Manage Exceptions button for cookies is not working for me since FF88 or 89, don’t remember which version precisely. I click on the button and the dialogue box that would normally appear to set exceptions does not pop up. Moreover it looks like when I click on the button the user interface on that tab freezes for a period. My FF profile is customised. I know if I start with a blank profile the issue goes away. I have another that works fine. However I would rather try to fix this issue in my current profile. I poked around in about:config but so far have had no success.

Any ideas? I searched google but could not find anything. Also checked mozilla bugzilla a while back without success. I am using FF 92 on Arch Linux.

When i click on the lock icon in the address bar, nothing happens (I would expect to see the encryption and certificate, but no widget opens). When I right-click into the page and select "View Page Info", "Security", "View Certificate", no certificate exists. Only generic info is shown (Servers+Authorities). Also an error is reported in the system log, confirming that no certificate exists: JavaScript error: chrome://browser/content/browser-siteIdentity.js, line 642: TypeError: issuerCert is undefined

Questions:

  • Why does Firefox show the lock icon while no certificate exists?
  • How does Firefox establish a secure connection without having a certificate? (From my understanding a certificate is needed for TLS to work.)

Version used: Firefox 78.12.0esr ('Mozilla/5.0 (X11; FreeBSD amd64; rv:78.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/78.0'), no add-ons or plugins.

Video Not Playing Until Firefox Is Restarted Once

Okay, PopOS 21.04, Firefox 92.0 x64, my packages are up to date, my graphics card (Nvidia 1080) drivers are up to date (nvidia-driver-470 (proprietary)), kernal 5.13.0-7614-generic.

I run a variety of addons, but the only ones that should even be touching YouTube in any way would be Noscript, Ublock Origin, YouTube HD, HTTPS Everywhere. In the past with my current configuration none of these have given me any issues with playback.

I don't have any idea why, this is a problem I experienced a long time ago and now newly the other day for seemingly no good reason, videos on YouTube but also the web in general will not play until I open Firefox, close the browser, open it again, and then try and do whatever it was I'm trying to do. While not a fatal issue, this is one that is extremely annoying and I really don't feel like putting up with it.

Anyone have any advice or information?

FF 93 arrived last night and now my setting (from userChrome.css) that removes the cyan color of the urlbar doesn't work anymore:

  1. urlbar[focused="false"]:not([suppress-focus-border]) > #urlbar-background {
 border: none !important;

}

I tried a few different things but they were for older versions of FF and naturally they didn't work. I even added a line "border-color: none !important;" but that didn't work either.

So, any suggestions for version 93 of how to remove the cyan border (again) when I click on the urlbar?

There are no WebGL errors in about:support

I've tried the Troubleshoot Mode but that made no difference.

I've just set up Firefox Sync, but it is only working one way. I can see my computer's tabs from my phone but I cannot see my phone's tabs from the computer - if I use the quick access "Show tabs from other devices" it just spins a loading wheel with "Syncing".

Also, the "Send Tab" option when you right click a tab does not appear at all. Sending a tab from the phone to computer does not result in anything appearing on my computer.

Everything is set to sync on both devices, and I have tried to sync it manually. Both versions are up to date.

Dear Supporter,

I got a notification from a website that FireFox is not up to date. On closer examination, this is indeed the case. Updates were supposed to be done automatically.

I changed Ubuntu's update server to main server; this had no effect.

In settings preferences under updates I see: FireFox Updates Keep FireFox up to date for the best performance, stability and security. Version 88.0 (64bit) Whats new Mozilla FireFox for Ubuntu canonical – 1.0

There is no option to check or disable for automatic updates. As far as I can remember, update to this version was automatically.

In settings help under About Firefox nothing appears about updates.

Extensions: DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials

OS is Ubuntu 16.04 LTS notification: system-up-to-date I assume that should be allright?…

Thunderbird is 68.10.0 That seems ok...

Thank you very much

Starting as of today (Oct 13), the FACEBOOK screen suddenly moves when I am typing a comment. Whenever I hit SHIFT+alpha_letter at the beginning of a line OR simply hit the backspace key, the screen suddenly shifts about a page up, closer to top. This shifts the entry area where I'm typing down and off the screen. Just hitting the backspace to correct a typo causes the screen to scroll on its own. I have to scroll back down to the entry box and if I make another typo, it happens again. It is maddening!

