Health report bookmark count wrong, always 3333
Running 35.0.1 on XP sp2 I run the Firefox Health Report. Most of the results seem about right except for the bookmark count which always show 3333. Based on that (and I do have a lot of bookmarks but not that many I think) I started deleting the ones with invalid/dead links but the count remains at 3333. Any ideas?

Your issue seems a bit more complicated and requires more investigation. We're currently looking into it and we'll get back to you with more details ASAP. Please understand that escalations can take up to 72 hours for a response, but no longer.
JAXII, This is strange. Let's try some troubleshooting steps to see if we can find the root of the issue:
- First, if you restart Firefox does this number change?
- Places Maintenance is an add on used for repairing the places.sqlite file in your profile that manages history and bookmarks. Try this to clean out any old entries.
Did this help?
Yes, Firefox has been restarted multiple times and the count 3333 never changes. I checked health on my W7 laptop which is synced (only for bookmarks) and the count was 1569 which seems about right. I installed 'Places Maintenance' apparently successfully but can see no tab or icon to execute it. I looked in all the Tools->options tabs and cannot see any reference to it. Any more thoughts? Thanks
from the Add-ons page for that extension. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/places-maintenance/
About this Add-on You can access the maintenance options through the Options button in the Add-ons Manager.
Places Maintenance run. Count remains at 3333 in spite of removing more bookmarks.

Tried that but can't open all bookmarks at same time to select all. I just started using another desk top e-machine with W7, a new Firefox 35.0.1 and synced my bookmark file and now it claims that I have 14 bookmarks when in actuality I have 1469 (according to my synced W7 laptop). I deleted a couple of BMs from the W7 laptop but the count didn't change. Bottom line is, based on three separate systems, all of which appear to give factitious info, I don't think the issue is worth pursuing. Nevertheless, I appreciate the input and help. Keep warm wherever you are.
The point is to use the search bar in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) and type a common character like a colon (:) to find all the bookmarks. You can also see the total number of bookmarks including separators as part of the names of a JSON backup (bookmarks-####-##-##_xxxx_$$$$.json) in the bookmarkbackups folder or via Import and Backup > Restore in the Library.
Not true, if I do a manual Firefox backup, the file is named Desktop\bookmarks-2015-02-23.json . However if I locate the auto backups that FF does to C:\Users\home\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\hff2gihm.default\bookmarkbackups\bookmarks-2015-02-22_3848_XNgLKBxrrUFfkiwxJS4vdA==.jsonlz4 you are correct. I was unaware that FF does backups of the bookmark files so thanks for pointing me in that direction. I guess I have 3848 bookmarks which seems excessive but could be true as I've got 20 years of bookmarks plus I've seen, on occasion folders that contain duplicates of themselves. However none of this alters the fact that, based on this info/count, FF's health report bookmark count is inaccurate on both my w7 and XP systems.
