I made the mistake of installing Norton Private Browser on my Win10 laptop, and it took over the browser extensions as the default program. I tried making Firefox the default browser again and Windows took me to the Settings menu. Firefox is no longer in the list of browsers. Is there a way to fix this situation? Thanks.

Hello!

Since at least one update, and maybe two, I have been having the following experience:

For context: I do remote work via Zoom and Teams. I am using an iMac running Sonoma 14.1. I use a magic keyboard and magic mouse. I bought the computer in March of 2023.

1. Open Firefox and use it for a while. All is well.

2. Out of nowhere, with no sequence or pattern I have been able to discern so far, Firefox stops responding to left button mouse clicks. Right ones still work.

3. Quit Firefox and re-open.

4. It responds to left button clicks again.

I don't usually have to do this more than once per day, although I had had days during which I had to do it two or three times.

This does not occur in Safari or Chrome.

Thoughts? X-sH

Hello. I have a problem on an old laptop. The laptop cannot play videos with a resolution greater than 720 pixels. A situation often arises when you open a website and cannot watch a video there made by customers about a product. There is no option to select resolution on many sites, and browsers by default try to play videos at the maximum resolution, ignoring the capabilities of the laptop. The essence of the question is, is it possible to limit the video resolution for all sites in a browser or system?

My browser keeps crashing for literally no reason. It's happened like 20 times in the last 10 minutes. I can't use it for more than 5 minutes without either my tab crashing or the entire browser crashing. Here is my latest crash report: https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/d2ea16e0-98a5-41d1-ad16-cf2fd0240324

The "Crash reason" is "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION_EXEC". I have tried changing out my RAM and updating my drivers. I have ran all the system check programs ("sfc /scannow", "chkdsk" and the Windows Memory Diagnostic) and they all report no problems. Please help me as soon as possible as I just can not continue using the browser like this.

The "page info" window showed up when I used ctrl+i to italicize something in a blog post. This has never happened before.

I assume I did something to "enable" it, because right before that I had been typing looking at the screen and not the keys and felt/saw my hands going wonky, but I'm not sure what on earth I did! I asked a friend about it and they said it just seemed like an issue of the browser and website commands fighting, but they weren't sure what to do about it.

Thanks for any insight!

In settings, my default browser setting is greyed out and I have "Your browser is being managed by your organisation". The default browser is locked to Firefox.

I have tried various fixes in these help pages but nothing works to get rid of the default browser lock or the "Your browser is being managed by your organisation."

I delete the key in Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies but it repopulates as soon as I reboot.

For information I have TOR browser as well but there appear to be no issues there. Only problems in Firefox

Can anyone help and unlock my browser default to Firefox?

Since I upgraded from Kaspersky Internet Security to Kaspersky Plus, my Protected Browser version of Firefox has lost track of my current Protected bookmarks and stored passwords - but the bookmarks and passwords in the standard (i.e. not Protected Browser) Firefox remain the current set. Unfortunately this is a different set, so I no longer have access to the Protected passwords etc. Although Firefox has just updated to 124.0.1 the About display in Protected Browser insists "Firefox is being updated by another instance". Kaspersky have studied the GetSystemInfo report and cannot find anything amiss, so is Firefox causing the problem? e.g. where in Firefox did Kaspersky manage to find a three-years-out-of-date set of bookmarks and passwords?

The web page

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Add-ons/WebExtensions/Native_messaging#troubleshooting

says: if the native application sends any output to stderr, the browser will redirect it to the browser console.

Is that still supposed to work? I'm asking because it seems that in recent versions of firefox that no longer works. I do not see any output that my native app emits to stderr. I tried multiple systems (all Windows based) and multiple versions of Firefox (including "115.9.1esr (64-Bit)" and "116.0.3 (64-bit)")

I've become VERY diligent about replacing my old, simple passwords.

I no longer repeat passwords, have long complex logins, everything (not to mention 2-factor notification on sites that have it)

I was shocked that after I updated to 124.0.1 that alot of my old passwords showed back up in my saved logins

Fortunately that doesn't mean that those are still active passwords on there respective sites.

However, how do I get my "saved logins" back to it's form BEFORE I updated to 124.0.1.....it seems that the update is what did it

the only solution I can come up with is just manually delete all the old ones that showed back up...I really don't want to do that

For what it's worth- I do have a "Old Firefox Data" file on my desktop

I'm currently running MacOS Sonoma 14.2.1

Thank you I hope you can help

I changed computers. I installed Firefox. I followed these directions:

Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

I copy the contents of the profile folder from the old computer to the new profile folder on the new computer. I opened Firefox and my bookmarks and Add-Ins were not restored. I manually imported my bookmarks from a backup and got them restored. How do I restore my Add-ins and all their settings and configuration files?

Why did that profile files restoration restore my bookmarks and Add-Ins?

Thanks to anybody who can help me.

Starting about a week ago, when I use Firefox 124.01 on my Windows 10 PC to visit Ebay, the pages show in Portuguese, and the country shows as Brazil. I'm in the USA. This problem does not occur when I use Chrome, Opera or Edge. Any idea about why this has happened and what I can do to fix it. On Ebay, I can manually change the language and location, but if I close Firefox, the problem returns. I'm using the version of FF that keeps no cookies or history. Thanks

Hello,

the Startup of our Firefox is slow on some Machines. With Developer-Tools enabled we don´t see any activity in the Network Tab until the Page starts to Load after 35 - 120 seconds.

What we did to determine the Problem so far:

  • disabled Anti-Vir
  • Disabled VPN-Client and tried connection via LTE-Hotspot to bypass company Network and Firewall
  • Changed DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 9.9.9.9
  • Deleted Cache
  • Changed Startup-Page
  • Disabled Secure DNS in Firefox Settings
  • Disabled all GPOs on Workstation and deleted policies.json so no Policies got applyed
  • deleted Startup-Cache and enabled secure-start in about:support
  • reinstalled Firefox
  • changed from up to date ESR to latest Release
  • Users Temp and Windwos-Temp deleted

No Problems on another similar Workstation with same Firefox Release.

I wonder if there is any startup-debugging capability.

About a week ago I started getting these update error messages stating "Update available - Firefox couldn't update automatically. Download the new version". I've also tried clicking "learn more" on the error message but it's a dead link. Going into the settings for updates I am set to auto update, but when I manually check for updates it says "Failed to check for updates".

The help article on this issue simply tells you to download and manually reinstall Firefox, but I'm having to do this nearly every day. I work in IT myself so I know a "bandaid" workaround when I see one. Is there a solution to this issue?
