Can not find favorites from IE in bookmarks either using "import from another data base" or "import from html file". Default profile only in use. First time using Firefox

Html ( also tried htm) file is exportd by IE 9 and can be opened. When imported by Firefox it can not be seen in Library of bookmarks either in unsorted bookmarks or show all bookmarks. All read only properties have been removed from Favorites files. Firefox only shows one profile in APPSDATA. This is the first time I have used Firefox and wish to move away from IE. Can you help please? Thanks.

When you use Import Data from another browser, the IE Favorites should be in a folder labeled from Internet Explorer in the Bookmarks Menu folder - either in the Library or in the Bookmarks Sidebar view - {Ctrl + B} .

When you use Import Bookmarks from HTML..., the IE Favorites would not be in a separate "from Internet Explorer" folder, but rather just in the Bookmarks Menu folder listed above the Unsorted Bookmarks folder and in the order they were displayed in IE - probably like the folders first followed by the loose bookmarks.

I am using two accounts on my PC 1) Standard user and 2) Admin user. Bookmark problems occur in both accounts.

There is no folder labeled from internet explorer in Library or bookmark sidebar view when data imported from IE9 browser via 'Import Data from another browser

Ther are no bookmarks in the unsorted bookmarks folder when data imported from IE9 browser via HTML file

There is no Bookmarks Menu folder listed above the Unsorted Bookmarks folder The bookmark toolbar menu is (Empty)? Can this be?

Also I can not Bookmark any page at all. I try ctrl+D or selecting Bookmark this page but nothing is saved.

I have entered a bookmark manually from the Bookmark edit Star but then can not find it in the Libary so can not delete it or even load it.

Is this any further help?

My appologies I have transferred my IE9 favourites to my bookmarks as an htm file but only when I am in my administrator account. I can not do the same when I am in my standard user account. From APPDATA My admin account Firfox profile is (adaaawbx.default) but is (9u8ev9qw.default) in my Standard user account profile

In my Admin user account the bookmark library has all I want but in my Standard user account the bookmark library is totaly blank as mentioned before. Nothing not even a directory structure (toolbar menu bookmarks etc)

Is this any further help?

Each Logon User Account in Windows will have a separate set of Bookmarks, but the import feature will only work automatically in the LUA that was being used when you first installed Firefox. You need to manually do the "import" for the other LUA.

The prefix (adaaawbx and 9u8ev9qw) of the Profile name is randomly generated on "first run" of each Profile, it will never be the same. And, all Profiles in a new installation will have the .default suffix.

The best way to get your Standard user bookmarks from IE into Firefox is by exporting fro IE in HTM format and then importing that file into Firefox.

In IE:
File > Import/Export - Export to HTML file

then in Firefox:
{Ctrl + Shft + B} -> Import & Backup - Import HTML... = From HTML file

I have attempted the manual import a few times while logged into the Standard user profile I can still not get my favorites from IE9 into the firefox bookmarks using the export to a htm (will? this be same as html file extension ) and then importing into Firefox.

I know the htm file has been exported from IE9 as I can read it and check it in the directory I saved it in before importing to Firefox.

Can you explain please why my Libary window shows no information at all please when I acess it from Show all bookmarks ?

Is this is further help?
