HERE IS THE ANSWER Here is the answer to get TABS BELOW with Firefox V90 . . copy all of this code below the broken line into your - userChrome.css - file and save it. You can modify the 45px in this line if you wish to get an appropriate height . . just experiment with different numbers till you get it right --menubar-height: 45px; /*30px|41px=11px; caption buttons on menubar*/

Also to make the tabs wider or narrower, modify the line which is coded width: 50vw !important;

Finally you must enable - css - in Firefox, by typing about:config into your address bar, and search for toolkit. When all the toolkit options appear change the one which says toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets to TRUE by click the icon in the right hand column. Than close Firefox and reopen, and check how it looks This will enable your - css - file to be read, and interpreted and accepted by the Firefox browser.

Firefox was hanging up. I got frustrated and I ended the session using task manager. On restart my windows came back, but the tabs were missing the page information. I ended the firefox session again, and did a restart of windows for good measure, hoping to get everything restored.

Then, when windows restarted, I restarted firefox, and I was presented two options - SAFE MODE, or REFRESH. I did SAFE MODE. Things looked ok, so I ended that session, and tried restarting again, hoping to restart normally, without SAFE MODE on. I got the same two options again - SAFE MODE or REFRESH. So, I thought REFRESH would get me back to my prior session. Nope. That reloaded a bunch of things, like bookmarks, etc. and gave me a new session.

So, I looked under the three line menu. No ability to RESTORE PREVIOUS SESSION!

I also looked in my profile as found in ABOUT:SUPPORT - PROFILE FOLDER, and in my SESSIONSTORE-BACKUPS folder in my profile folder my RECOVERY.baklz4, and my RECOVERY.jsonlz4 have todays date as DATE MODIFIED, but only are 33kb each - way to small for the hundreds of tabs I had open in multiple windows - I believe.

So, do I have any other recovery session folders available that I might be able to use?

In the new version of the Developer Edition the options "close tabs to the right" and "close other tabs" are in a sub-menu named "Close Multiple Tabs" inside the context menu. Is there's a way to change this so that they will appear directly in the main context menu? I use "close tabs to the right" often and I find this very annoying.

Before shutting down Firefox I deleted history/cache/passwords etc from the past day

I do this all the time but since I had restore previous tabs selected they always get restored when I start up again

However this time they weren't restored when I restarted

Without closing Firefox I navigated to the sessionstore-backups folder to see what was there but the files were only 2KB - much too small for the number of tabs.

So I installed ShadowExplorer & Shadowcopyview to see if I could recover older versions I was able to locate jsonlz4 files from a few days ago that were around 11000KB in size so I assumed they would have most of my tabs

However when trying to use the files nothing happens - I tried 2 different steps that I read here had worked for others

1 - Renaming previous.jsonlz4 to sessionstore.jsonlz4 , moving to the profile folder (deleting the old one first) and restarting FF

2 - Deleting sessionstore.jsonlz4 and copying the recovered previous.jsonlz4 / recovery.baklz4 /recovery.jsonlz4 / upgrade.jsonlz4-20201014125134 files to the sessionstore-backups folder and restarting FF

I also repeated the steps after creating a separate profile

None of these worked so I tried examining the jsonlz4 files using https://www.jeffersonscher.com/res/scrounger.html but I got an error message 'Session history file contents could not be read?'

Now I've previously used recovered Jsonlz4 files to restore tabs with no issues but this time they won't work

I read here https://support.mozilla.org/bm/questions/1189759 that updates may cause compatibility issues and the upgrade.jsonlz4-20201014125134 file indicates they was a recent update

The recovered file sizes indicate they contain data so I want to know how I can recover it - if not through FF then through some other software

My Tabs toolbar used to be under my Links toolbar. It is now above the Address toolbar.

How do I put my Tabs toolbar back where I want it (not where Firefox arbitrarily decided to put it)?

Alternately, How do I go back to FireFox 70.0.1?

System: Windows 8.1, 64-bit

              FireFox 71, 64-bit

Note: My laptop (Windows 8.1, 64-bit) has Firefox 70.0.1 (but wants me to "update" (sic)). It has the tool bars in my preferred order. I'm not about to "update" until I know how to fix FireFox 71.

Hi

Running Firefox 71.0 (64 bit)

Well seems Firefox has been messing this up again.

