Why was an unremovable "Extensions" menu added to my toolbar?
I would like to be able to remove this from my toolbar but cannot which is inconsistent to how customizing the toolbar normally functions.

Hey guys!
I'm running Win 10pro, Microsoft Office Pro Plus 2021 and Firefox X64. I set Firefox as the default browser, but for some reason that setting isn't "sticking." If Edge is installed, I can't find it. Believe me, I tried, because I wanted to uninstall it if possible.
I'm still getting used to the new Outlook (I won't tell you what version I WAS using...) but this is throwing me for a loop...
If I do not have Firefox open: When I open a link in Outlook, a new window is opened in Firefox. This window does not include any toolbars nor are any of my customizations applied (themes, extensions) As a matter of fact, opening the link in this new bare-bones window disables all my extensions and if I want my theme back, I have to remove it from my theme manager and reinstall it, because the option to enable/disable the theme isn't there.
If I DO have Firefox open: When I open a link in Outlook, I get "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window." If I close Firefox, I'll get that same bare-bones window and all my extensions and themes are disabled.
Has anyone seen anything like this before and can you help?
Thanks a bunch....

My setup: A remote server running CentOS Linux 7 and Firefox Browser 102.7.0esr (64-bit), accessed via RDP from a Windows 10 Enterprise laptop (No tablet)
Up in the top right corner of the Mozilla Firefox window, I have only the close button, the Minimize and the Maximize buttons are missing. In the same gnome (desktop) environment, all other running windows has those buttons available.
Note: if toggle enable or disable those buttons “Minimize” & “Maximize” [command: gnome-tweaks > Windows > "Titlebar Buttons" > toggle] , all running windows in gnome will be affected correctly, except the Firefox window, with no impact. Reinstall Firefox did not help.
This behavior started after our latest yum update recently.
When connected locally to the Linux server, there are no issues, the buttons are available. (i.e., no RDP involved)

I've used Firefox for years on my iMac with its 5K display. The UI was fine. Today I had to delete and then re-install Firefox because the program had started crashing repeatedly. I lost a lot of bookmarks & tabs. Upon opening the new install, I saw that Firefox now shows a miniaturized UI that is very difficult to read. I refer to the UI elements (tabs, bookmarks bar, URL/search field), not the web pages themselves. As part of the installation, I went through all the settings, and I didn't see any controls for the sizes of UI elements. So I searched the internet and found many reports of similar problems over many years. I tried a few suggested changes to about:config settings. Nothing has worked. I am exasperated. What am I missing? Can anyone help?

Hi,
does anyone know what to do to make the background of the bookmarks icon and the reload icon the same as the icon with the site connection lock? I've exhausted all options in the userChrome.css and cant get the background to change. It's in hover state.
For reference I've added a couple of images, the first how the background is and the second how I would like it to look. I'm on macOS and latest Firefox 111.
Best regards,
Johnny

There used to be an icon just to the right of the star (for creating a new bookmark) on the address bar that when clicked gave a drop-down bookmark menu. For some reason it disappeared and I cannot seem to get it back. All I have been able to do is go to settings => bookmarks to get a list of bookmarks, which, however, doesn't have the bookmarks organized into the sub-categories I once had. How can I get that icon back on the address bar? I don't want to add on a bookmark bar or tool bar.

When I open "Extensions" (about:addons) by clicking the Extensions icon, I want it to start on my own extensions, not Recommendations. How can I make "Extensions" open to the actual Extensions tab? Or can I remove the "Recommendations" tab entirely?
I already saw [to remove 'Recommendations' tab in about:addons]. But about:config
extensions.htmlaboutaddons.recommendations.enabled = false
only removes recommendations from the Extensions tab. And adding
extensions.getAddons.showPane = false
does not work, the Recommendations tab is still there.

hello guys I need help with this problem in firefox developed edition
Specifically, when I use the Inspector panel to inspect elements on a webpage, the selected elements are outlined with a blue border instead of being filled with color. This is making it difficult for me to visualize the layout and styling of the elements, and I would prefer to have them filled with color instead.
I have tried to find a solution on my own by searching online, but have not been able to find a clear answer. Could you please advise me on how to change the settings in Firefox Developer Edition so that the Inspector panel highlights elements with a fill color instead of just an outline?

We used to be able to organize our extension buttons and icons in the toolbar, beside the address bar. However, I just updated Firefox and can no longer show these icons on the toolbar. Instead, they're hidden in the Extensions menu (with the puzzle-piece icon)
This is annoying.
There are some extensions I use many times a day, like my password manager. Is there a way to move my extension/plugin buttons back to the toolbar?

