Firefox references a plugin (Macromedia Flash) that does not exist, is outdated, uninstalled, vulnerable; cannot remove entry in Add-ons list.

Windows 7 Pro Firefox 36.0.4 Adobe / Macromedia Flash 16.0.0.235 -> 17.0.0.134

This is a fresh OS install and, apparently, a poorly timed update for Flash that is completely breaking Firefox.

There have been multiple threads regarding duplicate Plug-in entries for Firefox, Flash in particular, and I have attempted all solutions I could come up with via Google searches. Basically, I have completely scoured all traces of Flash files, DLLs, and Registry entries from my computer. It still appears in the Plug-ins, despite Flash no longer being present in any shape or form on this system.

I have uninstalled Flash and Firefox, reinstalled Firefox, and still found the plugin listed.

This is unacceptable. There is no traceback to determine just WHY Firefox still thinks this plugin exists when it does not. At all. I have no idea where else to look, and I am exhausted and frustrated from dealing with this. It's getting to a point where it would be faster and easier just to reinstall Windows 7 from a freshly formatted drive. I'd rather not do that. Help, please.

hello, if you type about:plugins into the address bar of the browser it will show you the list of plugins including their file-path on your system - maybe it's possible to remove it this way...

Thanks. I ended up reformatting and reinstalling Windows 7 anyhow (mainly to troubleshoot a problem with a different app entirely), but as I have other computers that may encounter this, I will give this a shot and report back with my findings should it prove necessary.
