Hello, I have recently changed my Host and in the process of trying to reconfigure my server details for my new mail account I accidentally removed my account, thereby losing all mails and folders including my customer database, which leaves me feeling bereft.

Looking at similar questions it seems that it is possible to restore the lost mails and folders but unfortunately I am not that savy with this stuff and find it all rather difficult and scary.

Are there any step by step instructions on how I can restore my account or simply get access to my lost mails and folders ?

When I use the "webmail" it goes through. There a conflict in formatting with TB and Network Solutions which just started this morning.

I have been a happy user of Thunderbird for >>10 years, and it has been solid most of the time. But now, it suddenly has been in a mode of constantly "Not Responding". It will be completely non-responsive for maybe 30 minutes, and then partially recover until I do something else, using about 18% of CPU and < 500MB memory. At this point, it is essentially not functional, but it is not crashing completely.

Sometimes I get message that the mail host did not respond to DELE command or that the mail host is not responding due to timeout. I figure this is just because it has reached the max timeout.

I have installed the latest version of Thunderbird, (102.1.0), deleted all the .msf files and went to each folder and rebuilt it. Real-time virus protection turned off for testing. This is running on Windows 10. This sort of started after the recent Windows 10 update, so perhaps other people are encountering this. I did not see this exact same problem.

Sometimes it hangs really badly and provides a little tiny image of the window, about 1/2" tall and 2" wide. Then I have to kill the process. I attached a typical process summary when this is hung. It is completely not responsive for many minutes each time. I don't get an error message every time. It definitely hangs if I check for mail from the server, or sometimes try to delete a message. Here, I started Thunderbird in safe mode, with no plugins, and with real-time virus scanning disabled.

Attempted to get email, It hung (Not Responding) After 30 minutes, received this message:

Sending of password for user ____ did not succeed. Mail server mail.XXXXX.com responded: Disconnected for inactivity during authentication.

Login to mail.XXXXXXX.com failed with username ____ failed. (retry, enter new password, cancel) Entered password. Then it accepted password.

Downloading message NNN of 1078

Proceeded without problem to message 198 of 1078

Then, "Login to server mail.XXXXX.com with username ____ failed. (retry, enter new password, cancel) Hourglass... can't enter new password. Started hourglass at 10:06am.

10 minutes later: "The DELE command did not succeed. Error marking a message as deleted. Mail server responded: Disconnected for inactivity."

was able to delete messages in the Inbox and to reply to one email.

Selected mailbox "WhiteBulkBox" Hung again, starting at 10:48am Process display looks similar to the clip attached. recovered at 11:04am Selected folder properties, then Repair Folder. Hourglass. not responding. 11:43 Recovered. Random request for password popped up. WhiteBulkBox should be repaired. Clicked "Repair Folder" again. There are only 501 messages in the folder. 504MB size. Hourglass at 11:45. Same process listing. 12:24 noticed it had recovered. Clicked ok without re-repairing the folder. Clicked on first item in the folder. Hourglass. 12:25pm Same process listing. 21 to 37% CPU Gave up at 2pm. Killed the process. restarted in troubleshoot mode, 2:01 pm. Hourglass. Recovered by 2:40. opened Inbox of one email. Hourglass at 2:44 3.24pm was able to delete several files form Inbox. Now it is empty. Properties, repair folder. Hourglass. Crazy that it would have such trouble repairing an empty folder. recovered at 4:07pm. Now show 0 messages in Inbox, but size on disk is still 87.8MB. That seems sort of strange. Clicked "Repair Folder" again. Finished quickly. There was one message in the folder, marked ***SPAM***. This is strange because I had turned off automatic checking for new messages. Hourglass started at 4:11 pm 4:35pm recovered. Checked server settings, all set to not automatically check for new messages, did not make any further changes. Selected inbox of one user, Repaired Folder, finished quickly. But then went into hourglass mode. 4:37pm 4:57 recovered. Clicked on folder "WhiteInBox", clicked "Repair Folder" no hangup. Back to WhiteBulkBox. Clicked it, Not responding. 5:00pm 5:20pm recovered. This WhiteBulkBox seems to be a key problem, and may be the reason getting new mail fails. Right-clicked the folder, Properties, Repair Folder, hourglass. 5:22pm 6:16pm recovered. clicked OK Now try to delete messages in WhiteBulkBox. clicked first message, message displayed. no problem at first. press DEL key, hourglass. 6:17pm still hung, 7:30pm. I think like the last time, this will not recover, but I will let it run to see. Meanwhile, I will submit this information and hopefully someone might have a similar experience. Please help! Otherwise, I will have to abandon Thunderbird.

