Hello pennstater91 Norton lists their compatible versions of the toolbar for firefox at https://community.norton.com/blogs/product-update-announcements/firefox-34-support-norton-toolbar
and also you can easily find out how to add Norton Toolbar to FF.
If Norton is installed properly, Firefox would find it in the registry. If it does not, there may be a problem in the registry itself.
Remove Norton, then re-install the current version.
If there is still a problem, I can tell you how to fix the register.
The proper link since the other was for Firefox 34.0 https://community.norton.com/en/blogs/product-update-announcements/firefox-35-support-norton-toolbar
The Norton toolbar extension for Firefox is not installed in registry, but in Firefox. Firefox makes use of registry every little also.
Unlike most extensions the extensions that ties in with a software like those provided by Norton has to be updated for each new major Firefox version.
Sometimes it can take a few tries in Norton live updating to get updated extension installed in Firefox.
Do I need to purchase Norton from their website? I thought it was included with Firefox download
Firefox installers Only installs Firefox. Nothing else. Norton can be bought on-line, or at a store.
If Norton is not working properly on your Firefox, I can help.

No version of Firefox for Windows, Mac OSX and Linux from www.mozilla.org comes bundled with any applications.
Firefox also does not come with any toolbars as the Norton toolbar is provided by Norton.
