Firefox for OSX has been having a problem with opening in a new tab for some time (since version 98 or something). First, you can have, for example, 5-6 tabs open, then suddenly opening 7th it hangs and does not open the address. Refreshing it, the address disappears and the tab is still empty, there is also no previously visible http address. Closing this tab causes every next one to freeze. Closing another (one of previously open) doesn't change the situation, but closing two sometimes let opens another, but only one. After several attempts, we have to close another one, and so after several attempts, we have 1 open active and no possibility to open a new tab and the address contained in it. It doesn't matter if it's from favorites, google search or manually typed. The only thing that helps is to force the browser to install the old version ( 96 ) then everything returns to normal. Allowing an update to 101 or later will prevent you from using Firefox after a few minutes. Current version 111 and same problem.

I am using Firefox 110.0.1 on my Mac running High Sierra 10.13.6. I did an Onyx clean up and an now when I go to use the search bar on the toolbar none of my search choices will display. Once I key in whatever I am searching for the search choices will sort flicker quickly on and off, but not display long enough for me to select one. Only when I hold down the Command Key will the choices appear for me to select one.

Also, if I type an long entry into search bar and then go to edit or modify the entry, I cannot scroll forward to the end or beginning of the entry. Using the < or > will take the cursor only to the beginning or end of the visible text and no to the true beginning or end of what is in the box

Firefox does updates constantly. You can have an update happen within a few days of each other. At least that's what appears to me. I don't update apps unless I really need to. But this constant reminder to update is so annoying! So I'm forced to update, even though I'm not experiencing any issues with Firefox.

That being said, yesterday, I finally decided to update Firefox. Says there is a 109.x.x update. Fine. I updated. This morning, I get another update reminder. This time it's for 110.0.1. Turns out, this "latest" update was release Feb 28. So my question is, if I updated Firefox on March 7, why did it NOT update to the "latest" version of 110.0.1? Instead it, just updated to the second latest.

It seems that Firefox browser, and Firefox devs aren't very savvy, in getting the browser to update to the "latest" version. Like most apps would. With Firefox, it appears you have to update the version right after the current version your using. Which in my case, is still an older version of the browser. So after it updated to a newer older version. Then it was able to update to next update after that. Which I'm guessing is 110.0.1. With other apps, you don't have to download ALL the updates one at a time, to get to the latest version. You just update to the latest version, and ALL previous and current updates happen at once. That's smarter and more efficient.

This seems to track of how not very intelligent Firefox is. At the very least, make the option to NOT GET REMINDERS TO UPDATE. Give users the option to update when they want to, without getting annoying notifications. AND/OR when users finally do decide to update, that they would UPDATE TO THE LATEST version. And not have to do multiple updates just to get to the latest update.

So, it's been 2 days now that upon starting up Firefox on my MBP, I encounter the same problem. First, I'm prompted to put in my primary password. When I'm putting it in, the small window where I'm writing it reloads, and I have to start again with the password. The site is then non responsive. I have currently multiple opened tabs, and it's impossible to navigate, to open a new tab, a new window, to interact in any way. When I go to the top left under meny -Firefox - About Firefox - Submit Feedback or Firefox Help, a new tab does open, but I still cannot interact with it. I have to quit and reopen multiple times (third today) for it to work properly. Please help! Many thanks

After updating the browser to version 110, all my bookmarks from the bookmarks panel disappeared, but the full folder structure remained. There are only bookmarks in the bookmark menu; but I practically did not use the menu, everything was fresh and most necessary on my panel. Restoring from a backup does not help: first, the bookmarks disappear along with the folders, then the folders are restored without the bookmarks (it seems to me that in the middle of the process, the bookmarks appear briefly, but then disappear again). The “recovery” procedure takes about 40 minutes, during which time Firefox does not respond, the processor (all 4 cores) is almost completely occupied by it, and the entire system slows down terribly (an attempt to type in a text editor leads to the appearance of letters in the document with a whistle of 5 ... 10 seconds after how the corresponding keys on the keyboard were pressed). The problem is exactly the same on both work and home computers. In normal programs, a rollback to the previous version, where everything was fine, would help, but you are warned that a new empty profile will be created, and thus it is completely incomprehensible how all my bookmarks can be restored. The advice at the end of the article to switch to another browser does not cause any enthusiasm either, this one suited me best, while it worked fine (until yesterday). Please help me recover my bookmarks ^_^

Hi,

Some time ago Gmail started to not work properly in Firefox. All the icons are broken and non responsive. The chat is unable to connect. See attached picture.

Gmail works perfectly in both Chorme and Safari so this must be a Firefox issue. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall Firefox with no success. I have also tried to start Firefox in safe mode and disabled all add ons and extensions. Even starting Gmail in htlm-mode is showing broken icons.

I lost a session with several open windows, and very valuable tabs. No idea why, Session Restore has been working well for months, and I restart frequently. Under History, Recently Closed Widows' is greyed, when 'Restore Last Session' is shown, (Forget how I got that, it's disappeared again) it's greyed too. Open Previous Windows was/is enabled under Startup in Preferences. Mac Mini, late 2012, up to date Firefox, 109.0.1, macOS 10.13.6 Safari window did Not disappear, it restored properly. Which it has been doing regularly, same as Firefox. I only struggle with Safari because streaming TV on the net (spectrum) works better for me on Safari, as do Imgur front page memes.

For the last week or two I have had an issue with Firefox closing my email (yahoo business mail) tab automatically, every time I download a file from an email.

After opening emial I click to download the file, i have the settings set to ask where I want it saved, and then either while I'm selecting the destination and labeling it, or right after the tab automatically closes. It happens both ways which suggests to me it's occurring after a specified amount of time, not based on completion of an action. And it's happening every time.

Dear Firefox,

Yesterday 1-2-23 I lost my tabs. When I tried to restore them I followed the suggestions listed in "help". I clicked on the "menu" on the top right of my browser, found the "history" and selected it. The "restore" option did not appear. On my macbook pro 2012 os 10.13.6 I had 3 "desktop" selections. I had a browser window on each of the desktops that held multiple tabs. The third "desktop" was the "dashboard" which mostly had widgets. Somehow the browser window from one of the Desktops was applied to the dashboard and when I tried to remove it the result was that it closed and was removed from all desktops.

How can I find the sessions or tabs that were present on Jan 1 or before? I'm not that tech savy and would love to be able to speak with a real person that would be able to walk me through a solution if there is a solution.

I keep a lot of tabs open, and it's not that unusual to lose my session altogether and have to restore it. This time, though, it's not letting me.

A "Restore Session" tab came up that said the following:

"Sorry. We’re having trouble getting your pages back.

We are having trouble restoring your last browsing session. Select Restore Session to try again.

Still not able to restore your session? Sometimes a tab is causing the issue. View previous tabs, remove the checkmark from the tabs you don’t need to recover, and then restore."

I usually attempt to restore from the "History" dropdown menu at the top of the screen, and it usually works on the first try. But even when it doesn't, this screen appears and gives me the option of clicking on the bright blue "Restore Session" button, and that typically does it. This time, though, the blue "Restore Session" button is much more muted in color and not responsive to clicks.

Do you have any ideas? Like I say, I keep a LOT of tabs open, and most of them serve as reminders to take care of something or other, so I really need to reopen all tabs from that previous session so I don't lose those reminders. Thanks!
