanks for the suggestion Toad-Hall, but it's not a problem related to the port or SSL/TLS being blocked by my ISP. I use PIA OpenVPN service that routes all the internet traffic through them. PIA is who gave me what IP and port to use (I have tried both 25 and 587).

They then send my SMTP request to Host Gator - This setup works perfectly when I use Outlook 2016 configured the exact same way on the same computer. So I know it has something to do with the way Thunderbird is configured.

Could it possibly have something to do with what NIC it's trying to use? I only have one card but PIA create a pseudo NIC on my system. I don't think that is it however because I have also tried using the default Host Gator settings with my OpenVPN turned off and it's still the same problem.

An interesting note, I tried to send an email to myself and it went through. If I tried to include more emails outside of mine it still sends, but again, only to me. Could it be the email providers (Gmail, yahoo, etc) are blocking my emails? If that is the case why would they only block them when I email from Thunderbird and not from Outlook?

When I get home from work I'm going to try and reinstall Thunderbird, and also install it on another computer under my network to see if any of that works. I'll post the results.

Thanks again for the help
