I use Win 10 desktop. Recently FF 92.0 started crashing frequently. Not sure whether this is a browser issue or whether it has anything to do with the recent Dell chip set update software.

Downgraded to FF 91.0 which do not appear crashing. However, I noted FF uses a huge amount of memory, and FF does not properly shut on Exit. Task Manager shows FF lines for about 30 seconds after exiting FF.

Is this something to do with my setup or something not right with FF?

I would like to search the bugzilla database for known issues.

While there is a builtin search tool, that does not work: if I search for a string and limit the search to one specific bug where I know it contains the string, then that bug is reported. Doing the same search over all bugs, it (takes long and then) reports that no bug at all contains the string - not even the one where I know it contains the string.

So this search tool is proven defective and cannot be used. What alternatives are there?

I just updated Firefox to 92.0. (Windows 7 Pro, SP1, 64bit) I am visually impaired, and use one of the Windows high-contrast modes to be able to read the screen. The 92.0 update absolutely "broke" the high-contrast mode. It is now almost impossible for me to view any website... I need some sort of fix... NOW. I either need instructions to back up to the previous Firefox release or instructions to add or change something in "preferences" if that is possible.

My Antivirus (Bitdefender) did a full system scan and found a Trojan hidden in one of Firefox's files.

Trojan description: JS:Trojan.Cryxos.6249

Location: firefox/profiles../cache2/entries..

It was automatically deleted. No idea for how long its been there. could it have have done some damage unknown to my Antivirus ? How dangerous is it? Are there any further steps to take ?

FF Ver 92.0

Why is my FF keeps on filling up memory even without doing any browsing?

Because my FF started crashing a couple of days ago, I just monitored the Memory Usage on Task Manager. I opened both FF and Edge, without any browsing. Edge is maintaining memory usage at around 129MB (without browsing), but FF keeps on increasing the memory usage. About 20 mins since opening FF, FF memory usage is 3,241 MB (without any browsing at all) and it still keeps climbing as I type.

I am attaching a couple of Task Manager screen shots.

Edge memory usage is up on Image 4 because I am using Edge to type this message.

Can someone please help?

(Current FF memory usage is 3,518 MB - no browsing at all).

I use Win 10 and I'm up to date.

================

Update: (1) I refreshed FF which stopped continuous increase of memory usage (while not browsing). Also, I could see FF lines disappear from Task Manager almost immediately on exiting FF.

(2) To get back "quick launch shortcuts" I copied file "Pref.js" from my old profile. Continuous memory use while idling started again. FF lines were still there on Task Manager after exiting FF.

===============

2nd Update: (I am not a tech savy person) I had a feeling that increasing memory usage while idling on startup (without browsing at all) has something to do with Home Page, website shortcuts. I had about 29 website shortcuts on 4 rows. Did a fresh installation of FF 92.0, deleted all old profiles, and started filling website shortcuts one by one while checking idling memory usage after each shortcut. After creating a shortcut for "https://www.espncricinfo.com/", the idling memory kept on going up and up. I have now removed this website from my shortcuts and the issue appears solved. My browser settings have "Clear cookies on exit" and "Delete history on exit". I use Win 10 64-bit. Can someone please confirm my observation is correct?

Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site.

We can’t connect to the server at passport.

If that address is correct, here are three other things you can try:

   Try again later.
   Check your network connection.
If you are connected but behind a firewall, check that Firefox has permission to access the Web.

Using latest updated Windows 10 and latest updated Firefox 92.0, when I open up Google Maps and click on "Show your Location" button it shunts me off to the middle of Chicago, rather than downtown Menlo Park, CA.

I double checked whether my WIndows Settings were set to allow location, and it was still set to "On." I also tried using Chrome and there, everything worked as expected. I also tried Microsoft Edge, and there it was broken as well.

So, the problem could be with Windows or Firefox apparently...Not sure how to fix or at least work around the problem.

Why does Firefox keep telling me to update every time I log on, and several times while I'm logged on? These messages are very annoying and unnecessary! I don't need your updates! I don't want any update that removes the "back" button! I like using the "back" button. I allowed Firefox to update a while back, and it removed the "back" button, so I had to do a big system restore to get the back button returned! Please stop sending the update messages! Firefox works fine without the stupid updates. Allow the "Back" button to be used. NO MORE UPDATES! The update messages are so annoying, I'm about to quit using Firefox.

Recently I have been seeing, what I believe is character encoding errors on many web sites.

As you can see from the attached, it appears as a series of 'ddddddddddd' but if I copy and paste that into Word or a text editor it appears correctly. Kinda random, some sites, some areas.

My Firefox automatically updates, so I do not know what version this started.

It seems the folks there at Firefox central enjoy wrecking people's experience by frequently releasing new browsers that breaks what already in place. What the hell is wrong with you guys...?? Are you secretly employed by Microsoft and/or Google....?? Seriously, this is no way to run a browser company. It is, however, a great way to ruin one. Give us a break, and stop breaking our browsers. You ruin our experience, and you do it on a semi regular basis. It's all well and fine to release new stuff, with new features, but for the love of God if it's gonna break what we already have, at the very least offer us a way to keep what we have, and have it supported even in a minimal way, and branch off the new option. I get your fears, you fear that not enough people will opt for the new one like that, and you're probably right. That however, should tell you something.

We loyally support your project. That should be worth something. Thanks.

Even when I am writing this, I am unable to answer the question "Which topic best describes your question?" because its drop down menu is not readable and full of symbols. I reinstalled the Firefox but the problems persisted.

Furthermore, I also reset the all the fonts menu in the "about:config" and changed "layout.css.font-visibility.level" to 1. Sadly, there was no luck.

I'd appreciate any suggestions regarding solution of this problem.
