It happens every 10 minutes. the jing vid plays the sound at about 2:53 second mark. If anyone can help me with this I would be grateful. BTW I have all windows sounds turned off. Last sentence in above request for help states, "I have refreshed my firefox and it is a temporary fix. I don't know what the catalyst is that causes it to start again." So, yes it helps but only temporarily. I have refreshed numerous times.

If that's the case, then you are likely making some change after each refresh that causes this. Either installing an extension or something.

Also, scan for malware, Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware. Some malware does nothing except random sounds (I've heard some that sound like squealing pigs, etc.)

Do you have an external modem or a built-in software modem?
