My computer has not worked for nine months.

I've been looking at my e-mail on my phone (not in Thunderbird for Android, which pretended to send my messages but didn't). I want it on my computer.

I didn't want to do that right away, but it looks like Thunderbird started doing that automatically when I launched it. It successfully got my small account, of course, but not my big one.

It's been stuck on this for more than 12 hours. (See image. My apologies, I've forgotten how to embed them.)

Is it safe to shut the process down? Whether it is or isn't, what do I do next?

My computer is a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012), running OS X.15 (Catalina), with Thunderbird 140.0.1esr (64-bit). The process started before I could upgrade to 149esr.

UPDATE, 4/11, 8PM EDT: No change. . . .

Thunderbird (actual version) is demanding constantly for caldav- and carddav authentications although the two mail accounts are deleted in Thunderbird. How can I get rid of these annoying messages?

It would be great if you could help me restore the view and, consequently, access to my email accounts in Thunderbird under the circumstances described. Thank you!

good morning , I am using a mac mini 8 gb ram and the latest ios, avg antivirus and vpn. Following the latest ios update in feb/2026 thunderbird opens then locks with a rotating color circle and force quit is needed to close it. Emails are via the imap and smtp protocols, with both not being recognised by the server. Can you help, I need access to files from thunderbird. Can this be done offline, avoiding the server problem. thank you for your help. Jeff

I recently replaced my Mail with Thunderbird. The left pane successfully loaded my mail folders but now I want t create new folders and insert them alphabetically. How do I d this?

Have been using Thunderbird and Firefox for decades, naturally, and have several email accounts. Within each account, I'm a prolific user of folders within the respective Inboxes. For years, these folders have remained in Alphabetical Order, as when they were set up. Recently, however, for no reason that I can suss, the sub-folders in the Inbox of one of my accounts have been gone "all agley", ie. they're listed all higgledy-piggledy in random order. This isn't a problem for my message filter - but it's a real problem for me, having to scan down a very long, disorganised list to find any particular folder I want to open. I've searched for an instruction to instruct Thunderbird to arrange the Folders in my Inbox in Alphabetical Order and can't find anything. Can anyone help me, please. I am looking for the option to have each email row display ~3-5 lines of preview text directly under the subject line in inbox pane. Without it, it's very difficult to manage the email load.

How do I do that?

2 months ago, after an update the programme opens then locks with the cursor being a multicolor rotating wheel. All is locked and the only option is to 'Force Quit" to close the programme down. Can you help ? thank you

I wish to do a mass import of vcf cards, how? I have a list of VCF cards exported from Outlook that I can import one by one, is there not a way to do a mass import?

Ich benutze Thunderbird gewühnlich in Deutschland und bin jetzt in Chile (+4 Stunden). Das Notebook zeigt die chilenische Zeit an (CLT), die Nachrichten werden aber mit UTC, also +3 Stunden, gespeichert und angezeigt. Wie kann ich die Zeiten der Bearbeitung und Speicherung in CLT (wahlweise in MEZ, deutsche Zeit) speichern.

The Subject line shows 'Invoice from XYZ' but the correspndents line show ABC. Both of these suppliers use Netsuite. This also happens with other emails from other Netsuite users.

Thunderbird in the past showed a red number above the dock icon telling me I had so many new emails. The newest version I now have does not do that and I cannot find a setting for that. Anyone know how to get the number back????

1. Some messages come to my mobile devices but not to my Mac. 2. I watch a message down load but it doesn't end up in my inbox or junk folder. 3. Junk folder says there are 14 messages in it, but when I open it, it's empty. 4. Yes, I'm up to date with Thunderbird. Also, the Mac is up to date. Problem began before latest updates. I have shut down the Mac. I have quit the Thunderbird application. No improvement. 5. I use Comcast for my ISP.

It's pretty much in the title. My in box freezes up and no emails arrive. Microsoft will drop drop down a box asking me if I want to open THUNDERBIRD and says make sure I'm using a trusted server - app??? I don't understand any of this!

In trying to resolve an issue with email apparently not connecting (receiving new message and sending messages) I used the Troubleshooting Information option and selected the "Clear startup cache" option which resulted in mail disappearing but leaving calendar and contacts intact.

I've attempted to Import the profile backup to restore mail but it has not restored the mail.

I have also tried to re-add the mail account but it stalls at the Oauth stage with what appears to be some sort of dialogue box graphic trying to to open but not opening so am unable to add mail account back that way.
