I have a Dell Lattitude E5570 running Windows 64 Professional. I use Firefox to connect to the web. Recently I had fibre broadband fitted to the house by BT and with it a BT Smart Hub 2.

On initial setup everything was fine, my QNAP NAS was picked up and I could access it and I could access the BT Hub. However, after only a couple of days I can no longer access the BT Hub using the IP address or my NAS. Firefox simply says 'Unable to connect to server' whenever I put in the IP address. For the NAS I get a message saying 'cannot connect to device, check that the device and your computer are on the same subnet'.

My iPhone however, which is also connected to the internet via my BT hub can access both my NAS and BT Smart Hub 2 .

Strange thing is Firefox would never connect to my Asus router before either. I've even tried connecting my computer directly to both the BT router and the NAS with an ethernet cable but still no joy.

I have checked my windows firewall and Firefox is on there as an allowed app. I have no trouble connecting to any other website via Firefox just my BT router and my NAS. I have removed Firefox and re-installed it as advised but still no joy.

When accessing the NAS via my iPhone on the BT app it says the NAS is connected to my wi-fi as are my Hive, Sonos, Amazon Firestick and laptop.

I have no idea what the 'subnet' message means not knowing what that is or where to look to see if this is the issue. Oh, and I have tried accessing the BT Hub and the NAS using Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer but to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Paul.

Previously I used: browser.urlbar.maxRichResults, but that doesn't seem to do anything after this recent update. I have to visit a lot of different sites for my job and a longer list in the address bar drop down makes that happen very quickly. Being limited to only 7 is going to severely cut down on my efficiency.

If someone wants to reset their browser they can search how to do it. Why on earth would you suggest a reset/destruction of a full working browser under the name of "refresh" ?????

One is abstracted, clicks ok, and destroys their well set up browser for no reason at all !!!

You should rename the damn "refresh" or better completely trash it!

Suddenly, all my passwords got deleted from Firefox last week, and when I went to check, I found that a new version of Firefox had just been installed on my windows 10 desktop. I got the passwords back, but not only do most of them still not work, but even when I sign in manually, they don't work, so I have to reset them for each site (and usually I can reset it to exactly the same password I have been using all along, which is strange by itself). The next time I go to that site, again my password doesn't work, so I open up Chrome and get in with no problem. Thus, it is not just the saving of my passwords that isn't working in Firefox, it is that these sites are not recognizing my correct passwords when I type them in manually on Firefox. Has this happened to anyone else had this problem, and is there a solution? I have used Firefox for years and love it, but I can't continue to use it if it takes me forever to get into all these websites. Thanks.

After years of using Firefox for browsing, Yahoo has suddenly overwritten my Firefox blocking access and I cannot find a way of removing it on the Windows 10 software; as it doesn't show up as a separate app. Do I delete all Mozilla-Firefox programmes and reinstall Firefox?

Hi. I have just been updated to version 78.0.1 (64-bit) I have a large number of .lnk files that drive my work. As of this update, Firefox no longer opens these files, instead it forces me to download the link file, and then click on the downloaded link file to instatiate it. Of course, this means that I cannot open the link file in Private mode. This is cluttering up my download folder, forcing the web page referenced into non-private mode, and causing cascading problems from there. What is the setting that will allow me to click on my bookmarked .lnk files (which in most cases open .html web pages) and open directly. If I can't do this then I'll have to migrate away from Firefox, which I absolutely do not want to do.

Thank you. Cyril

I'm finding that I'm winding up with multiple instances of firefox running. I don't mean multiple windows but multiple sessions of firefox itself where each one has however many windows/tabs that I may have open managed under each instance. As an example, right now on one of my machines, I see two different two different instances when I attempt to Send Tab To Device (see Groot in attachment). This has lead to me losing session data as it seems that only one instance is managed by the restore feature. I don't consider that only one instance being restored a bug but maybe devs think different; I'm not questioning the session restore feature operation here. What I'm asking here is how to merge multiple instances down to one so that sessions restore will recover all my windows/tabs. How do I figure out which windows/tabs are with which instance? How do I know which instance will be restored?

Possible Feature Request: I don't know if multiple instances being started is self inflicted or a by product of some firefox operation encountered during use; I've not deliberately started separate instances. What would be cool is a feature that only allows one instance to be running at a time. This feature could warn if there is already a managed instance running if another attempts to start and help to prevent future possible lose of session data.

I have Macualar Degeneration so I use the Windows magnifier all the time. They have added a "Read from here" feature where you click where you want it to start reading and it should read the text. When I click the voice says, "Disabled." I have checked in Options the setting for "Prevent accessibility services from accessing your browser" and it was unchecked. I tried checking that and it made no difference. I opened a text document and the feature worked fine. In Microsoft apps, it works fine. In an OpenOffice text document it says "Cannot read from here" - it must not be compatible with OpenOffice. The fact that it says "Disabled" in Firefox makes me think that there's a setting that can be changed to enable it. I have iCloud Bookmarks, Instagram Photo Plus, Video Download Helper, extensions active and AdBlock Plus and Facebook Container disabled. What can I do to enable Read From Here in Firefox?
