Hey,

I downloaded some program the other day but removed it again. Yet my browser opens up my new tabs with the URL: http://newtab.certified-toolbar.com/nff/?si=41460&tid=592&new=true How do I change it back? I've just updated my browser to the latest version and thought that might fix it but it didn't. I've also tried to mail those powering the website above but my mail failed to be delivered. I'm tired of the page - please help. :-)

you can try installing the search reset addon - it should get rid of both of these problems: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/

Hi MartinDaFox

see: New Tab Page – show, hide and customize top sites

see also the excellent Helpful Solution from jscher2000 (it is more analytical) : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/938018

..."Third, to reset your new tab page, you can use the about:config preferences editor...."

thank you

Hi ideato,

Thanks for trying helping me but it didn't work completely. I tried changing the browser.newtab.url preference (as suggested in jscher2000's solution on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/938018). It doesn't matter whether I type "browser.newtab.url = about:newtab", "browser.newtab.url = about:blank" or "browser.newtab.url = about:home" - when opening a new tab it says "The address is not valid". Any idea on how to get back to "The New Tab Page" (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/new-tab-page-show-hide-and-customize-top-sites)? Also, do you know how to remove search engines? The same page that my tabs opened in earlier is also my default search engine (and is used when searching by using the address bar).

Thanks again! - MartinDaFox
