New Sync still not working (/questions/1007210)

I have a PC (Windows 7) and I would like to back up my bookmarks, etc, as I'm switching to another PC, so I made sure I had the latest version of firefox and sync. I created a sync account and and got a message that the sync would begin momentarily but nothing has happened (this has been over 2 hours). I also tried the "sync now" option under tools. Is there a way to tell if it's even working since there is no status bar?

I've tried selecting all the items to be synced and disconnecting and reconnecting to firefox and still not working.

Hi Scotty1234 and Wesley, I understand so far that sync is not syncing bookmarks between an older pc and a new pc. The settings have been checked and the account has been disconnected and reconnected.

Please try the following before making changes: Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles this way a work around can be to move the bookmarks manually as a last resort.

Then on the older pc go to accounts.firefox.com and logout then back in. Do the same for the new pc. This should kickstart the sync.

Please ensure that you selected items that you would like to sync. To do so, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Firefox options
  2. Open the sync tab
  3. Check all items that you want Firefox to sync

If this does not work, try disconnecting your sync account, via the Firefox options and log into sync again.

Thanks, but I have done those things and it's still not showing as having synced. Any other ideas?

No extensions but lots of plugins. I had Norton toolbar but it's disabled.
