I am trying to restore an old collection of bookmarks that I had accumulated. I ran a manual backup of data which included my Firefox folder. I've put off restoring the data, but now I have two separate sets of bookmarks--both important to me. I am a technically inclined person.

If I use the last of the old automated bookmark backup folders in my Firefox profile, will it delete all of my current bookmarks? If so, what is the best method of combining these two sets of bookmarks?

Merry Christmas,

When I try to sign in to Google services in Mozilla Firefox, I get redirected to University of Michigan's weblogin site/application. Even when I type gmail.com directly into the URL bar and press entire, I am redirected. The site I get redirected to is as follows, although I do not recommend following the link unless you know what you are doing:

https://weblogin.umich.edu/?cosign-shibboleth.umich.edu&https://shibboleth.umich.edu/idp/Authn/RemoteUser?conversation=e2s1

I have already tried going into Mozilla Firefox preferences and selecting Manage Data under the option to clear the cache and data. How do I remove the UMich's weblogin redirect?

I could export my bookmarks and import in the new profile, but neither logins nor history.

How can I do that?

Thank you in advance!

Because FireFox has been running so slowly, a few minutes ago I chose to Refresh FireFox. The web page said bookmarks and other things would be preserved, but after the refresh FireFox has no bookmarks. I have tried the Restore option under Import and Backups on the Library panel and chose the most recent listing (dated today), but FireFox says "Unable to process the backup file". It also can't process any other, earlier, entry listed.

Is there anything I can do to try to get my bookmarks back, or has FireFox totally hosed me?

Thanks,

Hello, I use Microsoft Teams daily and I recently switched to firefox. Everything is great so far except that when I try to login to teams I'm stuck in an endless loop and never succeed to login. I searched and found that it is a cookies issue and I should allow the following cookies:

   [*.]microsoft.com
   [*.]microsoftonline.com
   [*.]teams.skype.com
   [*.]teams.microsoft.com
   [*.]sfbassets.com
   [*.]skypeforbusiness.com

However, this format does not work with firefox and I tried placing a normal URL of each like : https://microsoft.com but it didn't work. So what is the format equivalent in firefox to these to whitelist these cookies

Ever since evolving past the 70's version, "Print to PDF" from Firefox has had sporadic problems. I have now three times "upgraded" to various 80's series releases and though sometimes Print to PDF works, it more often fails. Once again i have "downgraded" to a 70's release, and i do not experience flaws.

I have posted at least twice of the issue, yet no one is able, or has done anything, about it. Fine. But to keep getting that annoying "New version available" notification is as irritating as malware, especially since "upgrading" will cause the system to malfunction, and the choice to spend time by your programmers to eliminate a safe internal method to disable this is very confusing; why was the decision made to eliminate the option to turn that annoyance off, creating an annoyance when the only time one would turn upgrades off would be when there was a malfunction with a release?

I did find the external registry fix, which, compared to pre early 60's releases having the setting, was a waste of my time to find, but more importantly, added an outside element of a breach of security. I do not understand the reasoning in the development team's thought process.

Via "about:config" the "signon.management.page.fileImport.enabled" option is enabled. I tested it on a fresh install on another machine just now, and it does add the "..." button - however, the option to import and export from file are completely absent - only the options to import from other browsers are available.

SEE SCREENSHOT

The option you can see in the screenshot, that was available until this week apparently, is no longer available after turning it on. I rely on this feature at my Job, when we image machines with logins for our users.

I need this basic functionality of all web-browsers or we'll have to switch to another one. We do not allow the users to Sync their accounts with FireFox/Lockwise, as we do not want the passwords being taken to other locations/pc's where they have signed to Firefox.

Please help - Thank you.

Hello,

We are using Firefox 78 ESR configured by Group Policies. Nearly everything works as wanted but one thing:

When we start Firefox an update Message with the green update now arrow appears in the menu and as popup. It leads to the actual non-ESR Version of Firefox that is not wanted. When looking at the about Firefox page it shows that the used Version of Firefox is the current (ESR) one and doesn't need the update. I can't find the setting that stops Firefox ESR from checking the normal update Channel for the Update notifications.

every help or hint is appreciated,

with best regards, Martin

Only one Browser has problems with HD videos (1080p + above) on youtube: Firefox in the most current version.

I have tested so far only the one current latest version of the ESR branch (78.3.x). But as visible from thousands of articles to this very particular problem (when i search the community help database for "Youtube videos stutter" i get multiple thousands of entries - i read only a handful of them to realize that they are all "closed" and not a single one "solved"), this problem persists since multiple years now.

I have a very old PC by my side with a very old Firefox (benchmark wise slower than my current PC by a factor of at least 3) ESR 52.9, which is able to play the same videos in the same HD resolution without the slightest stutter.

The drivers on that old system are - naturally - outdated by half a decade. THAT OLD OUTDATED system with THAT OLD OUTDATED Firefox is well able to play even multiple HD videos side by side. With-OUT any stutter.

Thus, you can easily deduce by logical reasoning that nighter any outdating of drivers whatsoever nor any outdating of anything else on the system, be it hardware wise or software wise, CAN AT ALL be the culprit of that stuttering.

While the former holds true, what you actually find in the communities help are completely useless and irrational tips of "upgrading the browser to the last version", "upgrading drivers" or "reinstalling any software" or the like.

Let me be clear: Nothing of the latter will ever help in overcoming the stuttering of current firefoxes at all. The only one measure that will help here is to revise the code that is underlying the video pipe.

Since the stuttering regularly only begins after about one to two minutes into the videos, it is strongly suggestive that something in the memory management - probably in the way resources becoming freed after use - is accumulating over time until the stuttering begins. Badly managed garbage collection, perhaps?
