I've used Thunderbird on my Win 10 desktop as my mail handler program for years and it has never had a problem. This week every email I download from Earthlink appears in the download window for an instant, and then disappears. There are NO error messages.

Are the messages "hiding" somewhere or have they been deleted? What caused this and how do I fix it? For now I changed the POP3 option in Thunderbird to leave the messages on the server, so I can at least read them.

Thunderbird is at the current update level. Did a software update cause this? Anyone else having this problem?

I have multiple email addresses. For some reason one of the yahoo addresses had a hizzy fit and I had to re add it as a new file. Now it appears down the bottom. I would like to move it up the list next to the old one if that is possible ?

Events are currently displayed in the calendar & Today Pane with the corresponding calendar color filling the event banner and the category color only showing as a small sliver on the right side of the banner. Is there a way to reverse this display? I would prefer the event banner to be the category color with the calendar color as a small sliver. Screenshots attached.

Using V78.7.0 (64-bit)...

When accessing the "Manage Tags..." function, the list of tags is empty and the only option available is "New...". That option works but, if you later go back to "Manage Tags...", even a newly added tag is not in the list. The only way to later manipulate tags is to shut down Thunderbird, edit the "prefs.js" file directly, and restart. It is the only way that works but, surely, that's not the way people are supposed to manage/customize tags.

Am I missing something? Is this a known problem?

How can I change settings that users can NOT make the email passwords visible for them?

If this is not possible, can I make the suggestion here, to make an extra possibilty for this?

I have just upgraded from 68.12 to 78.2.2. I used Enigmail but I have migrated to the built-in openPGP. Everything runs as it should.

But it seems that my passphrase has been saved. In the old Enigmail, it used to ask for the passphrase regularly, which I found safer.

So in Thunderbird 78.2.2, is there a way to avoid the saving of the passphrase, or to define how long the passphrase should be saved (e.g. 15 min, session...)? If not, should I then use a master password to protect it? I cannot find the passphrase under saved passwords, so I am not sure where it is stored and therefore if the master password would protect the passphrase.

I was connected to O365 with my work email but cannot send any message. IMAP works just fine, all folders synced regularly, but sending not work for some unknown reason.

SMTP setting is as follow: smtp.office365.com port 587 STARTTLS OAuth (this is correct setting, all others shows errors, including outlook.partner.cn & smtp.office365.cn, which is completely normal since I'm not in China).

The first thing that jump out is that my password is not OK, which is not correct. Password is OK. Click on "Retry" or "Enter new password" do nothing, just return the same pop up. If "Cancel", then receiving message with "unknown error 80004005" and all other blablabla about unknown reasons, with instruction to check my SMTP settings.

I've tried all variations available, but nothing works. Sometimes, at some moment after click on Cancel, it said "Message sent" and I can see it in my Sent Items folder, but it's fake because I never receive that test message to my personal Gmail address.

I have already tried all suggestions I could find (deleting passwords, resetting all, restarting, deleting and adding account again, changes in Config editor related to security.tls), but nothing worked for me.

My OS: Win 10 Pro, build 2004, TB version 78.3.2

Any advise is very welcome. Thank you all in advance.

something's changed in version 78 vs 68 for Windows 10.

Can you help me customize the line spacing (padding?), font, colors, font size in both the folder list and message list panes?

I've been trying several edits to the userChrome.css file and experimented with the layout.css.devPixelsPerPx in about:config.

The mods I use to userChrome.css that work in version 68 don't work in version 78.

I've had some success with the message list but haven't found anything that reduces the space between lines in the folder pane. That's important for me.

in case it helps, here is what I currently have in the userChrome.css file in Thunderbird v78

  • Do not remove the @namespace line -- it's required for correct functioning

Since upgrading to 78.6.1 yesterday, my TASKS list that displays alongside my Calendar is listing all my tasks going back to when they were first created. I have gone through all of them 3 times now, ticking all the boxes to clear them off the Task list but when I restart Thunderbird they are all showing in the Tasks list again. I've tried double-clicking on an entry and then 'Edit All Occurrences', made changes and then saved again, but they all just keep reappearing in the Tasks List as if they haven't been completed??

Just to be clear - I'm not looking to transfer address books, but lists that I use for group mailing purposes.

How do I actually use that colour? How do I get it into the little Thunderbird text colour window? How do I apply it to my text? Am I doing something fundamentally stupid?

I've successfully added most of my gmail accounts into the Thunderbird account manager window.

But one gmail account in particular keeps failing to add.

Whenever I try to add it I get as far as the popup with a gmail login, where I would normally log in and tell google to authorize Thunderbird to access the account.

But when I enter my email address on that popup and click the "Next" button, instead of asking me for my password it just clears the field and keeps showing the log in page, asking for my email or phone number. (See screenshot)

If I type in the email address again and hit next again, the same thing happens. It always just resets instead of moving on to the password input. (But to reiterate, I have successfully added about a half dozen other gmail accounts and haven't encountered this problem with any of the others.)

At first I thought this might have been because it was a new gmail account I had just created, so I figured I'd just try again later. But I created the account at least 3 days ago now, and Thunderbird is still doing the same thing for that login page.

Any suggestions? Or is this a known bug?

My Thunderbird Office365 email quit sending. It happened about 2 weeks after I installed Ubuntu 20.04 on my system. I think it was coincident with an update of the system. My other emails work fine. It tells me the auth failed because "SmtpClientAuthentication is disabled for the Tenant." Thunderbird has a limited number of SMTP authentication methods, and I tried them all. I went to the page the error recommends, and it is for exchange servers. I have microsoft365 from GoDaddy. Any help would be appreciated.

The option to "Leave Messages On Server" is present on my home computer (version 78.7.1 32 bit) but missing on the laptop version (78.7.1 64 bit) I use for travel and multiple Zoom meetings. Is this a program omission or should I try to install the 32 bit version on the laptop? The laptop uses Windows 10.5 and my office computer uses Windows 8. Does that make a difference? Obviously, when I am home I want to download all e-mail, but when I use the laptop I want the messages to remain on the server -- so the present set-up is backwards. egsapp@comcast.net

When I'm writing a message, I cannot change the color of the text. I'm not sure when this started, I've been able to do it in the past. I'm on a new computer (iMac) but I've migrated Thunderbird following instructions, and have no other issues. When I select some text and try to change the color I get a small window, when I click 'choose a color' I get all kind of palets to choose from (I think this is all MacOS). But when I hit OK nothing happens. There is not even an action that I can undo, so literally nothing happens.

Doe anyone have a clue how to fix this? Thanks!

Problems with restoring profile after Windows10 user got corrupted

Because of windows problems I've had to create a new windows user on my W10 machine. Am trying to move the Thunderbird user data stored in the profile folders within Apps data under the new windows user but failing to get this to work.

I've found the nnn.default profile folder under the older user and have tried to copy into the new path as suggested in help texts link text

I now have three profile subfolders in the C:\Users\NEWUSER\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles - see attached pic1

Initially I got a message that profile could not be found so I tried editing profile.ini file replacing reference to wrong tnh…(BOLD) with restored qxeb… naming

I just discovered this evening if I pause my firewall through Eset, files link without a problem.

Can the filelink protocol or module be added as an exclusion in my firewall - if so, what is it?
