My Firefox browser on Android is very slow. YouTube videos buffer and lag. Pages take a long time to load. Sometimes Firefox freezes or crashes. Please help me fix performance and video playback issues. My phone has limited RAM and storage

I've been using Firefox for a while, and while there are many things I like about it, it has always been a resource hog. In the past I could get around this by just killing Firefox in Windows Resource Manager and restarting, but ever since getting a new computer an upgrading to Windows 11, it's gotten worse. Every couple of days my computer freezes for 10 or more minutes, I'm having to do a hard reboot ever few days, and I'm even bluescreening about twice a month. I'm pretty sure Firefox is the culprit because killing it will usually resolve the issue.

I'm wondering if there is some way to put Firefox in a sandbox so it does not consume nearly all available memory and other computer resources. It is by far the biggest consumer of resources on my system and I do not want to dedicate 4GB+ of memory to an app that is just showing a couple of web pages and playing YouTube videos.

before v151.0.2, didn't have a problem with firefox, now with this new release, it is really really slow, takes some time to start and load pages. what happened??

Firefox has recently started crashing multiple times per day. The crashes do not seem to be website specific.

For the past few weeks Firefox has been crashing and freezing often. Crashes are worst when trying to access Protonmail, which almost always crashes the tab instantly. Freezes happen most often when browsing Reddit, and also when watching Youtube, but crashes and freezes can happen on almost any website.

I have tried changing profiles, refreshing and uninstalling/reinstalling, but the problem persists and seems to be getting worse over time.

We have an asp.net Blazor SPA (server side Blazor) that dynamically generates components within the page. Over time, there is a very large RAM leak under document-shared that climbs until the windows are closed.

We have tried various firefox configurations to try and either disable this shared storage as well as limit but with no luck. THe memory allocation is in GB of RAM space and cannot be limited or reduced until the window itself is closed/restarted.

Research online indicates this can happen due to colocated stylesheets and how firefox wants to cache styles aggressively. Adjustments to move stylesheets does not appear to help.

What configurations can I use to help prevent/reduce this high RAM usage? This does not occur in Chrome or Edge, I cannot replicate this well under FireFox for Windows.

Today Firefox crashed twice and a Tab crashed once! What's going on with Firefox? It's especially disurbing to have it crash during a long video and then you have to find where you left off.

Despite being listed as supported on: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/MediaDevices/enumerateDevices

enumerateDevices() still only returns input devices. Running navigator.mediaDevices.enumerateDevices().then(devices => console.log(devices)); in the Firefox console only shows input devices while on Chrome it shows output devices.

I use a website that supports playing from multiple output devices so when receiving a phone call, your desktop speakers and your headset can ring at the same time. This works in Chrome but it doesn't in Firefox.

Hello. My tablet, has limited memory, due to its age. I am now finding that one of the main reasons why it is so slow is because whenever I open firefox, it opens multiple firefox processes which drain the memory and in some cases crashes the system. I have followed all the advice given to reduce these multiple processes, however nothing seems to work and at least 6-8 firefox processes open each time I open it. I have unchecked the recommended performance settings as well as hardware acceleration boxes. However, I cannot find where to set the content process limit to 1. Please tell me how to do this and if there anything else I can try to stop it opening multiple processes or I may be forced to ditch Firefox altogether for an alternate such as Bing, Chrome or DuckDuckGo. I believe this problem began in 133. I've noticed that if FF is open for a few hours, it starts to develop a very noticeable input lag. For example, if I'm watching a YouTube video and hit an arrow key to advance the video, there will be a couple of seconds before the browser registers the key press. It behaves like a high CPU issue but I do not detect high CPU usage when this is happening. Restarting the browser resolves the issue for a few hours.

This is happening on Windows 11 as well as on a Mac running Sonoma.

I have read a number of reports of tab crashing, which I have continually. Running 133.0.3 (64-bit) on Win 11 Home 23H2. Very inconsistent crashes, sometime will open new tabs other times it will crash. I have reinstalled no change. I ran refresh, no change and now when I open Firefox I get a message to restore windows. I can't seem to get that message to go away. Any suggestions, especially about the opening message? I have used FF for years and am almost at the point of switching to Chrome. As an aside, also have problems on some websites processing information/orders when using Firefox. No problem when I switch to Chrome. Thanks in advance......

the crash report ID is dd1e4f07-c2e0-4372-be7f-e82820250128 this is odd, Laptop was running linux mint, i beleive 20. mate. i reinstalled to the latest 22 and then copied over my .mozilla folder since then FF has been crashing. so i opened it in troubleshoot mode and it still crashed. so i moved .mozilla over and let FF recreate it and its still crashing.

im not sure where to go from here.

I recently got a new laptop (Lenovo Legion 5 I think) and while it's been working great, I've noticed a glitch that's happened a few times now. It's usually preceded by the image having some weird line pattern, I haven't been able to take a picture of it but it's almost like the pixels have been shifted ever so slightly. After that the screen sometimes splits strangely (see image). I don't know if this is a hardware problem or a Firefox thing but the only time it has happened was when I was on Firefox so yeah...

Since updating to version 135.0.1 last night, all kinds of interactive maps have been loading like the pictured attached below. Even maps in pdf aren't properly loading, loading black pages. Everything works completely fine in all my other browsers.

On iGPU hardware, default dedicated VRAM is usually 0.5GB and the maximum is 2GB.

On my laptop Firefox only use 0.48GB(dedicated VRAM)/0.2GB(shared VRAM) when I set VRAM to auto(512MB) in BIOS.

The screenshot is when I set dedicated VRAM to 2GB in BIOS, and you can see the VRAM usage has increased to 1GB(dedicated)/0.5GB(shared).

It seems Firefox is restrict itself to dedicated VRAM and not fully utilize the vast amount of shared GPU memory. This makes sense on dGPU hardware but not on iGPU hardware. On iGPU hardware, the negligible amount of dedicated GPU memory exists only for compatibility to legacy programs, and Firefox should allocate all it's GPU memory from the shared GPU memory pool.

I am trying to access iDRAC 7 on a Dell Poweredge R520. On version 133.0.3 I get a An error occurred during a connection to 192.168.1.20. PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR. I know that the problem is that Firefox stop supporting older versions of TLS. So I choose to also install an older version of Firefox (43.0). On that version I get a The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified error. I used to have no problems accessing iDRAC 7. Has anyone else been able to resolve this problem?
