Hello! I have illustrated the problem in this video: video hosted at youtube.com there.

As you can see there firefox uses 3.5 times more memory than chrome!

Also, running the gc, cc, minimize memory usage - at about:memory had no noticeable results.

Did I understand correctly that 700Mb are used for some address-spacing? ( screenshot at 1:12 in 1:12 video

Under about:performance the firefox tabs show up an adequate ammount of RAM usage (50Mb, most even less, one 100 Mb, but that is not the mystical 500 Mb!!!).

So the question is - what for is the huge ammount of RAM wasted for? If judging from the about:performance the actual usefull required minimum is just a small part of RAM being abused by firefox?

Are there some distributed computing processes going on? Are you abusing simple users computers for some computing needs?

Do you happen to know whether (there exists or is planning to relaunch) - something similar to the MemShrink project I mention at the end of the video?

I also tried setting the "multiple content processes" at settings to 1 and modified the browser.tabs.remote.autostart (at about:config) to false. Now it uses 760 Mb for 6 tabs which is less, but still not even close to the actual minimum shown at about:performance nor what chrome is able to save (compared to firefox)... Besides, I do not wish to turn off concurrent processing just to save some RAM.

When trying to remember the names of the settings I just mentioned I noticed that there is an advice to install firemin plugin. I think I will give it a shot but meanwhile I am totally interested in what you may answer - especially about whether the 700 Mb are used for.... address spacing??? (although I read at some posts an opinion that 1.5 gigs is "not much" for a 4Gb RAM... But still I hope and am waiting an answer! :) ) Best regards, Oskars

I cannot save items in my WordPress website anymore. This is a new problem that started this week. As far as I know there have been no software changes on the website. When I try to save anything now I get this error after I get the error in the attached image.

For some time now I've had problems with Google Shopping with Firefox. After clicking the shopping button, results are displayed for a few seconds. After that everything disappears and the website is empty. After reloading the page, something is displayed again. When I move the cursor over the pictures, everything disappears again. This problem does not exist with other browsers. Who has a solution? Thomas

A site I'm building has an email input. It is not connected to Facebook in any way, yet the Facebook Container claims the site can share my email address with Facebook.

How/why?

Good evening. I have Firefox set to NOT switch to a new tab when it opens from a link but it does anyway. I clicked the box and unclicked it but it still switches over. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, how can I stop the address bar from searching the web and just search bookmarks and history? I have a separate bar for searching and prefer my web searches show up there.

Yesterday, the websites jwz.org and dnalounge.com (yes, the two websites run by one of Mozilla's conceivers) stopped working on Firefox. They just keep saying "Connection Timed Out", despite every other website loading fine.

I went through all the add-on-disabling and troubleshooting steps emphasised here, but it hasn't solved the problem.

This happens in both Firefox desktop and mobile for Android, but works fine in other browsers. Again, I went through all the steps of disabling add-ons/plug-ins and operating in Troubleshooter mode.

Sometimes, after the last major Firefox upgrade, upon clicking on a link on webpages, immediately, the link moves to another location on the webpage without opening the link. I then have to move my mouse to "chase" the link and then when clicked on again, it does not move and the link opens.

I would like to have this issue fixed.

My Firefox browser is constantly showing 1 GB of disk space used. I've set up automatic clear of site data and cookies. I'm constantly having to clear all data and then sign in to all my usual websites all over again. I'm not able to get onto my banking websites most likely due to this data clog. I'm SO TOTALLY tired of this constant cycle of trying to clear my data and accessing my usual websites. I'm using Firefox for many years without this trouble. I'm one week away from changing browsers. If I go to Safari I am not finding this trouble. Chrome is my next choice. I use my Mac computer for personal use only and my firefox is up to date. I'm using Big Sur on my macbook pro. What is going on?? Without a solution I'm out of here.

Firefox 90.0.2 on Windows 10 was installed on 7/27/2021 which is about when this started.

Firefox is suddenly asking for master password twice, while running, not at startup. I leave Firefox running at night. I find two password dialogs when I log in in the morning. I'm not sure if they display at a certain time (e.g. midnight), or if it is a result of the system going into sleep and waking.

When Firefox starts or restarts, it displays one master password as expected.

I found this article from two years ago , but the "hotfix-update-xpi-signing-intermediate-bug" is not found in about:debug or in profiles.

I have not installed any add-ons recently. Last Windows update was KB5004237 installed on 7/18.

Is it Firefox? What else could be causing this problem?

My website/blog is not loading correctly. Took off all addons, etc. It works fine in Edge. What else can I do? Wordpress site. Side widget loads at the bottom in Firefox.

I am trying to restore my original my.yahoo.com page(s). Followed directions for restoring homepage in Firefox, but instead of just deleting the part of the target, I deleted the whole shortcut. What belongs in there?

Hi, as of a couple months ago, Firefox has started asking for the primary password multiple times. It used to only do it once when it syncs after startup. But now I sometimes get the popup for the primary password multiple times. I haven't figured out a way to reproduce since it seems to randomly pop up, even when I'm not actively doing something in the browser. I believe this started happening after an update but I can't pin down the actual onset of this problem so I'm not sure. Does anyone else experience the same thing?

Been a continuous user of FF since the beginning. Recently (most recent few weeks) FF has started issuing popup notices in the lower right hand portion of the browser screen. These only occur when FF is loaded and active. How can I tell which, if any, extensions might be responsible so I can resolve and stop these annoying messages? I've tried trying to determine how and why myself without success. Any suggestions - thank you.

Earlier, we asked Google Support for help, because only one of our 9 Gmail accounts did not open in Firefox.

It turns out we could open it in a private window.

Why is that necessary? We did not change our settings or anything else.

I've been noticing this for many months or maybe even a year. I'll have a dozen or so tabs open that haven't been looked at for a day or two, to many weeks and when I go back to look at them the url is empty but part of the name of the website is in the tab. Reloading doesn't work, going back doesn't work. I am unable to load the website when this happens and essentially lose that information on the page. This happens on firefox ios Phone, iPad, Windows 10 and Mac. All devices have a lot of space on them but the phone only has 12gigs available. It seems like its happening more and more. I don't have any add on's. I also see a lot of tabs open that has "about" in the URL, I don't know why this is and or maybe its related.
