Messages not Showing body in Message pane

When opening my email, it shows that I have new emails. When I click on the messages, the message will continue showing "unread" and will not display in the message pane at the bottom. There is a link that says "Forward this conversation" but even that link does not work, nor do any of the buttons to reply, forward or delete. I can right click on the message, select "open message in new tab" and then I can read the message, reply, forward and so on. If I click on "open message in a new window" it comes up with a black white window with the "Forward this conversation" link that does not work. I also noticed that when I start a new message and attach a file, it no longer shows on the right side of the email in the box, it is now showing at the bottom of the message with a small icon. What is causing the message pane to not work? It has the latest version update installed, I have restarted and shut down all running programs, but nothing is working.

The latest version of Thunderbird (91.1.2 (64-bit)) installed yesterday. Before the installation I was able to send emails on all my accounts. After the installation I cannot send emails on any of the accounts.

When I reply to an email, the send button is greyed out. When I make a new email and click on send nothing happens. I can still receive emails. There are no messages that I am doing anything wrong.

I have four separate accounts, each with their own SMTP server. Send doesn't work on any of them. My OS is Windows 10 and is up to date. My antivirus is McAfee LiveSafe (16.0) and it is up to date.

I have used and loved Thunderbird email app for years, but the updated version 91.2.1, (on iMac with Mojave), the Folder pane is now dark gray with black print so I can hardly read the folder names (see photo), also the drop downs (i.e. Tags) are gray and no long show the list of Tags in the colors assigned though tagged emails are colored properly. Please tell me this is not a new "feature"! Hopefully it will be corrected soon? Thanks!

Please help, many very important emails have disappeared. They were organized in sub folders off the Inbox. After the last upgrade, almost every sub-folder disappeared. I have an ongoing legal process that I need those emails for, plus several other important emails. Not all subfolders are missing, but most are. The mode is IMAP and I am will Bell, Sympatico.

The operating system is Windows 10 Pro (not a fan), upgraded months ago from Win7 Pro. The OS is completely up to date.

Is this a danger from the auto-upgrade process? This should never be allowed to happen.

Passwords are not being saved even when I click to save with password manager.

Older posts suggest deleting:

  \Users\userid\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\defaultProfile\pkcs11.txt
  

but this file is not present in the latest version.

An earlier version of Thunderbird was uninstalled before the latest version was downloaded and installed.

I have been using ~10 email accounts in thunderbird for years now, ~8 are gmail and recently one of them wanted me to re-authenticate. Every one of the gmail accounts is configured in the same way; I'm using SSL/TLS with Oauth2.

So when I open TB, I get a popup screen for me to log into gmail with the addy pre-entered. I hit next and I am returned to the same page with the email blank. I dont get asked for password, i don't get told that it's an invalid email or that the account doesn't exist. I'm stuck in an endless loop.

I can log into the account through a web browser and dont get any notifications of issues or concerning access attempts. The other 7 gmail accounts continue to work. How do I fix this?

It is impossible to access Thunderbird v91.1 (x64 - Win7) settings. Thunderbird freezes, consumes all available RAM and crashes every other time. When it doesn't crash, the certificates are not manageable. Thunderbird starts consuming all the RAM again and doesn't respond anymore...

Thunderbird behaves the same way with the "general" settings. This problem has existed since the upgrade to version 91.

I have one email address in regular use: xxxxxx@ntlworld.com. I have had two other email addresses in the past (both gmail.com), neither of which has been used for at least a couple of years. But for the last several weeks, I have been getting repeated popup pages from Thunderbird nearly full screen interrupting anything else I am doing asking me to sign into my Google account using one of the redundant addresses. If I ignore this and close the window, it pops up again a few seconds later. If I log in as requested, it is replaced by another page requesting permission for Mozilla Thunderbird to "Read, compose, send, and permanently delete all your email from Gmail". This I have denied as it seems an unwarranted intrusion. But the requests for login using the redundant address continue every few seconds. How can I prevent this, and allow the redundant email address to rest in peace? Or, how can I delete the redundant addresses permanently? I'm using Thunderbird 91.2.1

I've had an issue with Thunderbird where anytime I try and access the Preferences (Tools > Preferences (Options), my memory spikes to 90%+ usage (5GB ram) and doesnt respond.

