When I attempt to export all of my Firefox bookmarks they all are not there when trying to import them into another browser (e.g. Chrome or Safari). Is there a reason why only one of my bookmark folders is exported? Thank you for any guidance you can lend.

Do you see the missing bookmarks if you open this HTML backup in a Firefox tab (Firefox > New Tab > Open File)?

If that isn't the case then it is possible that there is a problem with the places.sqlite file.
Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.

Chrome and Safari may not show bookmarks in all three main (root) folder that current Firefox use.

In which folder are to bookmarks that appear located and where the ones that are missing?

  • The "Bookmarks Toolbar" folder stores the bookmarks that you see on the Bookmarks Toolbar (Firefox > Options or View > Toolbars).
  • The "Bookmarks Menu" folder stores bookmarks that show in the Bookmarks menu and are created via "Bookmarks > Bookmark This Page" or via "Bookmark This Link" in the right-click context menu.
  • The "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder stores bookmarks that are created by clicking the star at the right end of the location bar.

Hi Cor-el,

Thank you for the reply.

The only bookmark folder that exports is within my "Bookmarks Menu" folder. I have many folders and first one in the list is the only folder that exports; however, it exports all of this folder's contents.
