I have a small office with 5 stations to access our one email account and we'd used thunderbird for years, but the lack of integration between the stations meant we changed to Outlook and of course that's a shitshow, so I'm coming back to ask you my self (rather than the tech guy) if there's a way to set up thunderbird so that if desk 1 opens and responds to email 17, that all the desks can see both that it happened and access the responce that desk 1 sent.
We have an IMAP email account hosted locally (as in, not a gmail account, or the like).
I'd be more than happy to pay for a piece of software that I could use. I've used Thunderbird (and Eudora) for decades and I'd like to continue to support it. But moreover, I'd like an email server that doesn't limit my account size (I use email for "corporate history") and one that would allow my individual staff members to see everyone's activity in the email server.
I had most recently (like 6 months ago?) been using thunderbird. My Tech guy said it was the most current version, but I couldn't tell you what it was.
We run on Windows -- most on 11 but a couple still on 10 until I can take the time to set up the new computers.

I'm having a recurring problem with discrepancies in the message count when I move emails from one Thunderbird folder to another. I regularly "sort" my emails into specific folders based on topics and other search criteria, but I frequently encounter situations where the number of messages I see on screen in a folder is less than what Thunderbird lists as the total number of messages in the folder. Why is this happening and how can I view the missing / hidden messages?

But after shutting down Thunderbird and starting Thunderbird again, the folders are back... How do I delete the folders to not see them anymore?

I had Thunderbird on my Windows 10 computer. I bought a new Windows 11 computer and downloaded Thunderbird. When I try to set up my email account, I provide my full name (not my Thunderbird user name) and email address. The next screen has the message "Configuration found in Mozilla ISPDB ". I clicked on IMAP and hit continue. The next screen I type in my password for my Spectrum mail account. I have confirmed that the password works went I log onto the Spectrum website. The next screen has the Authentication error "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password.". I've also tried using my Thunderbird user name and Password instead of my full name and Spectrum password with the same results. I know my Thunderbird user name is correct but I can't be 100% sure that my Thunderbird password is correct.
I'm not sure if this matters but my email has the has the extension ----@socal.rr.com. This was assigned to me by my original email provider, which was Time Warner Cable. Spectrum bought Time Warner Cable a few years ago and I think Spectrum uses a different extension.

When I went to the Trash folder, I found both emails had been combined into one file. Is that "threading"? I don't want any emails to be combined together EVER. Previously I had checked the "Unthreaded" box in Settings; so if this was threading, why did it happen?
Another question: I couldn't find anything to do with this combined file but to delete it. Did the act of deleting it also delete the attachments, which probably contained viruses?
This "threading" business has been going on for years now. I always check the options that supposedly disable it, but then it keeps happening.

I contacted Apple and, of course, as the emails were double binned they were unable to help me. I then remembered I was using Thunderbird on an older MacBook, MacOS 10.14.6. I have been using maildir as the message storage format for six months. I have known that the implementation is not complete and that there are several known bugs, so using it is risky.
My reports that I have not experienced any problems may have encouraged other people to use maildir, so now I must report a problem.
Twice recently, my IMAP inbox did not show all messages. Repairing the folder worked the first time. The second time, repairing the folder causes all messages in the folder to disappear. Worse, it seems that it deleted the inbox file in the file system.
I do not know if this data loss was due to maildir. It may have been.
I have returned to using mbox.

Hi, Local folders seem destined to be compacted (Trimmed). Can I make a folder or email undeletable? I'd love to keep some. Thanks

HELLO! I'm having a problem with some messages. If I receive a message and the program places it in the "Offers" section, then when I try to move it to the "Inbox" section, it disappears. And I can't find it anywhere! This isn't just a problem with the latest version of Thunderbird, but has been for a long time. Today I received several messages from my bank that the program classified as "Offers," but when I tried to move them to the "Inbox" section, they disappeared!! Where are they? It's very frustrating because now these messages aren't even on the server!

Hello, I have the latest version of Thunderbird. I have a problem for 2 weeks and every day I'm working to solve this problem. I have 17 accounts and Thunderbird shows me only 15 accounts. It hides 2 yahoo accounts. If I add other not yahoo account, there are no problems, I can add them. But if I add a yaoo account, Thunderbird doesn't show it/them on Unified folders. I now have to right click the email, select "move to", then select the account containing the archives, then select "archives", then select the destination archive I need to send it to. On the right click drop-down there's an option to "move to *** again" but if you're moving emails to different archive destinations, that's not very helpful. Is there a setting to reinstate drag and drop?