I've restarted in troubleshoot mode and the same thing happens, so it is not an add-on. This is happening on both my Firefox Linux systems AND on a Windows 10 machine, so I don't think it is specifically OS related either. The screen however does stay put, like it is supposed to, using Chrome or Opera.

Is this a Firefox problem or is FACEBOOK messing with Firefox?

Hi! so I installed Kubuntu 20.10 after using it 'directly from the cd' for some time. since, all data would be lost every time i restart, i would keep a copy of a '.mozilla' file i would find in the system. Everytime i start the OS, i would first create a folder and copy paste it, so firefox would start right where i left it off. this worked, until i decided to make Kubuntu permanent. at first things were going good, but after sometime, my OS would stop recognizing my headphones and audio port completely. at first i blamed it on my OS and went about doing somethings here and there to adjust by. but looking back, i had installed some DRM to play some video on the net. so in a desperate fix, i replaced the current .mozilla file with a backup i had. the thing worked like a charm and my audio was fixed and everything was going ok, except for the occasional fixes so that my OS would channel the audio to the right output. that is, until the problem rise again! this time, i hadn't installed anything like i did previously, so i replaced the .mozilla file again and it worked! but i can't keep doing this and i had also faced the same problem in my windows, resulting my change in OS in the first place (I think its the same issue, because whatever i did didn't fix it and windows is more sophisticated that i wouldn't know). I don't know if this much info is too much or too less or that if i should post this here or in any other forums, but i would really appreciate it if i got a solution! Thankyou!

Firefox needs a limit on memory usage. I was developing a tiny web page on Linux (PopOS) and accidentally created an endless loop in Javascript that ate memory (by growing an array). My entire OS became inoperable and had to be hard-rebooted. I was surprised this could happen due to Javascript (a sandboxed browser language), running in a web page (a sandboxed app) running in a Firefox browser that is supposed to protect users from the world wild web. One errant line of legal Javascript in HTML should not equate to a denial-of-service attack.

A sensible approach would be similar to the nice warning given when a script takes too much CPU, offering the user the choice to continue or stop the script when a tab exceeds some reasonable size: a fixed MB size, or say 10% of real RAM memory.

Ideally there should also be some hard limit calculated by Firefox according to the machine's available memory and Firefox's reasonable percentage of it. For example, maybe limit Firefox (all tabs combined) to 50% or maybe 75% of real memory, so that the O/S has a reasonable chance to remain operational so that a bad tab can be closed. Otherwise, Firefox could cause the O/S to lock up, resulting in data loss if there are tabs or other apps outside of Firefox that have unsaved changes.

Thanks for your consideration!

Dear Mozilla Support,

After some update (I think from 89.0.0 version of Mozilla Firefox - this version with new looks of tabs) I notice flickering on the tab when I loading website or refresh website. This looks very strange. Like I said I dindn't notice any issue with flickering on previous Mozilla Firefox versions. Only with these new versions with new look of the tabs. I didn't remember if it was 89.0.0 version or 90.0.0 version. I don't know if it is problem with the machine but I didn't notice this issue on another computer with 90.0.2 Firefox version but with Windows 10 OS. I also noticed this issue with Firefox 90.0.0.2 with Windows 7 OS on another computer so I don't know if this is problem with two computers or Firefox itself. Can you help me?

Yours faithfully, Piotr

Just trying to convert to Linux from windows (cinnamon 20.2) using the same display (3840 x 2160) Firefox on Linux scrollbars are a lot narrower than on windows and menu bar icons are too small. I cannot find any settings to enlarge these on Firefox on linux.

I estimate that the windows scroll bar is 300% wider than in Linux (Using screen ruler Linux scroll bars are 6 pixels and bitwarden icon is 12 pixels)

The usability of Firefox is questionable for me like this so I really hope there is a setting to make using Firefox a comfortable experience ( I have default font set to 20 and default zoom to 150% )
