Hello, I have recently moved to a new OS, windows 10 pro x64. I have installed firefox 98.0.1 (64-bit) and am experiencing an issue I never had with old versions, it has always been true of chrome but never firefox builds in my experience. If I have a tab open with a video, whether its a livestream or just a youtube video for example, if that tab loses focus within seconds the video will freeze but the audio will continue. Then when I return to that tab/window the video will be set to the lowest possible quality ( despite having a gigabit service) and it takes a while for the video to refresh and then a little while longer for the audio to sync back up. The video has always stopped playing if I use the windows "show desktop" shortcut on the bottom right of the screen, but in every previous version of firefox I have used, swapping tabs and/or windows never had this issue before.

It is a clean install, I do not have any extensions and am not connected to a vpn. I have tried

- turning hardware acceleration off
- disabling webgl
- changing the throttle option in about:config
- checked the network settings within firefox just to double check the proxy settings.

Few things I to note All of my drivers are up to date, there are no readily apparent reasons on my end for this. My system is pretty decent I think, ryzen 7 1700x, 32gb ram, 1 tb m.2, 1080ti Also turns out the video will start to load if I hover over the window in taskbar so that the preview pops up, however in that case I still need to open the window back up because it treats it like I have just opened that website and I have to click in the video to start playback

Other than digging through firefox old versions and testing them 1 at a time to find the one I use to have I am not sure what I should try next. Thank you

I am on Arch Linux using i3. I have been using Firefox for a while but recently switched from Nautilus to pcmanfm as my file manager. Now Firefox is unable to save any file or do anything else that requires opening the file manager. Running it through the terminal I get:

"Can't open portal file chooser: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.freedesktop.portal.Desktop was not provided by any .service files"

I have xdg-desktop-portal installed and have tried xdg-desktop-portal-{gnome, gtk, and kde}. I have also tried setting widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal to both true and false, neither of which changed anything. Reinstalling Nautilus also doesn't fix it. Does anybody know what could be causing this?

Hi,

I am on a Mac Pro running High Sierra. Everytime I launch Firefox I get a error message that "this file may harm your computer" which is a .dmg in my downloads toolbar. I think I clicked on a bad link. I have cleared my cache and history and it still always pops up. I do not want this file nor do I want it to give me this warning everytime I launch Firefox.

Any advice is helpful.

Thanks

Hi,

I used Tab Mix Plus in the past and it had the protect tab option. I have several tabs that I want to keep always open and never change, just reload the content keeping the same url, all the links should be opened in a new tab/window. Pinned tabs only keep the tab pinned but do not enforce this. Is there a way to do this natively?

Thanks

Okay, hi- first time here. I have, as far as I know, all my preferences set correctly- clear history and cookies upon shutdown, etc yet EVERY time I reopen Firefox it's attempting to resume my last session which seems to me to be the opposite of how I have it configured so I was wondering what I also need to do to eliminate this privacy concern. Thanks in advance~

Hi, i'm using Firefox Sync and therefore FF asks for primary password on every startup. The delay until it asks for the password is annoying. e.g. already typing into my favorite search engine when i look up and see the seach term is typed into the password field because of the delayed, random popup.

I know there's a workaroud to pin Firefox Account site to speed things up, but this is a bad workaround. Why isn't it possible to change FF to ask for the password immediately when Sync is enabled. Can't be this hard.

P.S. Why isn't Chrome asking ever for a password, even if Sync and PW are stored?

Greetings. I've got a problem which is ocсuring in firefox. I'm starting js script on the web page which creating some canvas elements and saving them as PNG files (do no add them into DOM). All created objects are changing their values to null after save to make them unreachable for GC. During this process Firefox is taking all available memory (it is not much, only 4 GB installed and around 3 Gb free) and then crashing with "out of memory" exception. I opened about:memory and clicked on the "Minimize memory usage" button. It took effect. GC freed unused memory and the script continuing working for some time. Then I had to minimize again. And again... till the end of script running.

But if I switch to another tab after starting the script (the tab with running script became inactive), memory consumption is not growing and limited about 100 MB. That is exactly what I need.

So, looks like GC is not working on active tab or working but not absolutely correctly. But it is working properly on inactive tab. I hope there are some preferences in firefox (about:config ? ) which can help me to solve this problem.

P.S. I've tried the same in chrome. It works fine. So, I believe then script is more or less correct. P.P.S. Sorry for my English. It is not my native language.

I deleted most of the info on my Firefox profile, but I left logins.json. Now when I go into about:logins There are no logins, however on that file the websites, username and creation date are still there. I think I might have deleted the passwords. Is there any way I could recover them? I checked all the other profiles: all have no logins.
