I use Thunderbird to download my email from my Gmail account. On 24 May I closed down Thunderbird in the afternoon, later that evening I opened up Thunderbird to check on my emails, Thunderbird indicated it would start after it finished downloading the latest update. I have been unable to access my emails from Gmail since that update. I did receive a message indicating that there might be a problem with the number of server connections to cache. My connections were set to the default 5 connections. I tried resetting to 10 but I still could not download my emails. I also tried setting to 4 but still was unable to download any emails. Just in case the problem was only with downloading emails I tried sending an email but I received the following message: “Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.” I have tried the “Troubleshooting” option under “Help” but nothing is happening. I am running Windows 10 and Thunderbird 91.9.1 (32-bit)

Today Thunderbird stopped being able to reach the Yahoo server to access my mail. It tries to search for mail but says that the connection to the Yahoo server timed out. I am able to download and send mail from my Yahoo account if I use their webmail site or phone app but not Thunderbird. Mailbird (which I just downloaded to see if it would work) was also able to download Yahoo mail. I checked the Thunderbird account settings (set for POP which I prefer to keep for various reasons) and they are the same as they've ever been. I'm using Thunderbird version 91.9.0 which worked just fine until today. It does seem to still work when accessing a different email (GMX) account.

Any help would be appreciated. I would like to be able to continue using Thunderbird which has been my mail program of choice for many years.

I started my Mac Thunderbird 2 days ago and all of my email accounts were blank.

Everything from the Library files were deleted.

Anything to offer? This happened about 5-6 years ago.

I can go into my TimeMachine back-up and redo the entire drive or, hopefully, less than that just all of the Thunderbird stuff in the Library section.

Regardless, how the hell does this happen? This occured after updating to your latest version a day or so earlier.

Suddenly, Thunderbird stopped delivering emails from one pop 3 gmx.net account (the others are okay, including an IMAP gmx.net account). TB DOES still deliver these emails to my IPhone SE (15.4.1--the current OS). I use TB 91.9.1 on a MacBook Pro OS 10.14.6. I have checked all the settings on TB and GMX. I have deleted a lot of emails and cleaned the cache and compressed folders. I deactivated the firewall. Nothing works. Please help! Nancy

This has never happened before. I've been using Thunderbird for years. I've never heard of " reached daily sending limits for this IP" What is up??? Incoming email is fine. It keeps coming in.

Many messages retrieved from my live.com accounts just show a lot of HTML gobbledygook and I have to browse to my accounts to read them. Also, some are messages I want to copy to another folder in Tbird and save. Is there any way to force Tbird to re-retrieve a message that doesn't download properly?

Edit> I should mention that my workaround is to access my account on line and forward the message to myself, but that wrecks the date-time sequencing. Seems like there must be a better solution?

I'm new to PC's. I have very basic knowledge of how to use an i-pad. A month ago I got myself a new MacBook. I installed Thunderbird, no problems. My old mail showed up, new mail came in. I installed GNupg.

Following FSF's excellent tutorial I set up Thunderbird with encryption, all good. Now I'm at the point where I 'should try it out' by sending 'Edward' my public key. This worked as I immediately got an encrypted e-mail from 'Edward' in my Apple inbox. However, on Thunderbird I was left hanging with a constantly spinning disc which I presumed meant Thunderbird was trying to retrieve said e-mail. This did not resolve.

After clicking here and there on Thunderbird's interface, I ended up at the account set up screen being prompted for my e-mail address and password. Three weeks had passed and I couldn't remember my password, nor find a note of it. I only have access to account set up and homepage. On homepage I looked through the 'hamburger' menu but I can't find anything that helps. So, I'm locked out of Thunderbird mail.

Any help would be appreciated on both how to resolve the password issue, and what might have gone wrong in retrieving 'Edwards' mail.

I send out 4 or 5 small photos to a dozen friends each week. (Less than a megabyte each) For some of them, the email ends in their SPAM folder with the message "This email has failed its domain's authentication requirements. It may be spoofed or improperly forwarded!" I've done this for years with no problems. Only since about TB version 91.9.0 have I had this problem. Note: it may have started after I used TB's "inline images" option in attachments. Please advise.

I have spent hours on this but have not solved it. I recently installed Restoro software with CyberGhost and had some problems which were solved by adding VPN exceptions. However, even with these turned off (including VPN) the problem persists.

i cannot receive from Gmail addresses either.

In brief I can send emails from Thunderbird to any addresses except Gmails. I can not received emails from Gmail addresses either.

I'm using Thunderbird 91.9.1 on Ubuntu. I have other issues going on that make me decide to just reinstall the OS. I want to back up Thunderbird and I already know how to do so by copying the relevant profile folder in .thunderbird. However, I have been dealing with the Inbox "A unique identity matching the from address was not found" bug. For others looking for that error, it does seem to be a known bug, using Ctrl-o to open the email is a workaround. This does not affect any other folders. Using the Repair Folder option does not solve the issue.

So what I want to achieve is to export everything except the Inbox itself. What I'd like to know is the best way to achieve this.

Is it better to create a new profile after the reinstall and just copy everything except inbox and inbox.msf from the existing profile or to copy the entire old profile over, set the new install to use that old profile and then copy the inbox and inbox.msf files from the default profile created during the install?

I am a long time user of T-bird now on version 91.9.1 (32-bit) using Win 10, home. I use T-bird as a client for my gmail.

My Tbird and email work fine but it does not "get messages" when I click. I have Account Settings/Server Settings set to "check for new messages every 10 minutes" but sometimes it can be hours before it queries the server. I have found that if I exit T-bird and re-open twice, it contacts the server and pulls down the pending email. Not once; it has to be twice. Most of it comes in through gand when it pulls down messages seems to be random.

I let Thunderbird download the latest version. Result? It wouldn't run at all, crashing immediately after clicking on it to load. I had to download the previous version to be able to use it. I'm on an iMac running Mac OS Monterey 12.3.1. Needless to say, I will never allow a future download of Thunderbird.

Whenever I try to send an email from Thunderbird on one of my Force9 (PlusNet) accounts, I get an error message like this (1st image).

Retry gives an endless cycle of the same message. Enter New Password gives an opportunity to enter a new password, resulting in the same error message. Cancel gives the 2nd image.

ISP Plusnet Broadband provider Virgin Operating System Windows 11 Thunderbird version 91.9.1
