ubuntu 15.04: firefox freezes, plugin-container using 90% CPU, 11GB RAM
Every now and then (maybe once a week on average), Firefox suddenly freezes, and checking 'top' shows that the plugin-container is using 90%+ of both CPU and RAM (I have 12 GB of RAM). So I kill firefox, and when I restart, it is running as normal again.
For extensions, I only have LeechBlock (and Ubuntu Modifications). For plugins I have Flash, Java, OpenH264 Video Codec, and iTunes application detector (apparently). Flash and Java are both up-to-date.
Since the problem happens somewhat rarely, I haven't been able to reproduce it or track down any kind of cause, but I thought it merited reporting anyway; a web search didn't seem to show anyone else reporting the same problem.

FredMcD sure if the OP was using Firefox on Windows and not on Linux as only your first link is applicable.
The Flash Player and or Java Plugins may be culprits. You should set them to "Ask to Activate" so they will only run when you allow.
I have a pretty beefy Linux system myself (i5-4690k and 16GB Ram) and I find setting Flash Player at "Ask to Activate" can still make a big difference as Flash videos and Ads will not play unless allowed.

Java was already 'ask to activate'; flash was not. I have set it to be. I looked into updating drivers, but I believe mine are up-to-date. If the problem persists after my flash change, I will make sure of that.

I have the same problem. My Firefox running with Ubuntu OS. Just keep Freezing again and again. It is very fustrating to get things done. Are there any work around that I can do and configure???
Since switching Flash to 'ask to activate', the problem has not reoccurred for me.
