Radeon R6 does not seem to be compatible with Firefox for windows 10. BUT Microsoft shows that Radeon R6 is not the latest processor and graphic card for 10. NOR the recommended

A new computer should contain components compatible with Windows 10!

As for Firefox, can you find any crash reports from Firefox's Safe Mode? Just to confirm, that temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement, or any new crash report ID?

Sorry to hear about the crashes and thank you for the report ID.

That particular report involves your ATI graphics card drivers, which usually would be fired off by Firefox's hardware acceleration feature.

Could you post some more crash report IDs that might show what is happening in Firefox's Safe Mode (hardware acceleration disabled)?

Also, the data you shared in your post says it is for a Windows 8 system but the crash was on a Windows 10 system. Is that correct?? Or is the Windows 10 Firefox set for backwards compatibility with Windows 8?

(Backwards compatibility is set using the program shortcut. We generally recommend not using that feature. You can turn it off by right-clicking the program shortcut, Properties, Compatibility tab.)

Thanks. Four of those were automatically turned into links by the forum; all four of those crashed in the ATI driver software. The other reports might have not submitted successfully since they don't have the bp- codes.

Could you check for updates to your ATI drivers? This article suggests safe ways to do that: Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL.

Regarding the Windows 8/Windows 10, try clearing any compatibility setting from your Firefox program icon as described earlier.

I was sent to AMD site that did an auto detect. It continues to ID my OS as windows 8. Control panel systems shows it as windows 10. IDs AMD 8600 Radeon R6

I can't really help with the details of updating the driver. Sometimes you can get updates from your computer manufacturer's website if Microsoft or the graphics card manufacturer don't have them.

If you check the AMD site in the Edge browser, does the site properly recognize your OS as Windows 10?

they don't seem to match up ! . all the auto detect system so far ID my OS as windows 8 ? I look up the system info and it is all windows 10 with the graphic card listed as AMD A8-8600p Radeon -R6 10 compute cores 4c+6g 1.60hz. OK i will switch to edge browser and do an auto detect again. Any luck getting updated drivers in Edge?

As far as I know, there are three reasons Firefox might identify itself as running on Windows 8:

(1) Compatibility setting, mentioned before

(2) User agent override, which should not exist in a new Firefox, but possibly could be carried over by Sync or copied files. See: How to reset the default user agent on Firefox.

(3) An extension overriding the user agent. Firefox's Safe Mode disables extensions, so that provides an easy way to test, assuming Firefox will run. You'll be looking for the Windows version in parentheses in the red text on my test page: https://jeffersonscher.com/res/jstest.php

I tried safe mode and still had the crashes. two days ago. before I posted anything. Yesterday I did not have the crashes at all. Today I will try to figure out what I did to solve this, since I tried so many different combos. If I can get it figured out I will post it. I also would like to talk with dell. They packaged this with the R6 and I have not read any where that states R6 and windows 10 belong together.

It still has not failed in two days. I will investigate a little more today and try and check to see if I can figure out how I repaired this trouble..
