Hello,

I just got a new laptop, and have found that firefox won't display many websites correctly including yahoo news/finance, IMDB, web of knowledge (a search engine for scientific literature), wikipedia, etc. etc. It loads the webpages in a very basic-looking way, with nothing but the most basic formatting and images showing. I've found that ctrl+F5 to refresh the cache for that page solves the problem, but it's quite a nuisance (and in a few cases, limits website functionality) to have to refresh every page when I load it. (I'd load an image as an example, but I'm not sure how to do that here?)

While turning off the cache fixes the issue, I do use my phone for tethering and would like to use the cache if possible. If there's a real fix for the problem, I'd appreciate any pointers. Also, please let me know if you need more information and how I can provide it.

Thank you very much,

M

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Hi Tyler,

Sorry to say, but that didn't fix the problem. I've tried re-installing completely as well, and have disabled/removed adblock plus - neither approach seems to make any difference.

Thanks for your suggestion, though.
