I want the unread messages in the list of messages pane to be "orange". I had the following in userChrome.css which worked prior to TB 115:

/* Messagepane text */ treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(new) {

      color: #34ebdc !important;
      font-weight: normal;

} treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(unread) {

      color: #34c6eb !important;
      font-weight: normal !important;

}

When I upgraded to TB 115 this no longer has any effect. How do I do this in TB 115+?

I'm encountering a synchronization issue with my emails in Thunderbird and would greatly appreciate your guidance and advice. My use case is as follows:

I use Thunderbird as my primary email client to manage my Gmail account. I have a large number of messages in my Gmail inbox, and I am trying to archive older ones to free up space in the inbox and keep it manageable.

Here’s the workflow I am following:

   I archive a set of older messages from my Gmail inbox (e.g., messages older than six months).
   Later, I decide I need some of those archived messages back in the inbox. I move those selected messages back to the Inbox using Gmail’s web interface.
   I notice that Thunderbird synchronizes these 'recently moved' messages back to the Inbox, even though they are older messages, seeming to prioritize them in the synchronization process.

My issue is that these 'recently moved' but older messages appear to be treated as recent by Thunderbird, getting synchronized, while other messages that are indeed more recent (by reception date) aren't immediately synchronized.

My questions are:

   Is there a way to make Thunderbird synchronize strictly based on reception date and not on when messages were moved or modified?
   Are there specific settings I should adjust in Thunderbird to achieve this desired synchronization behavior?

I appreciate your help and guidance in advance. I've gone through the documentation and support forums but haven't found a clear answer to this specific issue

Hi there, I just installed (manually with tar.bz) Thunderbird to my Manjaro Linux machine. When I go to add-ons and try to get import-export-tools-ng it says This add-on is not compatible with your version of Thunderbird (View other versions)

When i go see other versions, all versions listed are not compatible. TB Version is 115.2.3 (64-bit)

Folders missing from folder pane in Unified Folders mode

The latest version of thunderbird 115.3.0 (54-bit) has rearranged my folders, and the junkmail folders for all my email addresses no longer exists. This is very alarming, but what is worse is that the trash folder for some email addresses no longer exists, which means as soon as I delete an email it is permenently gone. And some of my email addresses no longer have a 'sent' folder which means that after I have sent an email, there is no record of the email after it is sent. This is very concerning.

There is folder called 'junk' which should have 100s of emails in it, but it say there are only 17, When I select it, there are no emails there. The 'Drafts' folder only has some of my email addresses.

I would post a screenshot, but it would reveal all my email addresses.

The more I am looking into solving this the more I have discovered that thousands of my emails have disappeared. Especially those I have sent. I am devistated. These are my records.

How can I roll back to when thunderbird was reliable, and is there any way of salvaging this catastophe? And how can I trust thunderbird again, which was at one time most reliable?

I have tried the following advice I sought on bing:

To restore the Junk folder, you can go to Tools > Options > Security > Junk and check the box that says “Move new junk messages to”. Then, select “Other” and choose the Junk folder from the list. This will enable the Junk folder again and move any spam messages there. You can also right-click on any message and mark it as junk or not junk to train the filter. FAILED - IT HAS NOT RESTORED THE JUNK FOLDER

To restore the Sent folder, you can go to Tools > Account Settings > Copies & Folders and check the box that says “Place a copy in”. Then, select “Other” and choose the Sent folder from the list. This will enable the Sent folder again and save a copy of any messages you send there. You can also drag and drop any messages from your local folders to the Sent folder if you want to move them. LIMITED SUCCESS - 2 SENT FOLDERS HAVE BEEN RESTORED. Several have not been able to be restored using this method.

Another annoying change: It has put the 'File, Edit, View, Go, Message, etc' Tool bar under the 'Get Messages, Write, Reply etc" Tool bar. They should be the other way round.

I really hope all this can be solved.

I have tried to install a previous version (which was perfect) but your system insists on giving me the latest version - a typical Google trick!

Not a situation I can live with. After 20 years I need another provider!

I have just recently moved and lost access to all my @shaw.ca accounts. I've created 2 new gmail.com accounts.

I've got both gmail accounts functioning in Thunderbird properly.

Here's my 2 issues... 1-I used to be able to hit "get messages" and have all 7 of my accounts checked with 1 click. Now I have to click the arrow beside "get messages" and select "get all". Is there some way to default the stupid button to just check everything?

2-I have a "local folders" folder, followed by a LOT of sub folders. Instead of using the "inbox" in local folders, both of my gmail accounts have their own folders and I can't seem to find a way to make them use the local folders collection. When I set up the accounts in Thunderbird I selected the choice to store emails on my PC and not to sync with gmail.

I'd love some help. Thanks for your time.

Looking in "C:\Users\Test\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\98v8wen0.default\Mail\pop3.orcon.net.nz there's Inbox folder with size 1661360 KB In the same folder there is also inbox.msf of 186 kb . Both have today's date. Although I don't see any other inbox has TB changed to a new mail folder ? Anyone have any ideas please? Thanks

Strange threading behavior has crept in to new releases. Sometimes when msg within a thread is deleted, instead of it 'disappearing', it is replaced by an empty message dated 1Jan70. When reply to a threaded message, (Unified InBox) my response appears twice (identical content). Worse: deleting 'one' results in both disappearing. (Undo brings them both back. Sigh!) Work-around is to re-start TB, and affected threads become corrected. Something I have/not done during upgrade?

Just upgraded to Thunderbird 115(from the last Non beta version).

I have multiple email accounts.

When I click to the inbox off one of my gmail accounts it does not display to the last message received. Thunderbird opens to a message about 1/4 up into my inbox.

I have a second gmail account and this behavior does not occur.

I'm sure its a easy fix, I just can't figure it out .

It seems with recent updates, things no longer work as it used to. I am currently using 115.3.0, build ID 20230926115257 on Debian Linux.

It used to be that if you selected the view as "Unread", it would stick with that folder, now it just does it until you leave the folder.

I normally view messages as text since html can be a security issue. There is a button marked "Show HTML", which no longer works. Now I have to select "View", "Message Body as" and then manually select things back and forth.

I used to be able to have a button for the Filter Function to have filter folder or filter message, not it is only a selection for Filter Functions and then I can select what I want to do. This is going backwards.

Under "Unread Folders", often the count is incorrect and it claims that there is a message which is unread, which is false. If I select "Compact View", and then unselect it, the count gets corrected.

There are also other issues which were caused by updates. There is clearly an issue with regards with a lack of testing to ensure things are not getting broken.

I'd also like to be able to reply to individual messages within the digest, but I'd settle for just being able to read them for now.

The message header includes:

MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/digest; boundary=ggofglidgcdlokjmbapm
