Hi, since upgrading to firefox 7 I can-not get to my bank a/c. the usdername and password work with 7, but when it comes to the icons that I have to put in nothing happens. I have been in touch with my bank and they seen aware of the problem as they asked me to try and use I.E. which I did and was able to get into my a/c. hope you can solve this problem soon. thank you J.K. Glad to hear that. No doubt the bank updated something. Lets hope the problem does not re-occur when firefox 7 updates to firefox 8 in a few weeks time.

Who is the bank ? and what is their website ? Are you able to use Firefox ok on the banks ordinary public none secure http website material ?

Are you able to copy any advice the bank provides ?

I do recall a similar problem being reported recently, but I did not manage to get a copy of the information the Bank was providing. Hopefully any problem is temporary whilst the bank adjusts to using the new version of Firefox. (It would not be because the Bank is using compromised certificates ? that there is a problem with firefox I hope. See http://www.us-cert.gov/current/index.html#fraudulent_diginotar_ssl_certificate ) Please ensure IE is fully up-to-date and secure if you are using that.

Hi, I am reluctant to give the name of the bank due my post being printed with my name on it. but in answere to you question, yes iam able to everthing on the banks web-site except log into my a/c. I have no writtern advice from the bank, so I can-not give you a copy as I spoke with them on the phone, their thoughts on the matter was that firefox would update the system in the near future, and thank you for your concern about I.E. . Maybe someone not using there own name may want to post the information. or maybe someone will post the information for you. Nothing is likely to be fixed without knowing the bank and the information. I often find phone advice rather unreliable, I much prefer to see written information, it leaves less room for misunderstandings.

Hi John, thank you for your intrest, but after speaking with the credit union again I have found out that firefox 7 is only a trial and the security system will not reconize it until it becomes a full program. which makes me wonder why would Mozella load firefox 7 on my computer without telling or giving me the oppertunity to say no I will wait untill it works with the settings I had with firefox 6. I only had a message telling me that an update was available, and the next time I opened Firefox it downloaded onto the computer. usdnif

Firefox 7 is NOT a trial.
Firefox 7 has even been updated since its release and the current version is Firefox 7.0.1 Firefox 7 series is the current standard secure and supported release.

Firefox 4, Firefox 5 and Firefox 6, are no longer supported or considered secure.

Possibly the bank is not fully aware of firefox's recent change to a fast release cycle with new versions expecting to be released every 6 weeks.

The Beta channel is for testing and currently (it will all change in a few weeks ! if all goes to schedule) uses Firefox 8, Firefox 9 is on the Aurora channel, and the currently Nightly version is Firefox 10, which as the name suggests may be changed frequently.

See

How does the faster development cycle work? What is the timing?

it probably does no harm to provide feedback by using

  • Firefox button -> Help -> submit feedback

That includes options to report sites or URLs that are causing problems (Although I am not sure if much is or can be done about that, at one time Mozilla did contact some of the problem sites I believe)
