Sometimes all add-ons / extensions break randomly and are disabled (the icon of the extensions is also broken under "Manage Your Extensions").

The extensions are visible under "about:addons", but the slider is turned off and the icon in front of each extension is broken / empty.

It seems that deleting these 2 files- compatibility.ini and extensions.json inside the firefox profile folder, usually fixes the issue. Only these 2 files though, don't delete anything else.

No need to mess around with the ff profiles or anything else, just deleting those 2 files and restarting the firefox usually fixes the issue with the "unregistered" addons.

This thread is for the search function, as I found some VERY old and outdated suggestions for the aforementioned issue using the search function.

I wonder what causes the extensions to "unregister" randomly.

I'm an old school draftsman and I have been using Firefox for over 25 years. I have always had good experiences using Firefox, until a few months ago. I can't get my gmail through Firefox anymore. I get CloudFlare security ERRORS so much I've almost quit using Firefox completely. How can I fix these problems and continue using your browser?

I have had TOO Many of these pages happen to keep using Firefox. WHY ?

I am not able to load any games on Facebook using Firefox,the game main page loads and the spinning loading just stops and goes no further. All other browsers do not have this problem, chrome loaded fine, Microsoft Edge loaded fine. I was able to get it to work for a short bit last night on Firefox by totally removing Firefox, including folders last night, shut down, tried today and issue has returned. I have tried all the steps in the forums, nothing is working, why is it only Firefox doing this?

Sometimes Firefox suddenly closes without warning and loses all my open tabs. When it re-opens, I have to log in again to the tabs. My Firefox is up to date and so is my Windows 10 Home. I have a strong Wi-Fi connection.

Hopefully someone out there is a hiker/backpacker who the AllTrails app with Firefox. I use AllTrails to plan and record my hike. While hiking I take photos which record the Latitude and Longitude where the photo is taken. I can then upload those to my hike on AllTrails. Unfortunately, the photo upload feature does not work with Firefox. I must therefore switch to Edge, something I do not want to do. Hopefully there is an add-on or something to solve this problem...

This is more of a suggestion than a question, unless there is a hidden feature that I was not able to locate.

I know that the Master password helps to make sure that my password is safe. It would be also be nice if the next release will prevent to open a website that has a "stay signed in" window.

My daily backups of my personal account on a ubuntu-derived system are enormous. The first problem I found was the directory .cache, full of kinds of things that change daily and don't belong in a backup. I eliminated this directory from the backups, halving their size. So far so good. But the incremental backups are still huge, even on days where I've barely used the system at all.

The next biggest questionable directory is .mozilla/firefox/05malccw.default-release and in particular .mozilla/firefox/05malccw.default-release/storage

It's pretty clear what program creates this and regularly changes it contents. Examining the files suggests that most or all of them are useless in a data-recovery type situation. But I'm not sure.

What's in this directory? Will the path change when I update to a new version of firefox, using normal ubuntu tools? Is there an rsync pattern I can use to identify all possible directories with this function, so as to teach my backup script to ignore not only the current directory, but the one I'll get when I next update firefox?

Are there other directories created/populated by firefox that shouldn't be in backups, besides .mozilla/firefox/05malccw.default-release/ and .cache/mozilla ?

Note that I'm on an ubuntu derivative, using the packages from the distro repositories; it's more than possible that paths are determines at build time, by the people who configure and build those packages.

YouTube won't start playing in Firefox. No add-ons enabled. The page is fully loaded, but clicking on Play makes nothing.

The fix is to disable "User recommended performance settings" and then disable "User hardware acceleration when available".

The problem is that hardware acceleration is enabled by default. In Edge or Chrome hardware acceleration is also enabled but it won't break YouTube.

I currently have a 'bad/rouge' session of Windows 7 Firefox (don't really know how that happened) open (7 'Windows', each with one empty Tab plus 1 'Window', with only 1 populated tab (Yahoo Mail)! I need to close Firefox in order to restart my laptop (strange things have been happening, including not being able to access the internet)!! On restarting, I want to be able to open Firefox with the previous session I had with my 8 'Windows', each with dozens and dozens of Tabs! Please help, I sorely need those many 'Windows' and Tabs!!!

I keep getting notifications from this website. How can I stop them? I've blocked the website but I still get the notifications.

So to start with, this is a brand new computer, the video card was out of an old computer but everything else is brand new. Upon installing windows and updating everything we installed Firefox it started for a few minutes then crashed.

After many tries(uninstalling and reinstalling) we find that uninstalling Firefox and installing through Microsoft store it will start once but crash shortly after and will not start again. If we are able to get through to the menu and disable hardware acceleration it works a little longer but will eventually crash and never open again.

Holding down shift will not open troubleshooting mode.

I have updated everything to make sure it is up-to-date, through manufacturers websites. I have gone step by step with every recommended page to try and I still can't get Firefox to start even once now.

I'm sure it is a check box somewhere that needs to be checked or unchecked preventing Firefox from starting, but I am at my wit's end here.

Please help!
