Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1. Firefox began freezing "Firefox is not responding" while watching videos using flash, immediately after FF Release 40 installed. I tried all the "fixes", FF safe mode, Flash in unprotected mode, refresh FF (and rebuild tool bar, and get back classic theme), hardware acceleration, etc. I did not have any problems using IE with Flash (Active X) on the same videos. FF support told me the problem was having two Flash Players, and to uninstall both, using Adobe's uninstall tool. Since videos on my laptop are my only form of entertainment, I was reluctant to uninstall Flash for IE, when it was working Fine. My solution was to stop using FF for videos, and use IE. With FF release 41, FF began freezing on all websites using any flash content. I really like FF, and it is my preferred browser, but it became totally unusable.

As a last gasp try to fix the constant "Firefox is not responding" problem, I set FF to not update automatically (check for updates,but let me choose whether to install), and I installed FF 38.0.5. I know that someone will comment that doing this is not advised, and that it will leave me vulnerable to attack. I have since watched about 30 hours of video without a single "Firefox is not responding", or a flash crash. I use Norton as anti virus, so I'm not sure how protected I am, but I am happy to be able to use FF again. The "About Firefox" page in help shows me on 38.0.5, and has a button to allow update to the current release, so I am confident going back to the current release would be easy.

I have to wonder what in FF 40 and 41 was causing the problem? I think that problems actually started with FF 39 with Flash crashing constantly, and changed to FF freezing with release 40. I may have unique variables, Windows 7, FF and Flash, Comcast Internet, Xfinity online, but with the freezing occurring on any website using flash content, and the problems going away after down grading to FF 38, I have to think the problem is within FF ?

I use Windows 7 Home Edition and Firefox .What is the easiest way to transfer Firefox from my Old Computer to my New Computer saving all my ADD ONS ,SETTINGS AND FAVOURITES

How do I remove the automatic reset of Firefox to the awful yahoo search engine? I want Google as default search engine. Here is what I have already tried: a. Choosing Google over yahoo and then deleting the yahoo from preferences: Firefox always springs back to yahoo. b. Dowloading the "Google default" app. This worked on earlier versions of Firefox, before V 38.0.1. But it appears that the commercial interests behind Firefox have now circumvented this, as well, because the "Google default" app now no longer works. c. Erasing, and then re-installing the "Google default" app. No improvement.

If there is no way to deal with this, then I'm dumping FF and switching to Google Chrome.

I loathe the current version of Firefox, and was much happier with the previous version. I'm afraid I don't know what the current version number is, and don't know what the previous version number was, but so far as I know it was the latest before this new version.

How do I revert to the earlier version, while keeping all my addons and bookmarks? If I can get the previous version I will certainly store it on my computer so I don't have to ask this question again.

So, every time I open up firefox my home page opens up like it should, but also an options tab always comes along with it. This does not happen, however, when I open up a private browsing window.

This is an issue with the start page "about:startpage"

When I click on the search button nothing happens. Also non of the links to bookmarks etc. work .

There is just no response.

I've tried all the fixes recommended for previously reported instances of similar issues and they didn't work.

I am using Firefox on Ubuntu and it is a clean install.

Suddenly instead of a box opening now I have a tab opening when I go to Tools/Options - how can I get the box back and stop the tab from opening, I prefer to be able to see my current tab below the Tools/Options box, and now I can't. This is making things very awkward.

I am on a client's website & each time I click a "Link" to a move to that file the link opens in a new window (separate and alone w/out the address bar or anything, ie, file/print options). I just want it to open in a new tab but don't see the option to choose that for pop-ups. The only pop-ups option I see is to turn them off or on.

Computer details: Windows 10 Technical Previewer Build 10074 GPU drivers: latest AMD official 14.12 drivers (NOT WINDOWS BETA DRIVERS) Firefox version: 38.0.1 Build ID: 20150513174244

The problem is the one that can be seen in the screenshot attached. I pointed every place in the Bookmarks toolbar and above where the icons randomly disappear. This is also true for most icons/images in the page. It mostly happens when CTRL+TAB/ALT+TAB into Facebook, but it has also happened in some other websites.

