Firefox will not import all of my favorites from I.E.
The import wizard (or whatever it's called on Firefox) stops at favorites beginning with O. I had to close the import window because it was taking an interminable amount of time and the next or finish button never lit up.

Sometimes Firefox runs into a strange file name or other issue in the Favorites folder. In that case, you usually can work around the glitch by manually exporting favorites and importing them into Firefox bookmarks. Please see these articles for more information:

Can you get them all?
I've exported my favorites file when prompted to do so during the initial installation. I've also done it as you say manually. The same thing happens: only part of my favorites file was downloaded into Firefox and the installation wizard's finish button never lit up. I should add that I have I.E. 9 not 10 as Microsoft will not upgrade Windows Vista users to I.E. 10.
Could you try opening your export file (e.g., bookmarks.htm) in Firefox as a web page? If you scroll down to the part of the list where the import is dying, can you see anything unusual there? Maybe there's one "bad" favorite you can remove from the Windows Favorites folder to work around the problem.
How deeply 'nested' are favorites folders back around the letter O?
I have seen mention of folders being nested 4 or 5 deep can cause the 'import wizard' to stop copying over to Firefox. But no such problem when 'exporting HTML' and then importing that file into Firefox.
As to "nesting" in my bookmarks, never more than one sub folder deep. I have attached a screenshot of where the wizard stops importing. If you can see a problem there please inform me.
I will add that I have a very large bookmarks file and possibly the Firefox import wizard is not geared to handle such a large file.
Not going to "see" anything without being able to view the source code where the "breakage" occurred.
Curious how you got New Hampshire if the "export" stopped during the letter "O"? That looks like a bookmarks.htm "export" that was imported into Firefox.
How large (file size) is the bookmarks.htm file that you exported from IE?
The import wizard doesn't import a file, it looks at the Favorites folder and 'parses' the contents of that folder to copy the URLs into Firefox Bookmarks. The "importing" a bookmarks.htm files works a bit differently.
Sorry. I've attached a screen shot where Firefox actually stopped. Going through a humongous source code file to find where the break occurred is way beyond my meager capabilities. Can't you pull up the source code from the screenshot?
I've located the source code where the upload stopped. It wasn't as difficult as I thought.

That looks normal. I don't see a reason for the import to stop at that heading.
If folders are nested too deep then that can be a possible cause.
Does it stop with that folder or with a bookmark in that folder?
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file (bookmarks, history) in the Firefox profile folder.

We have seen issues with FOLDED attributes in H3 tags in a Safari HTML backup that caused importing bookmarks to fail. You can open the HTML file in in a text editor and remove all FOLDED attributes in the H3 tags (leave the H3 tags).

There are "folded attributes" throughout the bookmarks file and Firefox copied the folders and files. Firefox stopped copying after the 6th bookmark in my New York City folder. The www.allny.com/hotel/budget... was the first bookmark not copied. I've pasted the source code below showing the place where Firefox stopped. There were more bookmarks for New York City than I've posted below. Altogether there are 3857 lines in my source code.

This board's wiki markup feature reveals something odd: three ' in a row jsut before ADD_DATE, which causes bold text to turn on. No idea what that's doing there. I suggest removing those to see whether it helps.
I bolded the line in the text editor to show exactly where the Firefox widget stopped copying. I don't know about the 3 ditto marks.
I'm thinking of deleting my current bookmarks htm file, deleting the bookmarks in my I.E. 9 favorites column that were copied to Firefox, exporting the remaining favorites to a new Bookmarks htm file and then see if Firefox will pick them up. I'm a bit hesitant because i may lose the I.E. files that I deleted in order to test my idea.

Instead of deleting the Favorites completely, you can open the Windows Favorites folder and select and drag the files to a different folder (outside the Favorites folder) and then drag them back later after the experiment is finished.
