Custom Buttons add-on: (a) How to delete and (b) Icon size

Veröffentlicht

I asked this in the Custom Button Add-On forum, and they said there are no Mac users there and to ask here.

I was able to successfully create the button (a link to google advanced search), and I searched and found a 16x16 icon for it. However, the icon is Huge compared to the others, which I have on the same line as the navigation bar, to its left. When I created the button, it was oversized among the other already-there buttons, and when I moved it to the placement point, it was hugher.

1. How do I delete this bad one? 2. If this is 16x16, it looks like the pre-existing icons are 1x1 ! What size icon do I need to use?

I am able to upload only a partial image of the issue because I don't have software to reduce file size of images, and a full screen shot was 1.6 meg.

PROBLEM SOLVED. I had searched for 'google icon 16x16, but google listed many buttons of many sizes, and mouse over did not show the dimensions.

I started this thread here when, in the Custom Button forum, they said there were no Mac users and that I might want to ask here instead.

It ended up they did solve the problem: I had downloaded a larger icon. Instead of searching as I did, they suggested to search within google images for 16x16 google icon, and that did the trick.

Thanks all.

What your screen shot shows is pretty crazy.

Icons usually are 16 pixels square or 32 pixels square. They may be scaled up or down, but that would apply to all of them and not all but one.

What kind of image files does Custom Buttons use? Maybe you can find that icon in a different format that works better.

Can you upload that image, so we can check it?

There may be multiple icon sizes in the image file, so check that.

Jscher2000: They don't say. The create button dialog simply has a field where you specify the path of the icon, where it is. I'm not sure what other format you mean; I can choose any kind of image file, I believe.

I simply searched the net for a 'google icon,' and I found several.

Cor-el: The one I downloaded is only 5KB, and I renamed it, but I'm attaching it. I tried three different icons that I found on the net. The latter two were both supposed to be 16x16 (I thought I recall from my win3.1 days this is the standard size), and both were equally large, both on the toolbar>customize screen and when moved to the toolbar.

That image is a 140px x 140px .png image file. No wonder it is so large in the UI.
