Hello, I use Thunderbird with the system default theme (dark on win 11). It is great, and when reading Emails, the background is white. So no mails get messed up. But when replying to mails, the background of the textarea is black and some mails do have black text. So it is impossible to write a mail and keep calm.

Is it in the config or somewhere else possible, to change the color of the textarea to always white / bright?

I do not need any information on how to change the theme for everything to bright as this is not an option.

Hi, In TB 102 the menu toolbar was still above the button toolbar, if I am not mistaken. In TB 115 this seems to have changed... I could not find a way to customize it back as it was. Pointers anyone ? Thank you.

As i have few email account within Thunderbird, the list becomes kind long to scroll when to see the new emails. Is there a way maybe or if an addon exists to have each mail box open and to have just the inbox folder under neat and all other to show only if you click a drop down arrow? see image.

I use Thunderbird 115.1.0. "Show only display name for people in my address book" is not selected in the preferences. The "Full Address column" Add-on does not work with version 115.*

In all folders the names of message senders/recipients are displayed instead of the e-mail addresses. For example, it shows "My Name" in the outbox - not name@example.org, my@name.com etc. In the inbox, it is "Anna Bel" and "Zack Miller" instead of "support@mozilla.org".

I am not interested in the names. When I want to see those, I look into the mail. I need the mail addresses!

How do I get back the addresses? (I think Netscape Mail did have that feature.)

The chosen answer to a similar question, "use Full Address column Add-on", does not work for Thunderbird 115.* and up.

With the new Supernova version 115.4.2, something in my address book no longer works as before.

“Display name instead of name from header”

is very important to me because it contains important information about the sender. Unfortunately it is no longer displayed in the email overview, even though I have checked all the boxes correctly.

What can I do about that?

You can see in the email that only the address is displayed, but not the display name.

Currently on TB 115.3.1 but this problem existed on 102 and earlier. My email is all Pop (and not Imap).

I made filters to put some emails into the Local Junk folder and that works fine. The only emails in the Local Junk folder are those resulting from the actions of my filters. I've checked and the junk folder is the "Junk- Local folders" and not some other junk folder that I might have created.

The Local Junk folder setting (as well as individual mail account junk settings) is to automatically delete emails after 21 days. But nothing ever gets deleted and I have to delete manually.

Is there some master setting that I've missed somewhere?

I cannot adjust the message pane height to anything smaller than 10 lines. I would like to be able to pull up and resize the pane so that I see more of my message and less of the lists of messages in my folder.

Thunderbird 115.2.0 on Windows 11. User idiocy not ruled out.

Very often when I'm composing an e-mail and swap between windows, ctrl-V to paste doesn't work, but instead sets variable width. (The nearest reference I find online is Ctrl-T to set fixed width.) Thunderbird seems not to remember when I come back to the window that I'm in the composition pane/message pane/ bit where you type the message.

It's almost as if it defaults to the formatting bit of the screen. Except that I've _only_ noticed that arising with pasting; and I do switch between programs for other purposes, so if it were really that, even an idiot user would surely have noticed odd behaviour at other times. (Never underestimate idiocy.)

It's annoying that I can't routinely switch between programs and paste *into the text box I'd just been typing in before switching*. The real problem, though, is that I can click or double-click repeatedly in the message pane of the composition window, moving the cursor between clicks in a hopeful fashion, and still not get the desired result - Thunderbird seems determined that I really want to change formatting and nothing else. So far, right-clicking to paste does work, once I remember it - but 20-odd years of habit are working against me, as is the fact that sometimes ctrl-V does do what I expect first time, so I'm not retraining my habits very well and can take about 5 steps to achieve a simple copy-paste.

No similar problems using Word, etc. I have only recently learned of the wizardry that is ctrl-shift-V, and have never remembered to use it unless reminded by unwanted formatting, so can't swear to its behaviour.

I have tbkeys lite, and can't claim to understand what I'm doing with it, but I can usually follow simple instructions without excessive sobbing. I'd happily disable all formatting functions, if that was necessary, since I send only plain text.

