So I patiently shut my mouth last month after I was told the "devs" are looking into why the bookmarks reset to the top of the folder each time they're used. Waited for the next update. The problem still exists. Nothing has changed.

The oft-cited bug report refers to INTERMITTENT behavior. This happens All.The.Flipping.Time. That bug report isn't worth squat. And to try and file a new one with the accurate behavior frequency, it gets dismissed as a duplicate by someone who apparently loves mindlessly scrolling bookmarks all freakin day.

When is this issue going to be resolved?

I normally have my bookmarks showing to the left of the main window. I have many, in various header categories like medical, games, finance, etc. Recently I was doing some and wanted to close the bookmarks to give me more room for the main page. I THINK I did it very easily with a right click and close folder or some such thing. Worked great. I got to have more of my display to show on the page.

I am now incredibly frustrated that I can't get them back. I have done research and tried to follow the directions but can't get it to work. I have found Bookmark Tools and Options and I have "always show" checked. But I can't get my bookmarks back to the left of the main page where I can easily go to where I want to go.

I need help! Please. Very frustrating.

Hello. First of all, does anyone know where a list of supported query terms for smart bookmarks could be found?

I already know some, such as "sort=" and "maxResults=", but would like to see a full list.

Second, would it be possible to use smart bookmarks to show a list of visited websites whose URLs match a pattern such as "food.com/*doughnuts*"? That is, all websites from food.com that also have the term doughnuts in the URL?

Thank you, Firefox, for rendering the Bookmarks completely dysfunctional for all but the simplest of users. I have thousands of bookmarks well organized in folders and sub-folders. Now I cannot reach the bookmarks in the sub-folders beyond the first fly-out because it never shifts the mouse focus to the fly-out sub-folder. This is a CRITICAL ISSUE that makes trying to use my carefully compiled bookmarks nearly impossible. HELP!!!

Hello, I have already googled and found two sets of instructions for doing this via a userChrome.css file. But I could not get either to work.

So am I doing something wrong or has the code changed? Or alternatively, is there another method for enabling the 'edit URL' box within the add / edit bookmarks editor?

Here's what I did: I changed the about:config setting: toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets to true

I created a folder named "chrome" within my profile folder (the same profile folder that contains, for example, "places.sqlite").

Inside the chrome folder I placed a file named "userChrome.css" (and yes the file extension is "css" and not, for example, txt).

However, placeing either of the following two pieces of code inside this userChrome.css file did nothing (and yes Firefox was restarted after each change).

1st code:

/*** Reveal URL box in Add/Edit Bookmark drop-down ***/

  1. editBMPanel_locationRow[collapsed="true"]{
 visibility: visible !important;

}

2nd code:

/*** Reveal URL box in Add/Edit Bookmark drop-down ***/

  1. editBMPanel_locationRow, #editBMPanel_keywordRow {
 visibility: visible !important;

}

When I click on the Bookmark tab and move my cursor down the list, I used to be able to hover over a bookmark and a second later I would get a small "pop-up" that would have the complete URL in it. Lately, if I hover over a bookmark, I still get the small window, but it is blank. I've had this issue for several months, thinking that an update would fix the problem, but it hasn't. I have the current version of Firefox. The image attached shows a screenshot of the issue. I am hovered on "Craigslist". You can see the blank "pop-up" as indicated by the arrow. This is on a desktop version, by the way.

Firefox Sync messes up Bookmarks (sort order, multiple instances) - 6+ Year Old Problem

Very long-standing issue that keeps getting closed without resolution. My bookmarks won't stay sorted in the Bookmark Menus folder. The last solution I saw is a broken link having to do with corrupt 'Places'. Doesn't work anyway. I only have another device syncing with Firefox and not very often because I seldom use that laptop. Always this desktop.

I do have a lot of bookmarks over the years and it just keeps getting worse. If I Manage Bookmarks and sort them, they only stay sorted as long as I open that window separately. When I close it, the bookmarks are unsorted again. When will Firefox fix this? It's leaving a mess that is making my bookmarks unusable. When I click on that tab, I expect to see a bunch of folders, then files. Instead, I see files, then folders somewhere in the middle, mixed with other folders I don't even use, then a bunch more files. Sort by name doesn't show up as an option if I right click in the middle of all the files I see.

I have tried to delete those files, but they won't stay deleted. It's pulling them from somewhere, but I don't know where that 'somewhere' is. Does anybody have an idea how to contact Firefox tech support for an answer? Nobody seems to know what's going on with this issue. I won't list all my bookmarks, because some are more personal than others. This is just an idea. Please be nice. I've been using Firefox forever and a day.

I went to save a bookmark in a folder and saw the folder was missing. Then I noticed some things didn't seem right so I tried putting folders in the right place. That is when I noticed that when I moved one folder, several others would just move somewhere else! I could move one folder down in a list, then some - but not all - would jump to a new place in the order. An important folder is missing. So, what causes this to start happening? Also, how can I recover my missing bookmarks from Windows Backup? And is there any way to know which bookmarks and folders were deleted? I have recently added some important ones, so I don't want to delete the existing ones and restore the old ones, nor do I want to simply restore the old ones in the existing hierarchy and then have gazillions of duplicates. Explanations and help is appreciated. Thanks!

My computer crashed and I lost my Firefox browser settings, history, bookmarks, etc. Had to reinstall the the whole thing. I suppose there may have been a way to get everything back, but I didn't have access to that info at the time. I transferred my bookmarks from my other browsers to Firefox, but they just show up in a folder. Is there any way to transfer all of it so that everything shows on one list, without moving each one line by line?

Many of my bookmarked websites do not show the site icon. Only the generic globe. I've noticed that bookmarked sites that do show an icon also show a blue star in the page action area when I go to that site. Not so for the bookmarks showing a globe.

I have tried the following: Installing Cache Favicons for Bookmarks extension. Making sure the site address in the page action area matches the bookmarked site address. Deleting a bookmarked site and re-saving it. Probably a couple other things I read about but can't remember now.

None of the above helped. As an aside, this happened after I got a new PC with Win 10. My old PC was upgraded to Win 10 from Win 7. (Don't know if that would have anything to do with it.) After I installed Firefox on the new PC, it found my previously saved websites. All had generic globes. As I went to various sites, the icon would appear for some and not others. (Those other sites, I know had an icon previously.)

Anyone out there with further thoughts on this? Thanks in advance.
