Need to overlay computer's booksmarks with Desktop Bookmarks from Android phone

Ever since I started using Sync (around 12/9/12), the bookmarks on my computer have been hosed up. There are duplicate/triplicate/etc. folders & bookmarks all over the place. The Desktop Bookmarks on my android phone look fine though. I'd like to export them from my phone & import on my computer though, from what I've found so far, this is not possible.

Since I noticed the problem I've saved all new bookmarks to a new folder and exported to html/backed them up a couple times. If I understand how Sync works, my bookmarks are on a server somewhere. I would hope this includes a backup of my bookmarks BEFORE the first sync was ever attempted (yes, I know, I should have done so myself)! The easiest thing would be to go back to my bookmarks as they were PRIOR to ever sync'ing. If I could get that far I could manage to bring in those created later from my backup.

I've been going around and around with this since I discovered it...Any input will be appreciated! Thanks!

Finally back to the dreaded bookmark issue...I don't see anything in the links that seem to apply to my situation...The bookmarks, including history, etc. work fine. There are just duplicates (bookmarks & folders, though dup folders usually don't contain all the same bookmarks). There is no places.sqlite.corrupt file. Note: I'd originally said there were also triplicates. I think one of my earlier fix attempts actually exacerbated things. This was corrected with a backup I'd made. It was also incorrect that the Desktop Bookmarks on my phone were fine. They APPEARED fine, in comparison to my computer's bookmarks during the "triplicate period" + differences in the view on each end.

I did a lot of research prior to submitting my question and everything I found regarding Sync generating dups was related to cleaning up the bookmarks. Nothing addressed the cause or how to avoid it in the future. In one case the question owner was able to get his bookmarks back in order but had to jump through hoops to do so. In other cases, an add on was typically suggested (the most prevalent is no longer available). Rather than torturing myself with a bunch of complicated steps (with no guarantee of success) or trusting it to an add on, I've started fixing it manually : (

So, some questions: 1) Even though I know better, I have to ask...There's no backup from BEFORE THE FIRST SYNC floatin' around somewhere (hint, hint, support folks)? 2) Has anyone been able to recreate this Sync/dup issue? Is there a planned fix?

Thanks again!
