I use a 15" laptop which display area is inefficiently used by the too popular HTML5/CSS blobs and huge typefaces, I imagine to appeal to tiny phone screens. How can I take back control of my display?

Yeah, that's what I have been fearing, having to toss out the baby with the bathwater.

I hope Mozilla does not join others in jumping lemming-like out through the windows.

Let's see if I can close this threat. My thanks to all.

Hit Alt, then go to View>Page Style. From there you can select Basic or No Style, easily disabling CSS. Doing this makes everything look like a column of text though...

To shrink text, it's best to use the zoom function. On the menu, you can click the "-" button, or on the keyboard, hold down Ctrl and tap the "-" key.

Thank y'all, for your responses. I hadn't thought of no style, I admit. I'll see if I can get along with that display.

Tried Read-Easily. All that it appeared to do is add another access to Page Style.

How about a browser that is incapable or rendering CSS?

You can't just suppress all CCS and expect that this doesn't affect the layout.

Maybe look at the NoSquint extension to only suppress page colors.
