suddenly today, August 19, 2020, when I select "Bookmark this page", a bookmark is INSTANTLY created whereas up until yesterday there was a popup/dialog that asked what i wanted to name it and where to save it. Now I have the added hassle of having to "Edit this bookmark" every.single.time. Any way to get the dialog box back??

I followed the instructions to alphabetize my bookmarks in the folder from where I imported them from Microsoft Edge. When I open the bookmark icon in Firefox, all my bookmarks are alphabetized form "y" to "a". How do I put them in alphabetical order?

Hello, I recently synced my devices and when I try to save a bookmark to a folder on my Windows 7 computer, I click on "choose", but folders don't come up, even though they've been synced to this computer. I have to save everything to 'other bookmarks' and then drag them to a folder. Is there a way to fix this? TYIA!

Is there a way to edit the URL of a bookmark while I'm adding it?

I've changed from Google Chrome to Firefox months ago, and this is one of my biggest gripes with Firefox ever since I switched. Back when I used Google Chrome, I used this feature when I'm bookmarking YouTube videos.

YouTube will often add extra text at the end of URLs, such as "&feature=em-uploademail." I usually remove this to try and keep my URLs as clean as possible. The inability to edit bookmark URLs while creating new bookmarks makes this process much more tedious because when I realize that there's extra text at the end of a URL I have to remove the extra text in the address bar, refresh the page, wait several seconds for the page to fully load (when the page is still loading, the title of the page is often blank), and then I can finally bookmark the video.

This issue has been so annoying to the point of where I've considered switching back to Google Chrome.

Today I installed the new Firefox 74 but now my multirow bookmarks toolbar is not working correct anymore. They are not side by side, they are now among one another. See attached screen, ca. 75% of the screen is used by the bookmarks.

The following code is contained in my userChrome.css file:

Since today, I cannot get Firefox to synchronize my bookmarks on one of my computers. I still can send a tab from this computer to others and vice versa though.

I have one Firefox account with all my work bookmarks and another account with my personal ones. I would like to login to my work device with the latter account, but am afraid to hit OK at the prompt warning this:

"A different user was previously signed in to Sync on this computer. Signing in will merge this browser’s bookmarks, passwords and other settings with <personal account>".

I am trying to find a way to login and see only my personal bookmarks when I sign in with the personal account. I have disabled Sync for the work account and installed the Multi-Account Containers add-in, but it does not appear that either option will support this workflow. Am I doing something wrong or is there no way to keep things entirely separated? It looks like the add-in keeps my browsing data separate, but I just want to see separate sets of bookmarks when using the corresponding account.

I am trying to delete all bookmarks but there's one stubborn one that gets suggested in the address bar and I don't know how to delete it. It's got a star next to it and when I turn off bookmark suggestions in settings it does not appear. All bookmark folders are empty. Anyone know where it can be hiding?

I delete the path \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\ but I recovered and now when I try to get my bookmarks it gives this error. It means something like "it was not possible to process the backup.

At approximately the time FF updated automatically to release 80.0, I was unable to save a backup file (json) and restore it to another computer. First time this happened. When I completely removed FF 80.0 from the target computer and tried again, I continued to get the message: "Unable to process the backup file."

I can only imagine that FF 80.0 on the source computer is producing faulty backup JSON files.

Suggested solutions I've seen for this error message are from older FF versions.

The instructions for exporting bookmarks to HTML file call for clicking on a IMPORT AND BACKUP button (screenshot is attached), but there's no button to click on. How do I export bookmarks to an HTML file?

Hello I recently changed PC. However I forgot to backup my Firefox Bookmarks, using either the Firefox backup feature or backing up my Firefox profile data to an external drive.

I was however using Firefox sync to sync my Bookmarks between my Windows PC and Android phone. On my Android phone, I can see that all of my Bookmarks are there.

Is there a way to restore my WIndows PC Firefox Bookmarks from the Bookmarks on my Android Phone? Maybe my understanding of the sync feature is not right - I know Firefox Windows bookmarks are sync'd out to other devices like Android. However, does it work in teh reverse also whereby Android Firefox bookmarks are sync's back to the WIndows PC ?

Is this possible? I like the sleekness of not having the bookmarks bar but it would be very helpful to have it popup when I open a new tab only. (I use this feature in Brave browser, but I prefer Firefox)

I searched the entire web and looked for add-ons and couldn't find a solution. I have attempted to create a custom chrome css file but that didn't work.

What can I do?

As stated above, no new saved Bookmarks have the right Favicon. In fact they all show the Favicon from my Bank! I have tried restarts, start in safe Mode, cleaned up using Onyx, but no change. Any thoughts?