This was happening in same Windows build with previous (I think 38.0.0) Firefox version. Windows was reinstalled and it kept happening. Tried disabling all add-ins and tried launching Firefox on secure mode, nothing has helped at all. Attached troubleshooting information in case this helps.

At this moment, Firefox is UNUSABLE due to constant crashes and visualization glitches, all part of the same issue.

I have tried "How do I turn the New Tab page off?" in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/new-tab-page-show-hide-and-customize-top-sites

But still the new tab is opening with (chrome://quick_start/content/index.html" "Fast Start" and the words 'Snap Deal' already entered in the search bar. See the screen shot. I need a blank page shown when a new tab is open.

Unless this can be done, I have to switch my default browser.

I noticed a few days ago that the fullscreen function no longer works for embedded YouTube videos in Mozilla. Then tonight it occurred too me to check and see if t works when you watch a video at YouTube.com. I tried several videos at random and none of them had the fullscreen function. The fullscreen button (box) is there, but when I click on it nothing happens.

I also tested videos at Hulu.com, DailyMotion.com, the Internet Archive and Veoh.com, and the fullscreen function is fine on all of those sites - it is only YouTube that seems to have a problem. I also tested the same videos in the Internet Explorer browser and they work there for all of the sites mentioned, including YouTube.com.

I hope this can be repaired, I really like the Mozilla browser and would hate to have to switch to something else.

I'm using Firefox 41 for Linux 64 bit and I need to communicate over a proxy requiring authentication. I have to enter username and password after each start of Firefox. I found at this forum that setting of the following things in about:config would help but it does not:

network.negotiate-auth.allow-proxies : false network.proxy.share_proxy_settings  : false network.automatic-ntlm-auth.allow-proxies : false network.auth.use : false signon.autologin.proxy : true

So is there any way how to save the credentials to avoid repeated prompting for them in each new Firefox session?

What's this stupid "view pocket list" thing doing in my bookmarks? I right click on it and there's no way to delete it. I HATE stuff invading my browser like that, how do I nuke it?

All of a sudden No vids will play..I get Warning that version is unsecure and I need to update...All update options are for Windows 7, 8, and others, but no option for Flash for XP system...Seems I can Bypass by "allowing" it...

I have updated my Firefox to the latest stable release 57 in a windows machine. I would like to know if TLS 1.2 is already enabled in my browser or do i need to make any changes in the default setup in order to make it active.

When i check "security.tls.version.min" it's shown "Value 1". Is that the right value to TLS 1.2 ?

I got the following message (partially shown) when I tried to connect to a particular website.

Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to xxxxxx.xxx. Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s). (Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap). The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.

I tried the MS IE browser and had a similar notice. I checked the security setting on IE, added selections TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 and resolved my problem on the IE browser.

So I wanted to check the TLS/SSL settings on Firefox but could not find where they were selected. I thought they used to be under Tools/Options. Where can I go to verify them?

I have created a 4 GB RAMDisk( 4GB of my RAM is now a Local Hard drivem which has crazy read speeds nearing 400MBps) using a Dataram software( http://memory.dataram.com/products-and-services/software/ramdisk ) . I have installed firefox in that drive to increase its performance. But until I move my cache into that Drive, I can't make it any faster than before. I am a heavy user. I have the following add ons installed which take its toll on firefox's speed, 1. VideoDownloadHelper 2. Unmht 3. Integrated Google Calendar 4. Dashlane 3 password manager 5. Progre All enabled and latest updated versions, other than 4 other disabled add ons.

So I need to change the cache directory. I tried this solution https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/768867 ,. I went to about:config , browser.cache.disk.enable is true, and browser.cache.disk.parent_directory , I can't find.

Please give me a solution to this. Thanks.

When using a mouse I know I can middle click (wheel) and the web-link I am clicking will open in a new tab. I also know I can drag that link to the + sign on the tab bar and it will open. But while using the Keyboard only, when I want to open a webpage link in a new tab, it always opens in a new window, why?

I noticed while searching in Mozilla Support that hitting any box opens in a new tab ( this is the effect I want) why does this not happen on other webpages?

I may be answering my own question here but could it be the one 'NewsNow' website that is causing my problem?
