OK, I've selected automatic updates for Firefox. MacBook Air. So, I need to restart in order for the update to INSTALL. I can't just close and re-open Firefox to get the update. After I restarted, Youtube would not play. AGAIN. This happens with EVERY update. So, following instructions from an entry on the web, I erased my history. OK, now Youtube plays. But I notice I've lost my bookmarks in the process. I've mentioned this before. What's the secret to getting you experts to pay attention to this annoying, recurring thing? I would not have lost my bookmarks if I did not have to erase my history. Why can't updates be provided that will allow me to play youtube and KEEP my bookmarks--- like on every other day??? Thank you.

Don't you think that if browsers rehabilitate a native "RSS one click subscribe" feature, with better UX (RSS actions/reader nicely integrated to the browser) it could revolutionize the way we subscribe to content updates, removing the need to rely on emails/newsletters in a lot of cases (then being more eco-friendly)? Users would receive content updates notifications directly in the browser, their feeds being synchronized through their browser account, etc.

Web developpers would just have to place subscription buttons: <input type="subscribe">

And a W3C Standard would unify how browsers should implement the "Subscription" feature, focusing on UX (I feel this is the point influencing usage data for the most part, RSS still being a tech-savvy thing).

Feeds handling was removed in 2018 in Firefox.

I Googled about stopping using Firefox beta and transition to release version but none of the pages I found in this forum talks about an error message about user profile that only gives me the option to Create a New Profile (therefore losing all my add-ons, cookies, settings and everything) or Exit.

I tried manually googling "download Firefox" and downloaded the release version and after installing it, I get the warning message above. This thread here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1224888 has a link to the rapid release version but I end up in the same warning message.

Since the beta will necessarily always be a newer version than a release version, how do I transition from beta to a release version but preserve all my settings, add-ons and everything if Firefox will tell me that it won't let me use my existing profile in an older version, the release version?

My motivation to leave the beta version is that Firefox started having a bug since 27-Oct-2020 in Google meetings where either a shared screen or the camera image of the person in a meeting appears very zoomed in in the top left corner so it doesn't show the rest of the image.

I've had major stability issues since this update on my Mac (version 10.13.2). Tabs will become unresponsive and show the spinner icon and sometimes the whole browser become unresponsive. I've tried disabling add-ons, refresh, and even creating new profiles. Sometimes I see a process in activity monitor like Firefox Developer EditionCP Web Content or Firefox Developer EditionCP Privileged Content not responding and can force quit a single tab. Sometimes doing that crashes the browser.

I'd really prefer to keep this as my default browser, but it's not looking likely anymore.

Hello: FF dev build 83.0b5 64bit, w10p. A new odd issue to me. Using ActBlue (political PAC) I sometimes use my regular credit card to make small political contribution. As of 28oct20, this FF stops completing the transaction. I hit the "donate" button, & nothing happens. I have seen a "processing" type msg from the vendor us. promptly - but again, the current page just sits there, the "processing"action & pg don't happen. On 28th eve, I checked my bank acct to see if somehow the donation had been made (I would see the deduction taken), and no, it hadn't. No prior nightly build type update had shown this behavior. I have no other FF on this w10 (no stable, nada anything else for FF). I have made no changes to extensions, plugins or otherwise. I had to go to stable chrome to complete the donation, and chrome did it right the 1st time. So, this is just an FYI, I don't know where else to post nor may I have the rights to post elsewhere. Tx.

Hey there guys,

For a week now am trying to login to my FF account within Firefox in order to sync data. Now when I enter my email and password I get greeted with a message that my account it locked. "Sorry. We’ve locked your account. The confirmation email we sent to <email here> was returned and we’ve locked your account to protect your Firefox data."

Now read along the web that I need to wait 24h (already had) before I retry or that I need to submit a ticket to mozilla bug platform (that I also had but got no reply yet - for 4 days). Not sure what to do next... Trying my luck with writing a message here as maybe someone will take note of my issue. Before anyone asks, I have access to my email that the account is registered with. Also I can access my account from the desktop browser from Windows where am already logged in, but feel that if I need to maybe reinstall FF, will not be able to login again.

Any help is highly appreciated.

I have 5 pinned tabs lately, and many unpinned (20-100s). Recently one of the pinned tabs, Twitter specifically, has been unpinning itself at random(?) intervals. I can re-pin it just fine, it's just a little odd. None of the others do this.

I am running with Tree Style Tabs and per-site Containers (but not Twitter or FB specific container extensions). And other extensions like ABP and NS, but I doubt they relate, while these might?

I can access my account on Edge and Chrome, but not Firefox on my PC. I can load it on my Android phone. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I had the SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER problem for a few months. I just reinstalled completely Windows and the problem was gone. Now 2 days later I get this message again when I want to go on sites like google, amazon, youtube, etc.

I don't use any antivirus but I runned a scan with Windows Defender and Clam and found nothing.

I just upgraded to the new Firefox relase and the problem remains.

Read all the articles about this issue and found no solution. The problem doesn't appear with other web browsers such as Microsoft Edge.

As far as I know these are stored in the file cookies.sqlite. Is there a way to look directly into this file? Firefox should automatically delete all cookies on exit. Nevertheless this file is 1.5 MB in size. Or is there another way to check the cookies? Thanks in advance. Matthias

I have been building websites using Firefox for a good 10 years now, but over the last year or so clearing the cache has become more and more frustrating and it's making Firefox unusable for developing websites.

Basically, I am making edits to a website's style sheet and uploading it and the new style sheet is not then being loaded in Firefox.

I have spent the last hour+ looking for a definitive answer to this problem.

I am using both methods I know for clearing cache

1) click on the burger and go to Privacy and Security / go to cookies and site data / click clear data / leave "cached web content" clicked on (switch off "Cookies and Site data") / click clear

2) hold command / shift / R

Most of the time it seems both these methods don't seem to work as the browser won't load the new style sheet.

I know the style sheet has uploaded as when I test the site in Safari (I might have to use the Empty Caches function once) and the new style sheet loads straight away.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, or may be I am missing something fundamental that will cure this problem - all I can say is, it is very, very, very annoying - and really wastes time when you're trying to work.

Is anyone else getting these problems and is there a quick and easy way to be ensuring the cached css file does not keep loading.

btw I also used a private window and was still getting the same problem.

I like using Firefox and don't really want to use another browser as they are rubbish in other ways, but feel like I'm getting to a point where I have no option if I don't find out how to solve this problem.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

it takes me tooooo long to get a job done I do not want to use any other browser but starting to think I may need to. FireFox eats up as much CPU and Memory as Google Chrome, which I stopped using because it cause my system to nearly crash. It ate up so much resources.

Yes, ran without plugins. Same issue. yes I run two to three pages at a time. Yes tried doing one at a time.

Same.

Frustrated.
