Why does the Firefox start page usually say"You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today to get the best of the Web! " even when it restarts after upgrading to the latest version?

every time Firefox opens, the start page says "You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today to get the best of the Web!" and has a link to go there. I click on upgrade it goes through all the motions of upgrading then restarts and says "You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today to get the best of the Web!"

If that message is on your home page and the home page is similar to www.google.com/firefox, then change your home page. The old Firefox/Google home page is no longer being maintained by Google and will give you that erroneous message.

Change your home page to about:home, the new built-in, updated Firefox/Google home page

Information submitted with your question indicates that you are using the latest released version, Firefox 10.0.2.