Hello, I have been using a custom userChrome.css in the past, but it does not work since I upgraded to 115.0.1

Is the userChrome.css still supported? I have turned it on in config mgr, and tried every resource I cna find on the web, but my userChrome.css is ignored.

Can anyone provide any help or insight as to why Thunderbird is sooooo determined to show me all of my 10 year old emails first? I have followed the documentation to change the order of emails shown but its still puts emails from 2013 right there at the top. Additionally, can anyone provide any insight as to why, and I do mean WHY, folks who are sharp enough to code an email client for commercial release are simultaneously so dull that they don't realize that setting the out of the box default sort settings of that email client to show oldest emails first is a misguided choice at best.

When I compose an email, the text is minute. Variable width, medium setting.

I have followed every step I can find to change font size, change density, change zoom, change config and nothing seems to work. The composition font size is so tiny I can barely read it. The attached image shows what I am talking about.

Everything changed a couple of updates ago. Until then all was normal. I have used Thunderbird for many years but this could be fatal for me if not fixable.

How to get the URL for a specific Label from Google cardDAV to import into Address Book of same Label?

This is the GENERIC url for the DEFAULT gmail contacts sync:

Is there a way to customize this URL to get ONLY the LABEL from the entire contacts list?

For Example:

We spend an inordinate amount of time organizing our business contacts and it is exceedingly difficult and time consuming to try to synchronize because all we can apparently access is the ENTIRE directory, not specific sub-categories.

New versions of Thunderbird has a default layout with organize by conversation selected. I prefer not to use such view and uncheck the tick so all messages are shown in a list. On the main screen it works just fine but when I use "show in a conversation" command on a message it opens in a new window where view layout is default again. I can switch to list view, but whenever I open this or any other conversation it opens with a default view again.

Hello, I have several email aliases in Thunderbird but I am unable to send email as from the aliases. The pull down menu for sender does not have the aliases in it. Even reply from alias messages does not use the alias address. I thought is was working at one time but now I'm not sure.

The new UI has this massive customizable toolbar at the top of the screen, it wastes a lot of space and doesn't look good compared to the old UI, you can fully customize it even leaving it blank but that does not remove it entirely and it looks off with just a blank nothing up there, where is the option to completely remove this new toolbar?

I place a copy of Sent emails into "Local Folders/SentCopies" to avoid brief retrieval delays after sending (I use IMAP accounts--Outlook and Gmaill).

Trouble is, my tree display of Local Folders includes Both a "SentCopies" folder and a "Sent" folder (apparently the Account Settings for Local Folders in the past was set for a day to "Sent" for "Place a copy...", before changing to "SentCopies.")

To clean up the tree display and make it less confusing, I would like to remove "Sent" from the Local Folder Display, and see only "SentCopies" in Local Folders, (and continue to see "Sent" and also each account in Unified Folders).

My question: If I use Windows file explorer to delete 2 folders and a file from the Profile/Mail/Local Folders...(the folders "Sent" and "Sent.mosmsgs" and the file "Sent.msf"), will the Unified folders and tree display for Unified and Local folders continue to work normally? Will TB continue to track "Sent" items for both accounts in Unified Folders/Sent, and continue to show and update the "SentCopies" folder in the tree display For Local Folders? And will those deletions remove the usless and confusing folder labeled "Sent" in the Local Folder tree display?

SuperNova is working fine with my two IMAP accounts.

I had my userCrome.css set to widen line spacing in the message list, among other things. Updating to Þb 115 broke this, and since I can't inspect the css, I don't know how to fix this again.

My current css includes:

The latest version of Thunderbird changed the top menu, and I see a "Get Messages" button, but can't find "Send Unsent Messages" as a function anywhere. I've tried customizing the menu, and I've looked through older help discussions for any ideas, and I've prowled through the settings menus and can't seem to find it. I've also tried right-clicking on things - no joy. I have a message waiting to go out in the Outbox, but no way to send it except Redirect.

When I haqve an email open in Thunderbird and I want to view the next email, currently, I must go back to the email list and click on the next email. I would like to have a "NEXT" button at the top of the current email in order to directly open the next email. My only choices right now are: REPLY FORWARD ARCHIVE JUNK DELETE and MORE. (see image) Is there a way to do this ? Thanks
