on a mac....I added a mis-spelled word to firefox dict. I found tutorials for how to remove. Following these, I went into library>application support and I don't have a firefox folder there. I also used finder to look for the persdict.dat file and nothing. Help please.

Windows has crashed and I have to reinstall Vista. I cannot therefore make a backup of my bookmarks but I assume there is a file somewhere on my crashed disk that carries that detail. If so, can I copy that file and replace it in my new installation of firefox. If this file exists I would appreciate knowing the name of the file that I should copy, and the directory that I might find it in.

My original harddisk is now called "G" (with partitions H&I). System not able to start from "G". Starts from "C". All original settings and programs still on G. How I get my addons, bookmarks or passwords again in Firefox? Message sent from different comp, so FFversion and pluginsnot right

I sought to check in /root, but "cd /root" returns "permission denied," and "sudo cd /root" returns, "command not found."

i have ff3.5.10.i used to click tools,options and the page allowed me to block cookies from any site i chose.now there is a different page which stores cookies from all sites i visit. i think this must be due to an add-on which i did not seek or authorize.i want to have the previous option page where I selected the cookies i wanted on the pc.what do i do?

I imported my previous Bookmarks but they've all gone into the Bookmarks menu; how do I get the previous Toolbar ones back into the Toolbar instead of just having them in a sub-menu in Bookmarks?

Firefox automatically updates to 3.6 when I reboot and I can no longer view flash files. When I reload 3.5.11 everything works fine until I reboot, then Firefox automatically reloads 3.6 :-( Is there any way to turn off the auto update, this is a suck ass feature! Also, some web pages are not rendered correctly. You may want to test your software a little more before you push it on to us.

When I click on Firefox the first time it says "Foxfire is installing your updates and will start in a few moments…. (with a green bar)" then it says "Software Update Failed (in blue) with an exclamation mark inside a yellow triangle) The update could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other copies of Firefox running on your computer, and then restart Firefox to try again." When I click the ok, Firefox opens up. If I open another Firefox window with the previous one still running, it doesn't give me any of these messages, it just opens normally.

I am about to be involved in voluntary work in South Africa, at a location with very slow internet connection. As I will be there for some months, possibly years, I am wanting to be prepared for restoring laptop items in case of crash (or buying a newer laptop). I have already downloaded the Firefox browser and saved it as an .exe on an external drive. I would like to do the same for my add-ons as I use them a lot (things like iMacros, readitlater, ietab, linky). Is it possible to save these as files that can be stored on an external drive - rather than automatically installing them into my Firefox system?

When I print a Yahoo email, the text does not wrap (it used to) so part of the text is cut off. Also, the side bar that list my Inbox, Drafts, Sent, etc is printed out along with the email - it didn't used to and because of that, there is not enough room for all of my email. I tried resetting it to Shrink to Fit, but that didn't help; also tried changing the print setting from 100% to 60% but it still doesn't fit on the page.

In my Firefox search window I see Search engines for GB, like yahoo.co.uk, amazon.co.uk, ebay.co.uk etc. I live in USA and I want American search engines.

For the past three days, Firefox opens as if for the first time - forgetting all the Options setting I save each time. This is a waste of my time and money. It operated for years correctly.

It used to work fine but for about a 8 months now I get no audio with streaming videos. I have no problem playing videos I have downloaded. I sometimes get audio when streaming from a DIVX site like Stagevu.

I was searching for a certain photo using Google and when tried to open one of the results i got this hxxp://supportff .co .cc/ where the page offers me to update Firefox. I was suspicious and decided to report it here. It doesn't look like legitimate site, but I'm not too experienced with this subject.
