In Internet Explorer and Windows I changed the location where temp files are stored to an external hard drive. I would like to change the Firefox temp file location, also, to improve performance and lifespan of my solid state drive. Is this change possible?

Firefox stores your personal data in the Firefox Profile Folder

You can create a new profile on that other drive.