I'm using macOS (Apple MacBook) where I'm running the latest stable version of Firefox: 112.0.
Based on https://support.mozilla.org/bm/questions/1344663 I have already enabled the preference accessibility.typeaheadfind.prefillwithselection = true
But this only copies the selected text to the Find bar when I press Cmd-F. It doesn't automatically search the text. I then have to press the Return key or press Cmd-G to make it search and find the nearest match (and also update the number of matches, and update the highlighted results if Highlight All is enabled).
How can I skip the extra step and make it also search the selected text which it has copied and pre-filled in the Find bar? Is there another preference to control that? Or should I open a bug report in Bugzilla?
Here are my current settings with the keyword 'find':
accessibility.typeaheadfind false accessibility.typeaheadfind.autostart true accessibility.typeaheadfind.casesensitive 0 accessibility.typeaheadfind.enablesound true accessibility.typeaheadfind.flashBar 0 accessibility.typeaheadfind.linksonly false accessibility.typeaheadfind.manual true accessibility.typeaheadfind.matchesCountLimit 1000 accessibility.typeaheadfind.prefillwithselection true accessibility.typeaheadfind.soundURL beep accessibility.typeaheadfind.startlinksonly false accessibility.typeaheadfind.timeout 5000 browser.find.ignore_ruby_annotations true findbar.entireword false findbar.highlightAll true findbar.iteratorTimeout 100 findbar.matchdiacritics 0 findbar.modalHighlight false services.sync.prefs.sync.accessibility.typeaheadfind true services.sync.prefs.sync.accessibility.typeaheadfind.linksonly true
Right now the only hotkey, or at least the one I know of is CMD B , which is really annoying when trying to make text bold in text editor.

Is there a way to permanently disable red underlining from Firefox spell check? This has only started occurring since an update to Firefox 110 (now on 112), but there seems to be no way to make it go away. I've unchecked the spelling box in preferences, and killed off things in about:config:
extensions.spellcheck.inline.max-misspellings 0 layout.spellcheckDefault 0 services.sync.prefs.sync.layout.spellcheckDefault false services.sync.prefs.sync.spellchecker.dictionary false
I'm using Mac Monterey, and have the global spell check turned off for that. This seems to be a problem specific to Firefox, as it doesn't happen in Chrome (spellcheck off) or Safari. I'd like to remove this entirely, since it's distracting to have it second guessing me whenever I'm typing. The main reason I use Firefox is that it gives me the ability to control many things, particularly in combination with UBlock, but I'm unable to make any progress in removing this persistent work disruption.

I've tried following both methods for dissabling the mute button on tabs, it's a slight annoyance, since it's easy to accidentally mute a tab when it's pinned.
Specifically, the first method I've tried changing the setting in about:config called "browser.tabs.showAudioPlayingIcon" from true to false, which was from 7 years ago it seems, which had no effect.
The second method was by making a new rule in a "userChrome.css" file in a new folder called "chrome" with that exact naming, case sensitive. The code in that file is as follows:
/* Hide the mute/unmute button */ .tab-icon-overlay:not([pinned], [sharing], [crashed]):is([soundplaying], [muted]) { display: none !important; } /* Keep site icon visible on hover */ .tabbrowser-tab:hover .tab-icon-stack:not([pinned], [sharing], [crashed]):is([soundplaying], [muted]) > :not(.tab-icon-overlay), /* for site icon with Compact density */ :root[uidensity="compact"] .tab-icon-stack:not([pinned], [sharing], [crashed]):is([soundplaying], [muted]) > :not(.tab-icon-overlay) { opacity: 1 !important; /* overrides full transparency with full opacity */ }
If there's an updated version of the code that's meant to have that effect in modern firefox, then please let me know, or if there's some other new way of removing the mute button on tabs. Thanks.

Hi - new to the forums.
I have a fairly retrograde, request :slight_smile:
I want to have Firefox operate with ONLY ONE tab on screen at any time!
By That I mean, whenever I try a new search ,or open a new link, I want it to REPLACE the one and only existing tab always. Firefox will only ever have one tab on the screen- no multiple tabs allowed.
Is this possible?
Many Thanks

I am perpetually annoyed by Firefox's tab hotkeys. Meant to type "^" when writing an equation? Well, too bad, you accidentally pressed ctrl instead of shift, you are now on the 6th tab of your whole browser, and you gotta go find the tab you were on. The ctrl+page up/down hotkeys are slightly less annoying, although still very infuriating. Is there any way to disable this behavior?
I am getting unwanted notifications from a website that I did not request. How do I stop this?