Anyone have the new work around solution to get my tabs back on the bottom again. They were fine this morning then shut down and went out to lunch and when I came back they were back on the top again after months of being where I wanted them below my bookmark bar.

Thoughts on this?

Thanks Dave

In most standard Windows applications, the title bar and tab colour follows the default Windows settings, e.g. (in my case) the title bar and tab colour of active application windows is blue. This is true even in Thunderbird. Since FF 89, title bar and tabs are something between white and light gray, which is extremely user-un-friendly. FF developer team should return to the previous colour scheme. Yes, I know the circumstances of free software but this is NO excuse to alienate millions of users. Developers that change fully functionable software just, well, just to CHANGE it should consider that they are doing WRONG. Could anyone tell them? I am just user, not developer and I am not willing to learn developer tools like BugZilla just for this simple guiding principle.

I lost over 700 tabs yesterday when FF Crashed. When it was re-opened, I only had one Tab and none of my pinned tabs were there and all the other tabs were gone. All Tabs Helper had all but about 30-40 tabs suspended and I had opened and closed FF many times in the past and it had always reopened the complete list of Tabs with all but the pinned tabs suspended. I really don't want to go into history and tell it to open all the tabs from the last month, this is definitely asking for trouble. I am posting this from EDGE so as not to screw up any chances of a full recovery if possible. Thanks, Ed

Today I updated my Firefox Developer Edition to version 89.0b2 and now I just can not look at this browser anymore, "Inspired new tab design" is taking too much space and now became largest and at the same time least information-dense panel in my entire desktop! I searched around the web for a bit in hopes that I will find a theme or an add-on that will revert this particular change but no luck. I really want to revert to old UI look (at least tabs bar), there should be default theme or option to get back to old style. After some investigation I found userChrome.css but don't really want to install it (maybe this is actually the way of doing this kind of styling). Please help me revert UI design to old one.

I had multiple Firefox windows open in which I had organized different categories of things I was working on. The first window in the group was my primary window, in which I had all of my active projects, which the tabs help me remember to do.

Last night there was apparently a power outage, and when I opened my laptop the windows were out of order, with the primary window at the end of the group. Naturally I kept navigating to the wrong window because of this, so I attempted to close the windows one by one, intending to reopen them in the correct order.

I accidentally closed the last window, however, thus closing Firefox entirely. When I reopened it, the Windows and Tabs history were completely erased (see attachment). Is that supposed to happen? Is there no way to maintain a backup of this history that can be restored, like a snapshot that is generated once a week or so? Moreover, is there no way to recover my closed windows?

I have just done a Windows System Restore, but it had no impact at all on my Firefox windows or history. Is there anything else that I can attempt?

Last time Firefox updated, I managed to find information online about moving the website tabs so they were below the bookmarks instead of at the top of the screen. It was a huge pain-in-the-butt to do.

After a recent re-install, the tabs have moved themselves back to the top of the screen and nothing I do seems to be able to move them back below the bookmarks.

Is there a way I can move the tabs that doesn't involve spending hours hunting through posts on the web, changing hidden Firefox settings, and recoding .css files?

If not, why do you not give the option to move the tabs wherever the user wants? Especially when it makes far more sense to have the website tabs directly above the website being viewed, at least in my opinion?

I'm currently using Firefox 85.0.2 (64-bit).

I have several hundred tabs, tick them all and want to bookmark them, but that never works. Never! I uninstalled Firefox, reinstalled it. It still does not work. I've turned off all add-ons, it's still not working. The error has been present for 2 or 3 years! I also used a whole lot of tabs managers but not even one solved the problem, managers don't even see these tabs! In my case, Firefox is stable, pages open, so what makes it impossible to add or save tabs? I don't want to lose my open tabs. I searched all the help pages, tricks and it still doesn't work, nothing, nothing at all, not even reinstating a computer or anything else won't fix the problem. I will also add that the "Settings" menu does not open! This is unique (super-bug)!

Hi I attached this to an already solved question and I'm afraid I won't get a response. After update to 72.0.1 Tabs merged with Bookmarks Toolbar. The solved solution of new text for the userChrome.css file doesn't work. The userChrome.css text jdevlin supplied does not work on my Firefox. I had to create a new chrome folder as this update seems to have deleted it. I pasted the text into the userChrome.css but there was no change. What am I doing wrong?

Really need help on this, Firefox is practically unusable like this.

Thanks!