I am hoping someone can help me with the following please.

One of the reasons I use Thunderbird (currently updated to 102.1.1 (32-bit) is because I have several email accounts and need to create several incoming filters to direct emails to various mail folders. This has worked fine since I set it all up in early 2019.

However (yesterday?), one of my accounts has disappeared from the displayed folders list (left side of screen) for no apparent reason. That account still appears in the settings list and it also appears in the profile/mail folder, with contents, in Windows Explorer. I have tried deleting the folderTree.json file (& folderCache.json), with no effect.

As an aside, in case it is relevant, two new folders have appeared in the displayed folders list. One is popstate-1.dat which has appeared as a sub folder in another account (below the inbox, sent, etc folders). The other is a totally blank folder (unnamed) at the same level as the main account folders.

Any help in assisting me to get my lost account folder back will be very much appreciated!

Hello I just downloaded Thunderbird but fear I may have batched my email transfer from my gmail account. I started clicking around my archive before letting all the emails get received and it might have messed something up.

I see that Thunderbird successfully received my emails before 12/15/2011 but it stopped there. How do I get it to receive all my other emails from the past 10+ years?

Secondly, when an email is in Thunderbird, does that mean its safely downloaded onto my comp and I can delete from my gmail? Or do I need to download the emails from Thunderbird into some kind of file format?

I have version 102.1.1 installed on iMAC Monterey 12.5. As the message received is larger than as set, I should click the link "Download the rest of the message". But nothing happens. In the past (older TB version) that always worked well. I checked all settings but could not find anything related. Fortunately the full message could be retrieved directly from the webmail server. Restarting TB did not help.

When I set Thunderbird in debug mode there does not help to get the bug report to send the report.

The release notes reiterate that the version is only available as a direct download. One can only assume that if 102.1.0, for example, is already installed, that there must be some preferred procedure for using the download to update the existing installation.

Unfortunately there is no mention of any such procedure. There is no README. There is no INSTALL file. There is an executable called updater but running it yields:

Usage: updater patch-dir install-dir apply-to-dir [wait-pid [callback-working-dir callback-path args...]]

which is far from explanatory.

Since these updates are obviously generated by some sort of build script, it would seem to be a simple matter to add or clarify the update procedure. Once done, the work would not need to be repeated.

I would urge the developers to remember that not everyone who uses Thunderbird is a mozilla developer. The users lack many of the skills and background that are second nature to the developers. Without a bit more clarity, the average user cannot benefit from all the developer's hard work unless they can actually install the updates.

I downloaded Thunderbird 102.0.1 and updated to 102.0.3 and love the format and looks. Had some issues with the calendar, but finally figured it out with help from help group on Reddit, but so far I haven't found any reference to, or solution to this issue.

After the upgrade when my emails come into my mailbox, they just stay there, I have to manually run the command to run the rules on folder. I want the rules to automatically start running when all of the mail is downloaded, with no help from me. Like they used to do in the old version. I don't want to have to retype all of my rules, there are over 300 of them, and I never have any luck with importing.

Please help. It's driving me nuts.

Email Text Link Will Not Open ONLY in Thunderbird

New to Thunderbird (TB). TB v 102.1.1 (64bit) Mac Mini late 2012 macOS 10.15.7 Catalina.

Situation: My coach sent me a link to download a PDF. She sent the email with both an image link and a text link. I use "Choosy" as my browser, a nifty Mac App that allows me to choose any of my four browsers.

The Problem: I have normally been using Kiwi for Gmail v3.5.0. IMPORTANT: Both links work. The image link AND the text link are clickable. I also checked using MailPlane, another Mac App, and again, Both links, the image link and the text link were clickable.

However, only in Thunderbird does the "text link not work". The image link does work, i.e. it will open in my browser.

What I've done: > Cleared the cache > Open in Troubleshoot mode > Referred to this help link (nothing helped): https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/hyperlinks-in-messages-not-working > Tried Message Body "Simple HTML" ==> Only the 'image link' becomes an HTML clickable link. The text link remains as text. > Just for funzies: Copied the text link and pasted into Chrome, it opened the PDF. > Another for funzies: I copied the PDF link from my browser, pasted it into another account using TB, send the email with the "text link" to another account. batta-bing-batta-boom, the link showed up.

My Conclusion: I'm a bit mystified. There has to be some setting problem in TB. Because as I mentioned earlier, both the image link and text link open in my browser when using Kiwi for Gmail and MailPlane App. Only in TB the text link will not open.

Open to any suggestions. Please note: no biggie as the image link is clickable.

I do not have filtering or blockers set up and it's only Facebook email that isn't getting delivered. Any idea what's going on?