It's really strange, everything else works fine. Browsing the inbox, viewing / sending emails, the account settings works, I can add / remove accounts but anytime I go to the Preferences, it doesnt respond and Memory climbs to 5GB used (see attached image).

Thunderbird on the inbox idles at 600MB

Going to safe mode allows me to edit the settings just fine, it is just when in normal mode where it spikes.

Thunderbird is on the latest version (91.1.2) (64bit) and the PC is up to date on Windows and has been restarted since occurring.

Mail will not open on Thunderbird after successfully installed it on my new iPAD. Thuderbird icon appears on home window of the iPAD; it has a 63 on it, showing messages to be viewed. When I click on that icon a window opens: at top of that window is ACCOUNT ADDED. Below that is MAIL. The control tab for that Icon is in the open position (i.e., slid to right showing green on left). When I click on that MAIL, nothing happens. Also, on the window with Mail, are three other options: Contacts, Calendars, and Notes. Mail and Contacts are the two that show they are in open status. Calendars and notes is in the closed position.

I was having problems with the previous Thunderbird version, 91.2.0, so I started using the beta. When 91.2.1 was released I uninstalled the beta and installed 91.2.1. When I tried to load Thunderbird I got a message that I needed to create a new profile. I uninstalled 91.2.1 and tried to go back to the beta so I could check the settings and do a smooth migration, but I got the same message saying I need to create a new profile. I then uninstalled the beta and went back to 91.2.1, and tried to create a new profile but I'm stuck. Attempting to create a new profile didn’t fix anything, I’m still locked out and there is no option to access my old profile. I also don't know what the old settings were since I haven't had to look at them or change them in years. I have been reading through the support files, but all they do is describe the issue I’m having without offering an actual fix. One of the articles titled, “Dedicated profile per Thunderbird installation” at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/dedicated-profile-thunderbird-installation says, “Downgrade protection can be overridden by launching Thunderbird through the command line with the --allow-downgrade parameter.” But when I click the link it says, “Page not found” https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Command_Line_Options I only use Thunderbird for newsgroups. How can I load the new version of Thunderbird and access my previous settings or transfer them to a new install?

Using the last release of Thunderbird (version 91.2.0) for a Mac running Big Sur (OS version 11.6) when applying the "Format> Page colors and background", the Thunderbird app will always crash, Then you have to force quit the app to close it and all entries are lost for that email. This occurs every time this feature is applied. The latest release appears to be very unstable.

I just noticed the majority of my email folders are gone from the left column, and along with it, the email that belongs in them. Some of the folders were archives by year. I now only have email from 2021 at this point in my inbox, and just those that haven't been transferred to a folder. I hope the folders magically reappear but feeling pretty dire if they don't.....Turns out, I can use the search tool to find some things, but chunks seem to be missing still. I haven't updated anything lately.

I've been using an older version of Thunderbird for years without issue to sign into my POP3 optimum online mail server. I recently "updated" so I could get the "Remove Duplicate Emails" plugin working.

I now have the issue I've seen mentioned here numerous times: I can no longer save my password. I have to manually input it every time I open Thunderbird. If I enter my password and sign in, my mail works fine.

If I check the box to remember my password, it no longer connects to the server. Instead it attempts to connect for a few minutes, then gives me a "mail server timed out" error.

My saved passwords list is completely blank. There is only one profile folder in the Thunderbird profiles directory.

I have tried deleting/renaming the following files in the profile folder: - key3.db (does not reappear after new version, probably legacy) - key4.db - cert9.db - signons.sqlite (has also not reappeared after removing)

I have seen it also advised to delete/rename the following files, but they do not exist in my local profile folder: - pkcs11.txt - logins.json

I am not using CC cleaner or any other programs to scrub passwords.

I had been getting the username and password unrecognized from my gmail account. So I switched from normal password to oauth but now I am getting 300-400 emails every time I log on and they're all emails I received in 2014 and 2015. Thunderbird never downloads the new mail I have waiting in my gmail account (I use pop).

I'd prefer to go back to normal password to stop getting all these repeat emails from years past but np will not work. How do I stop the old emails and start getting the new ones waiting to be downloaded?

I know these have been brought up from other users but individually. I'm not seeing issues when transferring from np to oauth like I'm experiencing. Thanks for any help.
