Hi reoz, could you test with the two "Google Features" on the Keyword Search Options page: I'm Feeling Lucky and Browse by Name. Perhaps one of those is the specific method you need instead of generic Google.

I can't find "Keyword.URL Hack!" anymore, the page says it was removed by its author.
Could you see whether this other extension works for you (I tested it recently and it worked for me):
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/keyword-search/
To adjust its options, open the Add-ons page using either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the right side, find the Options button for Keyword Search. Then you can set the search engine for the address bar, and some specific behaviors if relevant.
Success?

I installed the Keyword Search but it does not work as the Keyword.URL Hack.
What isn't working -- it isn't letting you choose a different search engine or...?
The thing that isn't working is the possibility to search direct in the "address field"
What happens when you try to search from the address bar. For example, if you type a term and press the Enter key. It just sits there? Or you get the wrong search engine?
The google page, my start page, opens with suggestions / info about the page I'm looking for. Previously, when the Keeword URl hack functioned, it took me directly to the page in question, without having to pas the google page.

Hi jscher2000,
I selected "I'm Feeling Lucky", and now it works ;)
Thanks for the help
But I do not understand why FireFox doesn't have this function as standard ....
reoz
Hi reoz, if I recall correctly, the address bar was changed to use the same plugin as the search bar for two reasons: (1) possibly getting rid of the search bar in a future version, and (2) users constantly reporting that malware changed keyword.URL (this solves that problem because that preference is ignored).
